I told Ziggy that I was going to write him one EPIC review, and I am embarrassingly late doing it…read more The upside is that I can now say that we feel exactly the same way we did when the job was completed (*covers face* 10 months ago!). We were referred to Ziggy and Master Seal by a family member who's known him for many years and has used him for work at both their home and business. Ziggy had also done work for my uncle, who was a contractor and an absolute perfectionist. My uncle noticed EVERYTHING. No detail was ever overlooked, and he was the type of person who left a job site cleaner than he found it and always went out of his way for people. He spoke incredibly highly of Ziggy, which said a lot about his character, and after meeting him, we understood why. Everything on our 1973 house was still original. This was not a small project. We ultimately had Master Seal replace our siding, soffit, fascia, and windows. It took a YEAR just to make decisions before the project even started. During that time, Ziggy came to our house repeatedly with siding samples, window samples, colors, options, and ideas, daytime, evenings, weekends, it didn't matter. I cannot count the number of calls and texts he patiently answered from me. I am extremely particular and tend to overthink everything, and there were times I simply couldn't make another decision. Ziggy was unbelievably patient. When I needed advice, he gave it. When I needed honesty, he gave that too. And when I was completely stuck, I trusted him to decide because I knew he cared about the outcome as much as we did. That level of trust is what separates Ziggy from almost every contractor I've ever dealt with. We received other quotes before choosing Master Seal, and the difference was immediately clear. Ziggy's quote was honest and competitive, not the cheapest, but after working with him, I wouldn't expect it to be. You get what you pay for, and then some. The difference in knowledge, preparation, workmanship, and attention to detail wasn't even close. Ziggy is in a league of his own. Then there is the work itself. Ziggy and Wojtek are two of the most meticulous people I have ever watched work on a house. They don't look for the fastest way to finish a job, they look for the RIGHT way. Every detail matters, including things most homeowners would never even notice. Saying they take pride in their work still doesn't fully capture it. My neighbor, who is extremely skilled in home repair and maintenance, watched the project closely and was out there with them daily like an unofficial third member of the crew. He could not stop talking about how meticulous Ziggy and Wojtek were, and he is NOT easily impressed. They are not only highly skilled, but genuinely good people. Ziggy has a huge heart, and so does Wojtek. They are funny, thoughtful, dependable, honest, and incredibly hardworking. They treated our home like it mattered to them personally. Throughout the project, Ziggy made suggestions that improved things we hadn't even considered. He addressed issues as they came up instead of ignoring or covering them. If something needed attention, he said so. If there was a better way, he explained it. And when unexpected challenges came up, he consistently went above and beyond. Unlike most contractors who disappear once the check clears, Ziggy stands behind his work. I know if I ever have a question or need anything, he will respond. When Ziggy gives his word, he means it. I trust Ziggy. I trust his workmanship, his judgment, and his recommendations. I trust him to tell me when something is worth spending money on, and when it isn't. He treated us the way he would treat his own family, and somewhere along the way, that's exactly what Ziggy and Wojtek started to feel like to us. I'm not big on personal recommendations because I don't like putting my name behind someone else's work. Too many things can go wrong, and I never want someone coming back to me saying, "You told me to use this guy." Ziggy is the exception. I would recommend Master Seal to my family, friends, neighbors, or anyone else without hesitation. If it were my house, my money, and my decision all over again, I would choose him every time. Our home looks better than it ever has, and the quality of their work will speak for itself for many years to come. Five stars doesn't really cover it. Obviously.

