I was visiting during Labor Day wkd and saw they were having a shrimp boil so we bought a couple of tickets. For the price, it was a great deal. We arrived and there wasn't much of a crowd. It's like a bar, nothing fancy. We waited a bit for a table enough though it wasn't crowded. Not sure why that was. We also tried the Mac & cheese appetizer which was very creamy & cheesy. Came here on a whim one day after church and basically never left. We came in on the tail end of brunch and it was not crowded at all. This was a nice surprise because usually I'm brunching in DC where every single person who lives in this frickin city travels to Northwest for bottomless mimosas. Anyway. Our waitress was really nice, our food came out quickly and was really delicious. I got the steak and egg hash, I believe it was. My friend and I had a lot of catching up to do so we ended up sitting another few hours and having dinner as well. We ordered the crab dip, hot wings, Caesar salad and a bottle of wine. Everything was good but the salad, which was just ok. It's not really metro accessible (to my knowledge) but definitely worth checking out if you're in Alexandria. read more

I was visiting Alexandria and some of us went here for dinner on a Friday night during restaurant week. It's a cute, comfortable, clean place. Our server was pleasant. It was all hands on deck taking care of us. Some kitchen staff delivered our food and someone else refilled our drinks. For an app, we had crispy Brussels and they were delish. For my meal, I had the veggie risotto and it was HUGE! I literally made 3 meals out of it! The veggies were super-fresh and there was a large variety of them. The risotto was good, not knock my socks off, but good. Someone at the table had the steak and fries and they really enjoyed that as well. All in all, a good place for food! read more

I feel bad giving this only 2 stars but I just don't feel it deserves 3 stars...maybe 2.5. I really wanted to like it here! My husband and I have thought about coming here for a couple of months now for a date night and we finally did. There are a few 2 star reviews on Yelp but overall this place has great reviews. I think what did us in was that we choose 2 specials for both of our entrées. Although, the specials are really where they should shine! They were so forgettable I already can't even remember what they were called but I am posting pics. I got a gnocchi dish with breaded, fried fish on top. The fish was the best part and that's being generous. The rest was just not good. I don't think the gnocchi was homemade and the cheese sauce that they were in was just bland and reminded me of cheese sauce out of a jar! There was also spinach mixed in and a few small shrimp. We picked through the gnocchi and made sure we ate all the shrimp which were pretty good. The fish was breaded and fried nicely but it was just sitting on top of the cheesy gnocchi and was just strange! My husband got a steak dish that had green beans and mac & cheese as the sides. The dish had some sort of red sauce/ratatouille on top and again the whole dish was just strange and did not blend together. They did cook the steak well because he likes his medium rare and they were able to cook it to his liking. The green beans were just okay and the mac & cheese was nothing special. The best part of the meal was the short rib poutine that we ordered as an appetizer. This was very good and is one of the regular menu items. The short rib on top was very juicy and so tender and paired well with the cheese curds on top of the fries. When we got this to start our meal we were so looking forward to the entrees because the appetizer was so good but were so let down with the entrees. Our server was very nice and the hostess was very friendly too. The restaurant was clean and even the restroom was very nice and clean which is always a good sign. We came a little bit early in the evening and it was not too crowded but the bar seemed to be pretty hopping. My husband does not want to come back but I feel like we should at least give them another chance and try out the regular menu items. We definitely will not be rushing back here anytime soon though. read more

