Horrible customer service. ! Make yourself a favor and do not go there, employees do not care about customers or maybe the store never trains their employees. Also extremely EXPENSIVE for a mexican market. All the items are over rated and some and produce needs to get a faster turn around for selling. I bought a amazing churro that I enjoy but when I order the coffee it was $ 5.50.... can you believe that? This is ridiculous, not even in Italy.... Northgate is supposed to be a community market... what happens here, it seems like is more oriented for tourist. I love the feeling like entering a "mercado" the setting it was better than expected. As is the case with all Northgates, we patiently wait in line for the freshly baked bread. Just like all your customers, we patiently wait in line and pass the tongs to grab the bread. On December 15, at 5:45 p.m., two employees cut in front of customers and grabbed a bolillo with their hands, claiming it was "faster." First, they were setting an example of cutting in front of customers, and second, it was unacceptable to use your hands. Their actions were gross and unnecessary. I come to Northgate Market as an emergency when I need something quick and only one or two items are needed.Chain offering Hispanic groceries & premade Mexican meals, with banking services at some branches. *Parking lot is crowded, people fighting over a spot, Sometimes you can end up driving around for up to 10 mins before you can find a spot. *Fruits and vegetables don't last long for many years, I shopped here and the quality of their produce is not worth coming. *Bought a tuna sandwich, it was so disgusting I threw it away, I should of left when I saw the spoiled vegetables!!! read more

There are just some things I have to go to a Northgate that I can't get at Staters. If you are Latino/ Hispanic etc...... you know what I mean. Certain products you can only get here. Regardless only big issues would be the small parking lot. Although there is a great taco truck parked at the street, that business takes away from the parking spaces. Also, it can get kinda crowded in the store during peak hours. This one is not as large as say one of the locations on Harbor. read more

Honestly i don't know how this store doesn't take the effort in giving their customers fresh groceries. We went there to buy fruit because I did not have time to stop to a ralphs which have the same or better prices with better quality groceries. And what do we see? Mold peaches for $1.99/lbs. I've always loved their fresh sweet bread, until 3 weeks ago. I purchased some groceries along with a piece of pineapple bread for my coffee that morning. As I was eating my bread to my surprise it had mold!!! Yessss Mold!!! I was so disgusted and sick to my stomach knowing that I had taken a bite out of that. I went back during my lunch break and took them the rest of the bread. I cannot remember the name of the Gentleman whom I spoke to, he said it looked like it was burnt I said ohhhh no its definitely mold. He looked at it and said he agreed, he took my information and told me that they would call me and do a follow up. Never did they call or showed any concern, I was feeling sick until the end of the day and towards the night. I got food poisoning and had to miss work. Shame on you, for not doing a follow up. This place is literally around the corner from my house and it's a life saver. If you need anything quick you can go here without having to drive 5-10 min to the nearest big supermarket. You can also find a lot of Mexican products that a normal chain store wouldn't carry, but you do pay a price for that. However, I find that most products are more expensive here than they are at Superior which is about a 5 min drive from here. So if you're grocery shopping for the week: go to superior. If you're looking for a special product, only need 1 or 2 things, or want to buy prepared food : go to Northgate Also, they have here some of the best sweet bread and prepared food around. You can get a chicken meal with sides, tortillas and salsa for around $10. This, you won't find at Superior. read more

My mom and I were in line to check out and the employee hands the customer in front of us a closed sign and makes us go to another line and make line again. We were already in line he should have closed the lane after us. The lane light was on meaning that that checkout was open. After he closed the lane we were already in line for there was only one lane left open to checkout in. Terrible service! read more

Just left the store. I went in thinking I could run in real quick for some meat to make for dinner, but it was a shit show in there. The people in the meat department are complete assholes. They skipped my number and when I spoke up, the man rolled his eyes at me. I didn't let it get to me. I went to the register to pay, there was only 2 cashiers open, all with families with carts full of food. I waited patiently and once I got to the register, the cashier lady with the glasses and blonde hair gives the man in front of me the "Register Closed" sign. He was just in as much shock as I was. At this point, I just put my basket down and walked out of the store. I was furious. Definitely not coming here EVER again. I feel very inclined to write a review on this market because of the frequency by which I visit. I've come here lately at least once a week and I really like the authenticity of this grocery store. Its a mexican market that sells pasteries (cakes, flan, chocoflan), bread (mexican bread of several sorts), bolillos (medium sized baguettes) that are freshly made and come out soft and warm. The produce isn't very large but they always have the essentials when cooking up a mexican dish. Lime, avocado, radish, cabbage, onion, coconut, oranges, cucumbers, cilantro etc. We dont really buy beer here because it doesn't go on sale too often however we do buy our dairy products like eggs, mexican cheese and milk whenever we make a trip. This location is small and it's always busy but it never takes too long to get in and out. The lines can get lengthy but the clerks ring you up quick and before know it you're out the door. The only thing that sucks here is the parking situation. The lot is small and most spaces are occupied but luckily for me I've managed to come here every time someones just about to pull out so I can swoop in on their former parking spot. I'm a tad biased because this store is close to home and its convenient for me but overall I feel that this market is very authentic and usually has everything I need. read more

