Great North Beach neighborhood bar with good cocktails & cold beer. Philadelphia Eagles spot. No food served here but you can bring in your own from 1 of the many surrounding restaraunts. Casual, friendly vibes

Irish coffee is really great here!

If you're a Philadelphia Eagles fan living in or visiting San Francisco, The North Star Café in North Beach is your place. This isn't just a bar--it's a home base. A sanctuary. A full-throttle, green-bleeding, fight-song-belting hub of Philly pride on the West Coast. Every Eagles game day, the back of the bar transforms into Birdgang SF territory--aka the most authentic Philadelphia Eagles crew in the city. These aren't bandwagon fans. These are the real deal. Folks from Philly, Jersey, and South Central PA who brought the 700 level energy straight to North Beach. Jerseys everywhere. High fives after every big play. And yeah, someone is absolutely screaming "Dallas Sucks" before kickoff. What makes it even better? The people. Birdgang SF is welcoming, passionate, and fun--they'll make sure any true Birds fan feels like family. And if you're new? Don't worry. Someone (probably Jimbo) will say hi, hand you a sticker, and scream the "E-A-G-L-E-S" chant with you like you've known each other for years. The bar itself doesn't serve food, but there's a place across the street that delivers with a buzzer system--super easy. You're in North Beach, so you're surrounded by Italian eats if you want to bring your own food. Bottom line: Whether you're homesick for Philly or just want to watch the game with people who get it, The North Star is the only place in SF that truly feels like a slice of the Linc. Go Birds.

Are you an E.A.G.L.E.S. Fan? Enough said, Dickhead! Welcome to the party. A truly welcoming group of individuals whether you're from Philly or just a fan of all things Eagles. This group led by Mayor Jimbo will start your week off right. The bartenders and servers are a well-oiled hyper friendly machine that make you feel at home! Cheers to Chelsea and her fucked up indoctrination shot. Can't wait until the Super Bowl! GO BIRDS!

Jameson and ginger ale. Service is impeccable! Love it here!!! My favorite sf bar!!!

Nice place to watch a game. Otherwise, not so great. Crowded, marginal service, good local place.

WRONG We managed to find a table for the 6 of us, including a disabled member, in the back. The waitress and the gentleman assisting her could not have been nicer!! The drinks and food came quickly and was amazingly delicious ( although reviews said it would be)!!! The gentleman employee was especially attentive to assisting the disabled member of our group, even helping her stand and get around. Could not be happier except for not living closer to frequent Buena Vista more often. (PS... had items from gift shop shipped and they were packaged so very well and arrived cross- country within one week) Great experience

It's great to come back as a tourist to enjoy what the area has to offer. On this day trip we took the Vallejo Ferry straight into Embarcadero. We love the hassle free trip and really enjoy the ride. Once in the city we simply walk throughout Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf and into North Beach. The Buena Vista is an iconic spot dating back to the mid 1800's. It's great to pop in, have an Irish coffee, and enjoy the vibe. We got seated immediately at the bar. Service was great and everyone was enjoying futbol. San Francisco looks amazing! Shared a few photos to enjoy. Hope you get a chance to try. Highly recommended.

STOP. DROP. EAT…read more This place is an absolute gem. Food: We started with the clams and mussels, and they were phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and soak every last bit of that broth up with the bread--you won't regret it. Don also surprised us with complimentary scallops, and wow... next-level fresh. Some of the best seafood I've had. Drinks: Hands down the best margaritas I've had in California so far. I also watched Don make a Bloody Mary, and it was like watching someone craft a work of art. Every ingredient was intentional, and you could tell it was made with genuine care. Service: This deserves to be at the top because it's what made the experience unforgettable. Halfway through our meal, I realized my incredible bartender was actually the owner. Don is one of the most humble, genuine, and welcoming people you'll ever meet. His sons and daughter all work in the restaurant, and there's even a photo on the wall of his great-grandfather smoking a cigar while cooking crabs. This isn't just a restaurant--it's generations of family, tradition, and passion served on every plate. You can feel the heart behind this place the moment you walk in. Thank you, Don, for the outstanding hospitality, the amazing conversation, and a meal we'll be talking about for a long time. We'll definitely be back.

I was shocked that it was this poor. I ordered the fried prawns with rice and vegetables. in the past, I recall the rice being different, this time it was some sort of white rice. The vegetables just tasted funny altogether and the fried shrimp was so overcooked. It was like chewing on rubber. My boyfriend had the steak and lobster plate, which was about $70, his steak was extremely fatty. He left most of it on the plate. Also, the lobster was so overcooked it tasted like grill charred rubber. He's a good eater too (meaning he's not picky). We did our best to be polite, we didn't complain, but for as much as our bill was it just did not go well. I really like this place so I hope we just came on a bad day.