We had a fantastic experience with Ziggy at Master Seal and are OBSESSED with our new front door…read more Our old door had gaps between the door and frame so was funneling cold air in the winter and had to be replaced. We tried weather stripping and had 2 separate handymen crews come and it couldn't be fixed, so the "master seal" name kind of got us interested in working with this business. We have done a lot of work to our home since we moved in early in the pandemic and this is hands down one of the best things we have done. Ziggy was so patient with us as we agonized over colors and came by 5 times just to bring us more samples of doors, finishes, colors, etc. There were a lot of customization options which is great, but it made us a little indecisive... hah... The installation was very efficient. Ziggy and his crew worked in 90 degree weather and finished the work within half a day. The craftsmanship was impeccable--great attention to detail and a perfect door seal! Highly recommend these guys!! So extremely happy with our door. It's beautiful.

I bought my house in 2009, and from almost the day I moved in, I despised the windows. Casement…read more Ugh. Yeah, sure, they look nice, but on windy days, I had to close the windows out of fear they would turn into sails and get ripped from the frames. On rainy days, I was unable to leave a few windows slightly open in order to get some air movement (casement windows open from top to bottom, if you are unfamiliar with the term). When the windows were open, people could easily see the windows were open (hey, I live in Chicago, we worry about crime here in the big bad city). Worse, as the house settled, window after window became unusable. I finally made the decision to replace the casement windows with double hung, and after I spoke to some other firms -- including one that sent over the most "salesy," gimmick-laden salesperson I ever encountered, you've probably seen their TV ads (I had to ask him, repeatedly, to leave, and I needed an hour to get him to go, truly awful) -- I was delighted I made a call to Chicago Window Guys. The owner, Russ, was the salesperson who came to my house. Now we're talking...I like doing deals with the final decision maker. His approach was what I expected: He was on time and got straight to business. No salesy talk, no gimmicks, he simply asked a few questions, took some measurements, and made notes as I explained what I wanted and what windows were to be replaced. He explained a few options to me, answered my questions...we hammered out the price, and cut the deal right then and there. When I'm treated right, I'm a salesperson's dream. He got the deal, and I sent a check a few days later after we finalized the contract. He sent his measurement guy a few days later, he took detailed measurements, made a few more notes, and sent the order to be fulfilled. Now, this is part of the reason why CWG won the deal: they make their windows onsite, here in the Chicago area. They are not a reseller. They are not a distributor for someone else. They fabricate their own product. That cuts out the middleman, to use an overused cliche, which means they offer a superior product at less than what other resellers charge. Two months later, my windows were done, and after false start due to rain (not CWG's fault, obviously), they installed the entire order in one day. That's 7 windows upstairs, 10 windows downstairs, plus the sliding door in the master bedroom, and the sliding door and transom in the family room. One day. The crew was on time, got right to work, and did a fantastic job. They even managed to take down my blinds, then reinstalled them when the work was done. They didn't have to do that, but they did. The cleaned up their work, sealed the windows on the inside and outside...and left. Absolutely first class. I am 100% satisfied with the work and the final product. Russ's crew delivered a great product and provided great service. That salesy, gimmick-laden company, by the way, initially quoted three times what I paid CWG. If you want to be annoyed and ripped off, go with the guys on TV. If you want a quality product at a fair price, go with Chicago Window Guys.

He came to my townhouse to give me an estimate to replace five windows. He was in my house 20 minutes threw out a number to me and wasn't even going to write it down in a proper estimate. When I asked him if he would put it in writing, he scribbled it on his brochure. I went to his website to find out what I would actually be getting because his brochure didn't say it and there was no information that I could find that would tell me what I would be getting for the dollar amount he scribbled on his brochure. I later followed up with an email with additional questions and he did not respond. I honestly didn't expect him to but I wanted to see if he would. Way too concerned about reviews and not actually providing customer service. Very happy I did not hire him!!

They came in a few weeks later and two of their team members came out to install them in the morning. Everything was done quickly and professionally with care. After the install, I had a question about one of the windows since it looked like there was a small crack at the top corner and they sent someone out to look at it right away. It turned out it was just some glue residue that was attached on the inside of the window that made it look like a crack and was easly scraped off with a razor blade. I definitley recommend using Semko as they provided a very reliable service and also beat out many other window companies with their competitive pricing.
