After a horrific laptop + liquid mishap that led to a ripped keyboard cable (don't ask, I'm sort of tech savvy so it's all very embarrassing), I visited these guys due to their positive Yelp reviews. Very friendly people! I only waited a few minutes before John was able to look at my laptop. Upon further inspection, John deduced that the only thing I needed was to simply order a new keyboard - and here's the coolest part - he actually suggested (to my gain and their loss, obviously) that I could just go buy my own part online, rather than ordering through them and having to pay markup costs! I walked out of there with hope and a plan, all free of charge! It was the least I could do to write this review. After reading all of the Yelp rave reviews, I fully expected to get good service when contacting these guys. What I got was amazing service. Spoke to Ryan, who not only took the time to talk to me on the phone but actually listened to me and quickly walked me through a few informational/diagnostic things. He then made suggestions for me to run diagnostic tests to see if I could figure out what's up myself. Gave me a reasonable prognosis and suggestions for what to do if his suggestions didn't work. This company is great. We are a couple of computer challenged seniors who bought a Cannon printer @ Best Buy. We read the kudos that others had posted in their dealings with Northbay. We had them come out to hook up the printer but unfortunately the Cannon we bought was a "cheap" model and the Wi/Fi wouldn't properly connect. No fault on Best Buy as the salesperson was trying to save us money. Ryan at Northbay spent 45 minuets and couldn't get the WI/Fi to take. He suggested another brand with whom he had good experience. Best Buy gladly changed our purchase for an Epson. Ryan came back out and installed the new printer, walked us through all of the features and would not leave until we practiced printing and scanning various documents and emails. He is an absolute pleasure to work with. I'm sure he works on a lot more complicated issues than ours but if you need help with computers, printers, servers call this company. What a "find" the technicians at North Bay Computer Systems were when my desktop PC's hard drive suddenly failed! They quickly, proficiently, and affordably replaced the hard drive, re-installed most of the programs, recovered the data from my back up systems, hooked up my e-mail, installed new anti-virus and malware programs, and did so much more than what was expected, especially on a flat-fee service. Throughout the process, John and Ryan both communicated clearly (i.e., no techno-jive) and made useful suggestions and recommendations. It has now been almost a month with my new hard drive and it is working great. I absolutely will use this business again and have already recommended them to others. From the first telephone call with Jason to the last with Ryan, the service was fast, excellent and reasonably priced. I was in a panic because my computer was acting up. Jason spoke with confidence asking if I wanted them to come to my home or bring it in. We decided that bringing it is was better. My laptop died on me and I took it to Northbay because after doing the clickyti-tick-click, I was instructed to load the Windows CD. I met with Ryan and he gave me a quote for reloading Windows and configuration (I had no intent on saving any data). However, it turned out that the hard drive had crashed and that was why the computer failed. Rather than charge me for his time for the diagnostics, Ryan provided me with sensible options, primarily, that given what it would cost to buy a new harddrive, install, reload and configure, I would be better off purchasing a new computer. Best of all, he did not charge me anything, when he could easily have assessed the $50 min for labor. The foundation for any business becoming successful and surviving is 'trust'. I contacted NorthBay today because my monitor wouldn't open. Not a good situation since I'm starting a trial in several days and need the data in the computer. I took the box in, and talked to John. He did some diagnostics, and determined my problem was that I had my monitor connected to the wrong plug. I also asked him about some non-functioning USB ports, and he fixed that problem in about 2 minutes. He had been talking and working with me for 20 - 30 minutes, but wouldn't take any payment because he said nothing was broken and he hadn't repaired anything. His only request was that I come back to him the next time I have a computer problem. You can be sure I will, and that I will recommend these guys to everyone I know. read more

I'm a Mac person past retirement age but had bought a PC for a specific job. The computer was fine, but I didn't know how to install all the software and make adjustments for the job. My computer started losing its wireless connection. It was going in and out. Ryan came out on Monday and was totally amazing. His upbeat personality was infectious. He tried all kinds of things, and told me what he was doing every step of the way. He appreciated all the things I had already tried, and did not repeat those things. He works very quickly to fix ones problem. He gave me an option of buying something at Best Buy if his fix did not happen to work. Fortunately, what he did worked, and I have not had a problem since then. Ryan made it a very pleasant experience, as pleasant as it can be when one is having computer problems.
