And you can never go wrong with whole belly clams. The lady serving us was really friendly. And BTW, this place has the cleanest restroom I've ever seen in a restaurant. We waited for 10 minutes after having coffee poured before a waitress brought us creamer and silverware to stir the coffee. Another table was served and finished before we even got our food. I should have gone elsewhere. The bacon was half cooked and the potato cake had so much onion in it, I could not taste the potato. Getting a second cup of coffee was traumatic. Getting the check took forever. We were in there an hour and a half for what should have been a half hour tops. All we wanted was a quick meal and to get on our way. Jeez.

I would have gone back to have the hot smoked haddock sandwich for dinner later the same day, it was that good. Add that to an attached ice cream stand, selling Gifford's and you can't beat this place for a summertime meal!

It just always seems we arrive a little too late and painters tape has been applied to 3/4 of the flavors on the board, so usually it's just the basics: Chocolate and Vanilla. Also, they have a lunch board with a limited number of choices; recently we chose between Roast Pork, Smoked Haddock, or Salmon served with various accoutrements between the slices of fresh bread. Low and behold the Roast Pork sold out ten minutes after opening! The smoked Haddock and Salmon sandwiches worth the wait.

My wife and I each chose different options on the Half & Half Seafood Dinner and shared our meals so we could enjoy a wider variety of seafood. We started with a fresh salad and homemade dinner rolls, and our entrées arrived shortly after we finished. The fried scallops were outstanding--probably the best I've ever had. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the clams were incredibly fresh and tender, and the calamari was also very tender, although I personally would have preferred the breading to be a little crispier. The portions were generous. There was so much seafood that we barely touched our fries and still couldn't finish everything on our plates. The prices were among the best we've found on this trip, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We left full, happy, and looking forward to coming back again.
