I was walking around Old Towne and came across this quaint little coffee shop and market. The service was courteous and friendly. Just got Chai Tea latte and it was really flavorful the spices tickled my tongue was very flavorful. My friend had a Matcha that she shared was really delicious and we also Ordered an avocado Toast, and it was one of the best I have had the avocado Was fresh and had eggs, pistachio nuts and mint on it. The flavors mixed together very well providing and uniquely delightful taste. Looking forward to Coming back and trying some Other items as well.

We came here pre Scottish parade so it was slammed. The lines move quickly, got a number and found a table. Black Keys rock in the background. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and my wife substituted the croissant with sourdough. Both sandwiches came with thick sliced delicious bacon, egg and cheese. Great choice for breakfast.

This place has great breakfast sandwiches, coffee and other to-go breakfast items. My favorite was the breakfast sandwich with bacon on a croissant. I also enjoyed the burrito pictured, though next time I'd ask for it without the jalapenos.

Cute local place between Duke and Prince. Looks to be both Mae's Market and Cafe as well as Virginia's Darling Wine Bar and Bistro. Tried the Chai Latte. It was tasty. Enjoyed the option for dine in glassware and to go cups. The market is small but with local options. I definitely want to try the Richmond's best Nightengale Icecream Sammies (sandwich)!? Love the local woman owned "fan favorite." Would enjoy returning for Virginia's Dining tastes.

Fantastic study ambiance! The gorgeous flowers on the ceilings, the unique ice cream bars, and the tasty pastries. I adore working remotely from here and would highly recommend visiting here for either a cafe date or a study place. The only downside is that parking is paid. After a certain hour, the pastries are also half off! I ended up getting a baked good for about $1.50. Parking: paid street mobile parking. Make sure you pay the right zone with the correct license plate! They routinely check if people have paid -- I ended up getting a parking ticket here for the wrong license plate.

What a super lovely spot for brunch! Plenty of breakfast and lunch options, sweet and savory. I opted for the chicken tortilla soup and the best damn turkey sandwixh, both were super fresh and delicious. Also tried a hot and iced tea which were tasty. Ample seating and a cute market/store were a bonus. I also grabbed a fresh loaf of bread for the week!

I order ahead but stayed for a few minutes to eat what I ordered ( otherwise I would had fainted ). The place is very busy but the staff excels in their service. I was confused as to where to go pick the order from their website. A staff member was quick to point me out and went to pick it for me. The table set up, provides you with a visual of their local market offering. In this area you can see items from local small vendors from the northern Virginia area. I ordered a croissant, is been a while since I have eaten a croissant that can be called one. It was buttery and flakey. The taste was crunchy and airy with a buttery flavour. The latte, was a disappointment. It tasted burnt, and could not enjoyed it as much as I would loved to. I am hoping this was a one time thing that happened. About their menu, is decent enough for a cafe. Don't expect fancy shamamcy stuff. Is a cafe and not a restaurant. That stated, it will be great if they provide more cafe food items to accompanying your coffee. Maybe a biscotti, or a madeleines. Although, the present offering is great . As for tea, maybe is because I am too demanding with cafe la for guest who want to meet someone over while the other party enjoys a cup of coffee it will be great if they provide some tea offerings that aren't brew in a tea bag but with leaves instead. Lastly, cup sleeve design is the cutest. I had to take a picture before putting it in a recycle bin.

I've been here twice and enjoyed it both times. The coffee is good (pictured is my iced vanilla latte... I'm a basic gal ) The first time I came for a little solo date and really enjoyed the veggie quiche. There is plenty of seating even on weekends which is nice. Overall I really enjoy the atmosphere and the staff is friendly. I would recommend this for a nice catch up with a friend, a post church light brunch, or even a place to sit and read. All around great cafe spot!