This place is quite popular on a Friday for an early dinner so something must be on point! For appetizers we ordered the risotto fritters and short rib poutine at other yelpers recommendations. The short rib goodness is quite nice, I really enjoyed the copious amounts of gravy on the fries and the short ribs are incredibly tender. The risotto fritters I would've liked a bit more if they had some more seasoning but they were still good. Perhaps a different sauce instead of marinara to elevate them? For the entrees we went with a full rack of ribs and the Parmesan Flounder by recommendation of our waiter Steve who was quite knowledgeable of the menu and very helpful. The ribs are wet and certainly fall off the bone! If there's one thing that can be said with certainty is Northside 10 knows their way around a smoker! The sauce is mostly sweet with a small touch of tangy. I would rate the ribs/tenderness 10/10 and the sauce a 7/10 coming from Kansas City I feel confident in my BBQ ratings The flounder was light and crispy with the Parmesan providing a nice flavor. The asparagus/crab on top being served cold was a bit surprising for a hot dish however. This is served a a large bed of delicious risotto that has shrimp scattered throughout. Ordered the steak and fries and was surprised that it wasn't a whole steak, but that they cut it in to medallions. The greens were also on the plate with a vinegarette that spilled over to the meat. Not a good mix for me. The Parmesan encrusted fish and risotto came with a cold crab/asparagus mix on top. Make sure you understand the menu before ordering, although not high on my list of future establishments I can tell that they do have their loyal regulars. As a transplant I guess it has to be an acquired taste, but the wait staff were excellent and very accommodating. May try Happy Hour next time. read more

The food is always delicious, the service is always impeccable, and the space is beautifully decorated and always clean; what more can you want? A sister restaurant to another Alexandria staple, Southside 815, this new neighborhood bar & restaurant may surpass its sibling in terms of comfort and cuisine. While fairly small, Northside 10 still lends a comfortable environment to both the bar & dining sides of the restaurant. As someone who values ambiance, I appreciate the artistic details of the walls adorned with quotes by famous authors (i.e. Tolkein). The bar area offers a great spot to catch the game and comes with an impressive beer list, complete with some of my favorite IPAs on tap. The food menu is varied and delicious, with the personal highlights being the Risotto Fritters & BBQ Mustard Salmon. Southside 10 has proven itself as a reliable and comfortable neighborhood hangout spot in Alexandria. I live right down the street from its sister restaurant, but I may just end up going the extra distance for a guaranteed good time here. read more

