    Spiced Shrimp
    Courtni S.

We came in for the nfl games this past weekend and sat at the bar. I wish we would have gotten the bartenders name as he was SO friendly! We ordered a couple beers a MASSIVE quesadilla (I forgot to take a picture) and some steamed spiced shrimp! Both were awesome and we will be back!

Too much time on the panini press. Disappointed it came on just a regular sub roll but I knew that when I ordered it.

Never again! Been a couple times previously for a quick in and out lunch with work folks. It was always fine - nothing to write home about. This last time I stopped in for another quick lunch. A couple people sitting at the bar; not busy at all. To start, they don't serve sweet tea! I was aghast. lol But I stayed and ordered a Pepsi that turned out to be half flat. Got th menu and the interior of the menu was gross - dirty and sauce and something else on there. I overlooked it and ordered a Cuban that came out over done as hell. It was toasted too long in the panini press. Parts of the bread were burnt and the inside was dry as the Mojave as I said on insta and it lacked any real flavor. The fries were hot and crispy - a plus. The ketchup tasted wrong as hell. Not rancid but on its way. Well? I finish the fries and under the fries were not one but TWO hairs. Weren't mine, I'm bald! Tell my server and say, I think the kitchen needs a little reminder to wear hair nets or something. I don't make a big deal about it cuz at this point it's whatever. He says he'll "yell" at them. Ummm...no yelling isn't necessary, just a reminder - I've worked in kitchens I know what it's like. He takes the plate away and lets me know he "yelled" at them because it was completely unacceptable. I tell him again, no yelling was necessary just a reminder and he replied with, "nah it's okay, I can do what I want around here." So that alone left a nasty taste in my mouth. I never asked for a discount and didn't fully expect one given I ate the thing without complaining but as someone who's worked and run restaurants I definitely would not have charged full price. I'd say it was a waste of 30 minutes but I was waiting for the pharmacy to reopen, but it was definitely a waste of $22!! Never again.

Sunday 8/6/23 6:47pm The restaurant is packed! That's a great thing. It's a family style restaurant but could also be a casual date spot. Nobody working here gives off the vibe they love their job. That being said, they are a little busy. I'm not really hungry but I wanted something so I will order the crab dip & a cup of homemade chili with a sweet tea. Ok- I was told they don't have the crab dip anymore. They haven't updated the menu yet. They also don't have sweet tea. So I opted for nothing to drink and ordered lobster bisque. The lobster bisque was ok. Would I order it again? Probably not. I also think it has imitation Lobster meat. It doesn't taste real. $9.08 Maybe I'll come back when I'm hungry and try the Ruben.

This past Thursday evening, the gals and I shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio and the shrimp fried green tomatoes. For my entree, I opted for the mushroom tortellini which was phenomenal. The staff was kind enough to seat us earlier than our original reservation, which was a really nice touch and much appreciated. I was also happy to see a decent number of gluten-free options. While the main dishes are a bit limited, most of the sides are gluten-free. Now for the food, the crispy chicken sandwich was the highlight of the meal. The Smashburger was also delicious. I ordered the rockfish without the bun, while my dad had it with the bun, and both were great. The beet salad was fresh and flavorful, and the fries were solid. The mac & cheese, unfortunately, was not good at all. On the plus side, the hot cider was delicious. Desserts were a bit of a mixed thoughts. The bread pudding was definitely the best one we tried and really enjoyable. However, the chocolate peanut butter pie was a big disappointment. It was extremely hard and cold (not pie texture), the peanut butter wasn't creamy at all, and it honestly tasted more like a protein bar loaded with sugar. The crust also tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while--disappointing. Overall, we still enjoyed our visit and many of the dishes were great, but the dessert experience could definitely be improved.

The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. My partner chose the mac and cheese, which was the superior side (although both were excellent). The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with another guest at the bar. He and his wife shared several entrées with their young son, and they couldn't stop raving about the short ribs--which their son happily claimed for himself by the end of the meal! They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to find a spot or, even better, taking a rideshare so you can start enjoying your evening right away. Lunch. Supper! has earned its reputation as a longtime Richmond favorite. Great food, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere make this an easy five-star recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

Only street parking is available, but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot. The atmosphere: Very rustic vibe with some farmhouse-style decor. They have table, high-top, bar, and patio seating available. The food: I opted for the Chicken and Waffles with a side of cheese grits. I chose to make it hot for more spice. It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). She informed us about the daily specials and was attentive throughout our visit.

I've been here a few times now, and every visit has been a good one. The happy hour menu has a great selection, the drinks are always on point, and the atmosphere is perfect for unwinding after work or catching up with friends. One of my favorite things about Burtons is how versatile it is. Whether you're stopping in for happy hour, grabbing dinner, meeting friends for drinks, or planning a date night, it's always a solid choice. The Carytown location is another plus, with plenty to do before or after your visit. Parking can be a little challenging depending on the time of day, but that's expected in such a popular area. There are several nearby garages and parking decks that make it manageable. If you're looking for a great happy hour in Richmond, I'd definitely recommend checking out Burtons!

They of course didn't let me down but I was so surprised on how great the food was. The Bang Bang broccoli was hands down my favorite. So tangy and sweet with this crazy crunch. The garlic butter shrimp were amazing and cooked to perfection. I also had the most wonderful garlic bread slices. Literally could have eaten an entire basket with or without the guac. Burton's has such an amazing selection of alcohol. They don't even have rail alcohol just top tier offerings. I enjoyed an espresso martini made with tequila which was absolutely perfect. I also had a desert flower made with mezcal, elderflower and prickly pear. Listen I can't wait for another. Huge shout out to Yelp for the amazing event and our server Peggah who was absolutely the cutest. Great customer service; knowledgeable; made suggestions and was super personable. Will definitely be requesting her when I return.