Met some friends here for coffee on a Sunday afternoon (this was my first visit to Mae's). You order your food/drink items and find a seat (or vice versa). When your order is ready, they'll call your name or number for your hot beverage(s) or they'll bring your food items to you. Since breakfast was over when I arrived, I ordered the italian grinder and an oatmilk chai latte. That oatmilk chai latte was probably the best one I've ever had!!!!!!! It was soooo good and it had cinammon on top, which I love. The customer service was also great. When it was time for them to close, someone showed us that we could sit in the atrium (?) and that was a nice vibe also. I would definitely come back again! I knocked off one star because the floor, I sat on the side with the bar, was FULL of crumbs and food wrappers. Much more than just usual messiness, in my opinion. Every step I took was crunchy, under/around every table and chair.

This is the cutest establishment! I tried this place with a friend for Sunday Funday and we really loved our experience. The sandwiches and drinks were really tasty. The decor in the restaurant was really cute (they have a pink coffee machine). There is inside and outside seating. Street parking is the typical for Old Town so you may have to spin the block a few times. All of the employees were really kind. Overall, a great place to go for a chill dining experience!

Mae's market and cafe is a cute cafe located in Old Town, Alexandria. The cafe has an open space and a great place to get a drink or cafe items while catching up with friends. The cafe was super busy and everything that passed by me looked delicious. I opted for hot chocolate on this visit. The hot chocolate was not super hot but still tasted yummy. The hot chocolate had a house made whipped cream. I would definitely come back to check this place out and try out their other menu items.

I like trying new cafés and maze was the closest one to me after my workout class. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautifully decorated it was. Also, there are several things to purchase in this café, such as children's books, vases, and even home office needs. It was fairly busy around 12 PM, but we were able to get a table. The food was very fresh and delicious. I will definitely be returning soon to try other items on the menu. Especially the chicken salad sandwich that I had my eye on and a basic breakfast sandwich such as the sausage, egg and cheese.

I think you'll find this cafe to be a welcome treat from the moment you walk through the flower lined doors. Standing in line, you'll have a few moments to browse the market items for sale before you order so, peek the menu before you go and know what you want to order. Whether you sit indoors or outside there are plenty of places to pull up a chair and make a friend.

Not sure where to review but I searched cafe & Mae's popped up!

Does this place offer delivery? i hope so because due to being high risk for COVID hubby & I depend on delivery food often!

Do they take reservations? What is the parking situation?

It is not a restaurant. It is more of a market and sandwich counter. There are places to sit down though. They do not take reservations nor do they need to. Enjoy!

Either way I just found Lily's Chocolate & Coffee while venturing up and down King Street, and well with the help of Yelp because this was a plan to visit later in October. But, I decided my kiddos needed a treat. Located on a corner you walk into hues of pink, florals and the smell of chocolate and coffee. I became immediately distracted by the toppings and melted chocolate. But, when I snapped out of it, I was able to place my order. I opted for the Dubai chocolate inspiration over strawberries. If I remember correctly it was around $20 five or take. The cafe is so cute. It is small and if crowded be prepared to navigate that. There is bathrooms inside but, I do not know if it is for customers or not, as they were locked when we were there. The staff were just starting for the day. But they were helpful, kind and ready to roll. Once we received our order we sat down and dug right in. The strawberries were fresh, large and draped over in chocolate, pistachio cream and katifia. This is not my first time having Dubai chocolate or Dubai inspired chocolate. I thoroughly enjoy it over strawberries. There is just something about chocolate ad strawberries. Overall a wonderful place. I highly recommend visiting

Unfortunately, whoever the individual was on shift today was just a total piss poor person - she seemed to have an issue with our party, as she automatically assumed we just came there to 'squat' without ordering anything (if you have been to this place before, there isn't much seating and this isn't where you'd want to sit for a bit anyway); when I called her out and stated that I already knew our party's orders, she backtracked. She then continued to make a snide comment on the number of drinks we were ordering - what's with the passive aggressiveness? I didn't know that there was some rule that each person was required to order something. Like, are you okay? I just had a bad feeling about all of this, and we should have just walked out instead of giving our money to support this business - to add to it all, the coffees that we did receive (latte with soy milk, and the mocha) were just poorly made and not strong at all; they were both watered down and bitter at the same time... come on! UGH, the regret, but it was a choice. Shame on you, Via Volcán! You might want to heavily reconsider who you employ and train them better - this individual is really hurting your business!
