I called Dima two days before my wife and I were to leave on a two week trip. Our boiler failed so our heating and hot water were out. Dima took our call on a Sunday, on Monday he put in a temporary electric hot water heater so my adult kids had hot water. When we returned he was ready with the new boiler and supplies, removed the old boiler and crazy pipes and installed the new boiler and pipe system. Outstanding. We have a combi boiler system for heat and domestic hot water. Dima came out to have a look to assess it for maintenance v replacement. To save us money he first suggested giving it a try to just keep servicing it until the very high efficiency systems become more available in the US in the next few years, but unfortunately the unit had a part fail just days before he came out to service it. He worked hard to get it replaced under warranty but it was just outside the 10 year coverage window. Navien refused, and they don't even sell that unit, or any replacement parts for it, any more. (Btw stay away from Navien: Not. Pleased.) Really appreciated Dima's extensive knowledge, competence, and his so quickly coming to our rescue (with a Viessman) just as the busy heating season is swinging into high gear. read more

The pipes in my house have been making a howling noise for almost 12 months now. I have contacted more than 20 plumbers/technicians, most of them knowing very little about radiant floor heating (which is what I have). More than 10 different plumbers/technicians have came out to my house to try to "diagnosis" the problem. They changed some expensive labor&parts - costing me more than $1,000 total - and the noise still persists. I continued to do more internet research regarding radiant floor heating and came across SKN Works. Dima was very professional, well-mannered and seemed to know a lot about radiant floor heating. His 1st trip to my house, he diagnosed the problem without charging me a dollar. He came back a few days later on a snowy day with his 4x4 and the part that he needs to fix. He executed the plan he developed after his last visit and when he was done, the pipe's noise finally went away!! I could not believe it!! He could have charged me double of the amount that he asked and I would have happily paid for it. But he didn't. Very impressive! I have a hydronic heating system and it hasn't been working fine for the past two years (there's no hot water in the sink when heating is not working). The first time I tried to fix this I had Beacon plumbing, who quoted me $1600 to fix a valve that (now I know) isn't the real issue. Dima and Alex explained to me in great detail how the system works and identified the real issue and quoted me less than half of what Beacon was trying to rob me of. I've also learned that Beacon did a bad job at descaling the tankless water tank too. Dima has also told me about other issues that he's seeing in my system and suggested solutions. I really lucked out finding Dima. I contacted him for an estimate on a combi boiler replacement project, and his quotes were very reasonable. He even attempted to save my existing heater in a last ditch effort at no charge. Since I'd already sunk some money into that effort with a couple other companies, by then, I was just ready to move on and replace the system, and I went with SKN Works after reviewing several quotes and asking Dima lots of questions over e-mail. It was a fairly large project that entailed removing the old combi and replacing it with a new Viessmann boiler and an indirect water heater. They had to drill through the foundation for the new vent pipe as well. It took about 3 days to complete, and Dima set up a temporary electric tankless water heater so that I could still take hot showers in the mornings while the work was underway. The old setup was a bit of a mess, with various plastic pipes haphazardly strung around. The new one is really a work of art with shiny copper pipes, so satisfying to look at. A marvel of engineering! It's so quiet too. I'd highly recommend the Viessmann Vitodens 100 if it's suitable for your home. It has had no problem maintaining an even level of heat throughout the house while also providing as much hot water as we need. I have full confidence in the new system and Dima's excellent customer service. I'll be sticking with him for my heating needs as long as he's in business. read more

We HIGHLY recommend Dima for any radiant heat related work you need to have done. We could not be more pleased with his professionalism and responsiveness, and his ultimate work product. We attempted to get quotes from 3-4 contractors to replace our gas-fired boiler and hot water tank. The "big guys" were either way more expensive or wanted to charge us just to provide an estimate. Dima came over to our house right away and very thoughtfully consulted with us on the best solution for our home. I reached out with a concern about my newly acquired hydronic heating system and he came over and diagnosed the issue pretty much instantly. Did a great job explaining the pros and cons of my system and provided a ton of helpful info on how to maintain it. I also had an unrelated question about smart thermostats that he wasn't sure about, but he went and did some research on it and sent me some resources that have been very helpful. I cannot say enough about the best customer service experience I had with Dima. He was responsive, deligient and helpful. Unexpectedly, our pump started to make loud banging sound last Wednesday. It was scary. I called atleast 5 different service companies (recommended by friends and neighbors). No was available for several days and could not help with what I thought was urgent. I started to go through businesses listed in yelp. Still similar response. Apparently, the technicians are in high demand are booked out for weeks ahead. It was very frustrating that no one was willing to give any guidance about seriousness of our issue. Dima, was very helpful. He asked me several questions to determine if our issue was urgent and then offered to come over and check the situation to ensure it was safe. He left his job that he was in the middle of and hopped over. He immediately knew what the issue was. He disconnected the system to ensure that the house would be safe and gave recommendations for what needed to be done. He was very detailed in explaining what was essential and somethings that were optional. He also explained about annual service to tune up the system. Of course after this response from Dima I felt very confident and gave him the project. He came in on a Saturday (worked us in), and fixed our system.
