Save yourself some time and money and hire these folks, you will not regret it. We had Doug and his son over to help us with our air-duct and old oil furnace. We had 7 different contractors come out and give us a quote and nobody could beat Doug's price and expertise. Of all of those guys Doug was the only one that, #1 showed up on time, #2 spent about an hour figuring out what to do and how to do it and he clearly communicated to me what he plans to do. #3 was available to start within few days. Our house was challenging since we had to remodel the basement and we had to disconnect all the air-ducts along with the oil-furnace. Many contractors were trying to convince us that we should do something else, get rid of oil furnace, do some ugly split system units and they didn't really care about trying to make it work. One company came by and asked for over $12K just for duct work and when I told them I had a guy who can do it for whole lot less they asked why I thought they were expensive. Incredible. I also had guys telling me they don't do oil and they couldn't reconnect the furnace. Not only that Doug and his son Douglas reconnected the furnace they also did it for free. Many other guys will try and nickel and dime you on things but not these folks. They went above and beyond. Their duct work also saved us a lot of space and they weren't pricing their work on number of terminals they would put in. When we asked for few extra terminals for the basement areas they had no problem doing it. Doug also made us extra happy by suggesting we install heat pump on a top of our oil furnace so when the temperature goes below 32 degrees oil furnace would kick in and other times we'd be using electric heat pump. This was a revelation to us. This made my wife extra-happy since we were looking for best option for our house and Doug delivered long term solution to us. Overall Doug and his son are also excellent folks who will leave a long term impression on you. Their work is clean, affordable and most of all exceptional. I was worried about my cats being hot in the evenings in my absence since I need to use a fan and window opening system for hours to cool the house. Yes, I bought my cats (and myself!) AC!! I was going to cancel a work trip in this current heat wave, and after thinking about AC for a couple of years, I received an outstanding bid from Northend Home Heating and Doug said, "The cool thing about us installing AC is that you won't have it in the morning, and then - boom - you'll have it later that day. You'll love it." He was absolutely right, and I've heard many people in Seattle say that you'll love it and you'll never regret it. Who thought we'd need AC in Seattle?? Anyway, they came at the scheduled time, ready to do the job. Doug set up a cardboard barrier to keep my cats in and outdoor cats out. They were extremely efficient and NEAT (even vacuuming mid-job so that they didn't track anything in my garage! - who does that?!). Their attention to details and great customer service were better than I ever expected. But most of all, they brilliantly redid the duct work, working with the layout of the house (such as routing the water heater vent pipe through a small gap in the system), calibrated it all perfectly, and it's so quiet. We used Northend Home Heating after hearing great things from a friend about their work installing a new gas furnace. We needed to have our electric furnace moved. Doug and Douglas came out for two consultations and gave us some good ideas about the basement remodel we were halfway into. We went with their ideas which were not only to move the furnace to a better spot, but also to redo some of the ductwork so that it runs along the perimeter of the rooms instead of straight down the center, like it did. We're glad we took his advice because the headroom in the basement is much better since the changes, and the furnace is in a place that makes more sense with the flow of the room. And they were able to squeeze the furnace into a tight space, which we were very glad about. They clearly know furnaces very well and had all kinds of ideas and tricks for working with our old furnace and old house. They were both a great pleasure to work with. We purchased a new home out in Granite Falls and we were past the deadline to have the builder install a/c while under construction. After we took possession of our new home we contacted the contractor that did the install of the furnace and they gave us a huge quote to ad a/c. We called Northend Home Heating and they were out to our house in 2 business days! Gave us a detailed quote, which was well under what we were quoted be the "other guys". Doug and his oldest son Douglas were very polite, courteous and professional. They got right to work yesterday after showing up on time! Doug took the up most care to protect our brand new carpets because our furnace was installed in the attic. When routing the power to the a/c unit they took care into making sure the conduit was run through our garage so it would minimize the amount it was shown on the outside of the home. Doug installed a new American Standard furnace a couple of years ago and I realized I never wrote a review. Doug was punctual and had the best price of 3 companies I had come out. He didn't try and upsell us on a top of the line system with too many bells and whistles. The system has been working flawlessly since it was installed. The old system was way oversized and would "boom" every time the fan started. This new system is nice and quiet and keeps the house warm. Doug rearranged some of the ducting in my furnace room. This was supposededly done by a fly-by-night gentleman several years ago. I decided I finally wanted the job done right. I had called Doug initially to come out and do a diagnostic on a noisy furnace (by noisy I mean would shake the whole house) and I also asked him for a quote. He was the only company that didn't charge an absurd diagnostic fee. He said he hoped to earn my business in the future. I awarded him the job of redoing the ducting in my furnace room. While he was working he was always extremely polite. He did an awesome job redoing the ductwork in my furnace room. Doug has been back to service the furnace twice since it was installed and each time it was my fault. Not long after the furnace was installed I was doing some work on the main electrical box and shorted out one of the branch circuits sending a power surge down the line which shut down the furnace. I thought I had ruined the whole circuit board that controls the unit. He checked it out and luckily it was just a transformer. He replaced it that day so that we would not go without heat. Just a few weeks ago I took the vent covers off up stairs to clean them. My dog dropped a raw hide chew of all places right down one of the open vents. I forgot to do anything about it until about a week later when the temperature had dropped a bit. The furnace came on and I was awakened at 5 AM by the smell of a cooking / burning rawhide chew. It had slid all the way down the duct and was sitting on top of the heating element at the top of the furnace. Once again Doug was out the next day and cleaned up my mess. Doug found the breakfast nook duct had been done incorrectly and as a result the room was never warm. The new ductwork he installed in the basement is now flush with the rafters giving me more headroom. We moved into our house knowing we had an old oil furnace that we needed to replace. We decided to transition to gas and got several quotes from furnace vendors. Doug came into our house and told us about the process of filing the application with PSE (since this is our first home we had no idea how long the process took) and provided great direction on whether to fill or remove our oil tank. Because he also does installations, he went more in depth with logistics of how to bring in the gas to the furnace and our fireplace. He didn't have a "salesman" attitude and I liked that he owned his own business and worked with his son and friend since junior high. He also gave us a great recommendation for Tanks by Dallas who came out and pumped our oil and donated it to needy families. Not only did Doug's quotes come in at least $1,000 cheaper, but he was so considerate and responsive. Since we had absolutely no heat and it got cold in October and November, he brought in an industrial heater for us that hooked into our dryer plug so it saved energy. The day our meter was installed by PSE, Doug waited outside of our house for an hour for them to finish so we could be sure we had heat that night. I can't recommend Doug and his team enough. Once again, on the first really cold days of the year, I had furnace problems. I called Doug, and at first he didn't feel that he had installed my furnace, he called me back, later in the day, and I gave him the serial number, and he said he had installed it, but stopped installing the brand after a number of issues with my furnace model. He came out, took out the heat exchanger ( almost the entire guts of the furnace), and apologized that he couldn't get it replaced until the next day, but he had called ahead to notify the vendor that he would probably be replacing the heat exchanger. He said he would be back with a replacement part as soon as he could the next day. I have a lot of confidence that he will do what he needs to get the part and replacement ASAP. read more

They never showed for the appointment. I called and left a message asking if they would still be able to make it but Doug never called me back.