Great place for some comfort food on a cold day. I've heard good things about their Happy Hour, but haven't made it. Our waiter was awesome and service was way better than I was expecting for a low key bar/cafe. The burger was delish, meatloaf was good (good not great), pub fare apps were tasty and beer selection wasn't huge but well chosen. Portions were huge. This review is very long...sorry! Just a note...I emailed the manager before Christmas because I explained I wanted to give them a chance to respond, I also apologized that I never posted a positive review for Northside 10 and that was my negligence, but this is why I gave them 3 stars. But at this point I'm done. Im starting this off by saying that I have been going to Northside for years (5+) since I started working at the elementary school down the street. When I started going here I absolutely loved it, great food and service weather sitting at the bar, chatting with regulars or sitting in the dining area. Every bartender and server I met was great and chatted with the manager several times. With the pandemic obviously everything changed & life stopped so...At the beginning of this school year (8/2022), I started to go back & was happy to feel like life was getting back to normal. The last 2 times was just absolutely terrible service & the food was not great. On the first visit, 10/28 at approx 3:30pm, we sat at a high top in the bar area & the bartender came over pretty gruffly to take the drink orders.... throughout the beginning order process, he was very clearly annoyed and took a few of our orders then walked away without taking my order. So after several of my friends were receiving their drinks, I was still trying to place mine. One of the other servers saw my frustration and came over to take my order. Everyone received their orders at different times, but whatever, just trying to relax after a long school day, but left not satisfied with the service. We then went back on 12/7 and were expecting a few other people to join us, and we wanted 2 high top tables to push together. We sat at one high top table & there was another one next to us but there was money, receipts & a cell phone on it, figured it was a servers so didn't move the table, just waited & waited. Finally someone came out & we told them that we would need the center table because we would have more people joining. The server looked bothered & told us whatever we wanted to do was fine, she then removed the items off the table annoyingly and walked away, she did not clean it or move it. So we ended up moving the table over and waited and waited and waited...by then, 2 of the other people we were expecting joined us and we still did not place our order because the server did not return (about 15 minutes), to be fair, it became very busy, very fast, but we were one of the first customers there since it was about 3:30. I was truly annoyed but we placed our orders anyway. Once received, the food was not good. We ordered the happy hour nachos, the chips were soggy, the chicken was not seasoned (as usual) and it was not fresh. My co-worker ordered wings and she said they were hard & not flavorful, she also got sick that night. BTW, these were my favorite wings in Alexandria City. At both of these visits the servers did not smile and just seemed annoyed, to serve us. I don't know what happened, it was my absolute favorite place and recommended it to everyone, who, at one time loved it too. I feel like the treatment was personal, and am not the only one who feels this way, and I don't know why. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, even though they seem to be busy all of the time, and I'm sure it won't make a difference to them, I am super disappointed but we all feel that people should not be treated this way. A must visit for a southern style brunch in Alexandria, Northside 10 came through on taste, portions, and hospitality! From the second we walked in, everyone made us feel at home at this restaurant. The waiter was so friendly and threw out some suggestions and help on the menu, and stayed attentive throughout our meal. The coffee was excellent much like the other reviews will tell you, better than an average run of the mill breakfast coffee. I had the veggie frittata which was absolutely massive and loaded with peppers, spinach, onion, and potato, topped with cheese. The cornbread that it came with was a nice surprise and was really moist. My friend seemed to enjoy her chicken and waffles, and everything came out to be much more affordable than other options nearby. Anytime I see short rib on a menu I'm all in. In the DMV area for a conference and stubbles upon this restaurant and was drawn in automatically after seeing short rib poutine on the menu. I ordered the short rib poutine(must have)as an appetizer and the spicy fried chicken sandwich with regular slaw as my main entree. I've eaten inside this restaurant once and had it delivered quite a few times. I guess you can say that I do like their food! The restaurant itself isn't large and the parking lot is very limited. If you time your visit, you should get a parking spot and a table easily (or you can sit at the bar). The one time I did eat at the restaurant, my friend and I were sat at a booth in the back. It was a little too dark to my liking, I could barely read the menu, but the atmosphere was nice and it wasn't too loud. My favorite starter are the risotto fritters. Oh my goodness! They are just so yummy that I could eat 2 plates of these. Probably not the best idea but it would be well worth it! I always catch myself getting the spicy fried chicken sandwich and fries. It's mouth watering and I love their fries. I'm usually very picky when it comes to french fries, but their fries come out nice and crispy and hot. The sandwich comes with blue cheese slaw which I'm not too big a fan of, but I tend to order it on the side and add onto the sandwich if I feel that it needs a little more flavor to it. Not that it doesn't have flavor, the sandwich on its own is delicious! So far all my experiences with Northside have been great! I can't wait to try more of their menu, especially their desserts. It is impossible to not love every bite. +Short Rib Poutine | 5 STARS short ribs, fries, cheddar cheese curds ... Typically, poutine isn't something that I would order or eat, but this was recommended and delicious. We came in for Sunday night football and the bartender seemed nice but food wasn't great seemed reheated and just put under a fryer. When I told the bartender we wanted her suggestions. We were told " maybe we shouldn't get food here " and we were denied service for food. We had no issue paying for all the nasty things we ate but to be told we can't order cause that clearly pissed you off is rude and can be taken the wrong way. Omg this place is crazy good! Tucked away in Del Ray, this sister restaurant is a staple neighborhood gem. We came late after the wizards game one a Wednesday for some food. The bar was filled with regulars. Both the bartenders were sooo friendly and helpful. One suggested ordering the poutine and buffalo wings. OMG literally the best poutine I've ever had! The flavor just bursts in your mouth. Not too greasy either. The buffalo wings were also super good. Small wings fried extra crispy with tasty buffalo sauce. The hostess wasn't the most friendly when seating us but we instantly forgot about that when our server Nisha came over. She was great! She knew everything about the menu which is so awesome! Everything sounded so good so she gave us her recommendations and told us what she likes. The food came and it was fantastic. The deviled eggs, the short rib poutine, the chili and cornbread, the risotto fritters..Everything was so delicious. The only thing we didn't really care for was the mini chicken nachos. I have had food from the this establishment multiple times and at best it has been mediocre. Tonight my roommate brought me home the fried chicken which was undercooked. This is not the first time this has happened. On their soft opening I ordered the pulled pork nachos and spent the rest of the night hugging the toilet.....my only meal of the day. I had the pulled pork from the so called pig roast they held in the parking lot which was like rubber, completely undercooked. Tonight's meal, their so called fabulous fried chicken which was RAW.
