We ordered up big for brunch and although pricey ($75 for 4) the food and experience were top notch. We ordered the lamb hash (great flavor, although a little one dimensional), filet breakfast burrito (very large and filling), Belgian waffle (pretty basic except for the cinnamon butter served with it), and our hands down favorite Huevos Rancheros (very large portion, served with 1/2 an avocado on top, excellent flavor!). We also tried the hot spiced cider (my son said it tasted like jolly ranchers), lattes were spot on and the doughnuts...mmm, mmm, mmm. Just sorry we didn't pick up any extra pastries for later! Busy, busy place! Staff was fast courteous and did not miss a beat. Cute place, easy to get to, tight, tight inside. I bumped the server a few times when seated. A bit uncomfortable due to how busy, tight the space and the people, staff and customers moving about. Food took a little while and tasted like day old grease. I ordered sausage and received bacon ( tasted like day old grease). The hash browns were a little undercooked for me and could not take more than a 1/2 bite. I had a pancake which was the best item. It's a bit unorthodox with picking up your own food and ordering before sitting down but it did not take from the experience one bit. I have had great breakfasts here, and was excited to try dinner, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. They have this great sounding special, $38.95 for an appetizer, entree, and dessert. But instead of a regular appetizer, they give you a tiny little appetizer instead of the regular sized one. So is it really a special? My entree was $24.95, so that's another $14.00 for the appetizer and dessert. It would have been a good deal if the appetizer was the regular size, but when they miniaturize it, it's not quite a good deal anymore. The food was good, and our waitress was very sweet, but when she took my meal away and promised to bring me my leftovers in a cute little box, and then forgot, I was even more disappointed. Unfortunately I didn't remember this until I was on the way home, but I am sure she never brought them to the table. Also, the room was really dark and we could hardly see what we were eating, and it was really cold in there too. The first few times I went to Northside, it was awesome. This past week I went twice and it was even better. It blew us away. The new dinner menu is TO DIE FOR!! I have the steak and sweet potatoes...fabulous and almost half the price of other places of quality in the area. My husband (who is VERY picky) said the burger was now in his TOP 5 ever. Such a cool restaurant... I loved the interior style, excellent food and coffee, and full bar. We were a little confused about how the food and drinks were supposed to get to the table (you have to listen for your name to be called and then go up to the kitchen counter to pick your food up). First day in Avon and was directed here by concierge at the Sheraton. Kind of a quirky set up with no actual table servers. A unique self serve atmosphere. Bus your own table. Refill your own soda. Get your own water and pick up your own food. Odd. But what impressed me was the attitude of the staff. All were very helpful, cheerful and perky. The lead cook with the backwards green hat was especially accommodating. He was always smiling even though it was quite busy. We had a small issue with one of our items not having been made and he remedied the situation with a smile and understanding. The staff made the odd service style work. And I found it refreshing. And the food was great. All dishes were flavorful. Nothing needed added seasonings or condiments. We had the eggs benedict, filet mignon breakfast burrito, ceasar salad and the breakfast sandwich. But the hit was the giant bacon donut. It was a huge maple donut with gobs of bacon instead of sprinkles. My youngest son's two favorite things are bacon and donuts. I personally did not think this would work but he wanted to try it. We all had to try it. It was delicious. And it was gone. We will go back again. Now that we are prepared for the service and I want to try the lamb shank hash. At the recommendation of a friend who has been coming to the Vail Valley for years, we ate at Northside for 3 out of the 4 days we were in Avon. It's in the parking lot of a Conoco station within walking distance of the Avon town center - just on the other side of the highway. We walked there each morning from our condo. The food was GREAT. Over our 3 days, we tried the maple bacon donuts, chocolate croissants (which are HUGE), cinnamon roll, breakfast sandwich, and whole wheat pancakes. All of them were fabulous. The pastries, including the donuts, are very rich; you'd have a hard time eating more than 1 of the donuts (when normally I'd eat 2 donuts). The breakfast sandwich was on delicious ciabatta bread and had great sausage and a delicious green chile hollandaise sauce. Amazing. You order at a cash register when you first walk in, seat yourself, and pick up your hot food from the kitchen when they call out your number (pastries are given to you when you order at the register). This format is a little inconvenient because the cashier is right by the door, so the line to order tends to back up. It is too bad that they don't warm the pastries when you order them to eat in the restaurant, because they are much better warm - especially the chocolate croissant. I have no idea how much the donuts or pastries cost because their prices are not posted on the menu or in the case, and the restaurant does not provide an itemized receipt. Strange. The service left something to be desired, even though there are no waiters. Cashiers were not particularly friendly, and we had to ask for coffee refills by going up to the bar or, in one case, standing in the line again (as there was no one behind the bar except the cashier and we didn't want to cut in line ahead of people ordering their food). It would have been nice if they had self-refill coffee available, or someone circulating with a coffee pot refilling mugs, since most people drink more than one cup of coffee. They had high chairs and the restaurant was very kid-friendly. However, the food was so good that the less-than-stellar service did not deter us from returning 3 days in a row! read more

We are here twice while on our recent trip to Eagle Vail. We were drawn for breakfast due to the coffee, donut, and hot breakfast dishes. It did not disappoint! The staff was very accommodating and the breakfast was very good. Best eggs Benedict my Aunt ever had! All items from coffee to donuts to egg burritos were great! The owner came by to tell us they offer full service dinner and a great wine menu. He brought by the menu and specials and sold us on coming back! We dined for dinner and were even more impressed than breakfast. Our waiter, Patrick, was very accommodating and the food was delicious and unique! Lobster Ravioli was inline anything I've ever had before and prime rib was excellent! We all had the 3 course meals and they were well worth the price! This place is bittersweet to me. One one hand i love the atomsphere and the dougnuts and a select few items on the breakfast menu. On the other hand the service for the most part sucks and overall its overpriced (especially the dinners) I would not have dinner here, however if you are in town with a group of people or whatever its a great place to stop before you hit the trails or go skiiing. Just be prepared to stand in a line and wait quite a while for food because this place is generally pretty packed during peak times. Today was my worst experience ever! We are locals who have a second home here in Avon. We spend lots of time here and we constantly eat at NorthSide. However they recently changed the ordering process and now seat you as the owner stated it's much faster. That was definitely not the case! We waited 1 hour and 11 minutes for our food. The waiter came over 40 mins in and said the it would be done in five minutes. Again not the case. She said you can go if you want or you can wait for your food. What does that even mean? So I asked her do you want me to leave? And she said you can go if you want or you can wait for your food. Then saying I'll pick up your food for the service and you don't have to wait! I that her dumbfounded. Why the hell what I want to leave when I've waited an hour and 11 minutes? So we waited five more minutes and our food was served. Later the owner decided to come to our table and ask of how things were. Never even once got the owner to talk to us. He just happened to ask out of the blue as he does do a lot of tables. I was honest with him and told him he needed to talk to his waitress and discussed to him how she responded telling us we could leave. The server definitely heard me. And later said it loud and clear so everyone could hear her it pays off to have patience! I'm sorry rude and uncalled for. I own a business myself an employee 45 people and this is not how you handle business. By far it was a horrific experience! I will not be back for a very long time! read more

Felt like it was a little pricey but being not to familiar with the area it could be spot on.