Meat is great quality which is why I like buying meat there but the workers don't assist at all. One was walking around with a phone in her hand which is unsanitary to begin with she was in a blue shit idk if she's more of a manager but it was super busy and she didn't stop by to help. I usually always have to wait 20 minutes to get to my number/turn which is ridiculous compared to stater bros where I'm maybe standing a minute or two and get assistance. Great mexican market. When I went there, it was poppin'. Lots of people at the meat counter and around the store. They had a lot of cool things, like an area with horchata and fresh aguas frescas (that's redundant lol) as well as raspados, a lady making tacos, a huge pan dulce case, and a bunch more. The produce looked good and was well organized. They had a ton of specialty products and the store was well-kept and clean. I'll definitely be back. read more

This Mexican market has all the groceries you need, but if you are looking for a specific brand you may not find it here- other than that this market has Mexican torta bread 4 for $1, awesome premarinated quails to bbq and they sell cooked Mexican food towards the back next to the meat section...my fav being the chicharron. Sooo good. This place also has fresh Mexican aguas frescas- horchata and strawberry- pay for it at the register. My only complaint is parking sucks here. And sometimes the lines to pay are ridiculous. But so is any other grocery store. read more

Went to this Northgate today and their was no parking and trailers were blocking the entrance and exits and one was blocking the way to get out of the parking lot. I had to call the store twice to have the truck driver move his truck. I couldn't go in reverse their was a line of cars behind me waiting for this idiot to move. Why not unload the truck overnight when people aren't shopping? The city needs to check this place out it's a safety hazard and to block parking exits and entrances. Never coming here again! I was at the NORTHGATE in main and cubbon and my Grandma purchased menudo and she bought this Tuseday(3daysAgo).Today Friday 30 2015 when my grandma wanted make the menudo the menudo of the stomach was rotten,horrible,selled grossed, and looked very ewww.After that she put it back into the bag and went back to the same NORTHGATE and she went to customer service and they gave her back her money and she went to the back to get some better menudo and when she went she saw the guy put the rotten menudo back to the menudo spot and she got grossed out and she thought that's what they did to everything that was rotten and was gross.I would give them 0 stars but that isn't an option. read more

I been coming to this Northgate since I was a little girl. My whole family shops here. I live in Tustin and we come to Santa Ana just to shop here. But after today I'm never coming back. Two ladies that work there name Vanessa and maricela and a "customer service manger"name Juan Gonzalez gave me the worst service ever! They embarrassed in front of the whole store when cashing out! They disrespected me and my son! Vanessa the worker told the cashier not to cash me out because my mask was slightly under my nose. Yes sorry I couldn't breathe and my glasses got foggy. No reason to start saying pobre nino and laugh at me and continue to repeat that. I work retail too! I never treat my customers that way. I always try to fix the issue not create a bigger one. Because customer service is very important to me. I was basically kick out. It was my day off and I wanted to cook my son and myself food. I left crying because I was so embarrassed so disrespected. The customer service manager did a poor job handling the issue! He didn't even bother fixing it or telling the ladies to walk away. All I wanted to get my stuff and make dinner on my day off. I ended up leaving and I went to Albertsons and I got good service there. I would continue to shop at my local Albertsons in Tustin and I would never shop at this Northgate or any other Northgate. As a regular customer, I visited this Northgate to purchase from their hot deli. This store make some decent carnitas. Upon opening my hot carnitas I gagged at the putrid smell eminating from the bag. I returned the spoiled cooked meat to the store and spoke to a female manager who agreed, "the food was spoiled". The store manage "Jorge" said the meat was good and didn't smell bad. The spoiled product was not pulled from the case. I feel sorry for the unsuspecting cuatomers who purchased this stuff. I was there over the weekend. I made my purchase and headed out to the griller to cook the carne. My first time at this store. I'm older with serious hearing loss and speak moderate Spanish. These days because of hearing loss very difficult to communicate. So anyway I head over to were the other people were standing trying to get the cooks attention when another customer tells me to go on the othe side of the very large hot bbque. As I go to put my 1 small package down a man with 6 large packages of meat bout knocks me over . I tell the young man at a manuel cash register selling augas. He says doont worry we have that handled we will help you. Then all the other people clear out and the cook unwraps the 6 large packages it takes 3 packes that fill up the bbque space. Had the worst experience ever. I was picking up my son after school, next to this location and we went on by to pick up a few items for dinner. Its a really hot day feeling dehydrated and dizzy I decided to grab a Gatorade and drink it while I shop and this lady I don't even think she was management came screaming to me I was stealing by drinking the Gatorade if I was aware of it and it seems so absurd to me cus I do that everytime I shop wether it's Target Walmart food4less and I never get accused of anything! I felt so ashamed and ackward as some of the parents my son goes to school were shopping as well! I instantly said I'm going to pay for it dare to accuse me of not paying for it til I'm walking out or something but I was nowhere near done shopping... I was screamed at and kicked out the store like if I had done something horrible! As I wasnt allowed to pay for my items I still threw the money for the price of my Gatorade I will be taking this to corporate to take a look at the type of people they hire and mistreat paying customers! May I mention I'm 5 months pregnant I suffer from low blood pressure I've never felt so ashamed!
