Hands down the best Tres Leches cake we've ever had! We've been ordering this cake for our son for over 20 years as it's his absolute favorite and always requested it for his birthday. I've tried every bakery in Northern County and nothing compares to what we had this past September! It's perfectly moist and firm, which is not easy to do and most places don't do it right and it ends up dripping with milk and gets really mushy. Not the best Northgate that I've been to but still decent if looking for packaged food. Much smaller than other stores but still have a wide variety of snacks and drinks. Tons of parking though as well as patio seating. I expected to see tacos available for sale like other locations but they weren't available. What they did have was aguas frescas! The staff were friendly and welcoming. Prices are reasonable. Especially on Mexican Style Beer. They have all sorts of ceviche too! When craving something other than taco shop food, this is a great place to visit. Pork rinds galore... they sell it buy the pound. Perfect for keto style gains... Drop in and give them a try. Sad story. Enjoy the whole Mexican supermarket experience. Even used to drive to shop in Tiajuana in the day. However this store needs to up their game when it comes to management. Somehow, my own damn fault I left my wallet at the checkout. Noticed it was missing at my next stop just five minutes later.called the store, no, not here. Went to DMV, got new ID etc.... Got a call from manager 3 days later, we have it. Where was my wallet for three days ? You know the cashier area is all CCTV . Glad I got it back but still not good. I get certain produce items here for less than I can find them anywhere else in Fallbrook. Not everything is cheap in the produce section, but the things I need most often are. Also, packaged foods can be regular or high priced, depending on what they are. You have to look for bargains. Other fresh foods that I don't normally eat can also be cheap. One great thing about this place is that you can buy hot Mexican food and eat it there or take it with you. They also have guac, salsa, and serviche. I especially love that when I have my haul and need help with getting it into the car, they help happily. I like this store. If the packaged foods were a bit cheaper, I'd like it more, but I'm not complaining. read more

First and foremost . Let me start by saying that this company has lost its values and humility. All I see is the new Store Director pushing for sales when she is constantly neglecting and brutally bullying the employees. Not only is she intolerant to her surroundings .She seems to care only for certain things going her way and not concerned about the well-being of the workers nor their happiness. Her new method of approaching things is unprofessional and very unethical. I seen so many times how many people look at the poor workers being pushed beyond their limits while she and her group of management linger by and just casually talk amongst each other . I spoken with so many colleges and they say the same. The environment is not the same. I sense a lot of negative energy and biased amongst certain people . I don' t see equality when they are disregarding the purpose of this store that carries the weight on the workers to make it succeed. Me and my family are going to be vocal and show support to the workers and make sure that they know they are really appreciated . During these times you'd think management would care about providing a high level of customer service to people but instead they're rude and disrespectful. Many things make me shiver when I go in the store. The people line up outside, which is OK but they stand cart to cart, not 6 feet away. A lot of the customers do not wear masks and seem to be from Central America, short, stocky men and women. In the store they handle the fruit squeezing and fondling and sniffing the items. Yesterday I purchased 2 cans of peanuts, took them home and had some after dinner for a snack. I almost Broke my tooth as they were stale and very hard. I returned to the store but they refused to accept them and would not let me exchange the items. Many times I have seen customers drop food on the floor and put them back on the shelves. This Northgate is not as big as the one in Vista. I really do not recommend the meat at any Northgate. It has a not so good smell. Other than that, the produce usually has good prices for moderate quality. read more

We're always stopping in to pick up the fresh rolls that they bake....4 for $1 you can't beat that! They make them in White or Wheat. We try to go earlier in the morning on the weekends, we've noticed the later you go the busier they are and you won't find "Three's A Crowd" here. If the lines are long...you'll have to wait. We'll buy our chicken and miscellaneous items as well from time to time. read more

Totally disappointed in this Northgate store. The cooked food looked old. They keep the fried fish next to meat and fried bananas. Yikes I bet all the stuff smells like fish! This is our favorite grocery store. I especially like that I can talk to the butchers, not to mention getting fresh bolios that are just as good as those I got when we lived in Mexico. My grandson loves all the fresh produce. Our family eats better and for less money because of Northgate. The only down side is if you go in hungry all the wonderful aromas are very tempting and on the weekends there is the added temptation of street tacos being sold out front. read more

I've been going to northgate since the very first day they opened when it was still called El Tigre. I like the store, sometimes. The employees are impolite. They do not greet you when you enter the store or when you're paying & if they do greet when you're paying they won't even look at you or smile or anything which is pointless. Also, unlike many other businesses who actually close at their exact closing time, northgate literally close like 15 minutes before closing time and if you're in there shopping at night they'll say they're closing in 15 minutes when there's still like 25 minutes until 10. There are many employees, with the exception of some, that will be walking through the isles or cleaning or whatever & if they see you they look at you with the rudest looking expression. I understand they might not like their job but they can at least give a small smile. read more

I have compared many times their prices with other stores and Northgate for the most part always has better prices. I gave it four stars only because employees are not as friendly at the register. I really like this local market for a lot of reasons, but decent produce across the board is not one of them. Everything else I buy, including meats, canned goods, tortillas, drinks, has been satisfactory and priced fairly. But I've now been disappointed with avocados, limes and melons. The limes lately are hard and almost without juice; probably not watered enough or picked too early. Twice the avos looked and felt okay, but were bad when cut open that night. The small watermelon my wife recently bought was mushy inside. I suspect it and the avos had been frozen or roughly handled. So, in my opinion, shop for these items at reliable Major Market. (I had showed a manager the avo problem but felt she'd just ignored me) read more
