This was our first time here and it was fun. We opted for free parking as the tickets were already pretty pricey. Glad we went with that option because the shuttle was free and convenient. They dropped us off right infront of the main village and picked us up in the same spot at the end of the day. They offer ice skating with a live band, lodging, great runs for beginners, intermediate and also black diamonds. The app was down which was inconvenient as your pass is the app. We had to wait in line for an hour to get a physical card and a ton of people had similar issues. It was frustrating as I bought these passes back in September and couldn't even get on the slopes till 10:30. The slopes open at 9 and close at 4. They also offer kid classes and rentals. They have fire pits all over the property which is nice too! I was tempted to get chicken and fries but when I saw it was $24 I opted to just eat snacks I brought because wow! That is outrageous for 2 chicken fingers with a couple fries.

Vail resort really wants people to buy season pass. Window price for adult ticket on 1/18/2026, was $328. I been a season pass holder for 15 plus years and can't believe how expensive tickets have gone up. Get the season pass or buy tickets before the season starts, it will save you a lot of $$$$.

Easy to get to, not far off Hwy 80. No curvy roads like getting to Heavenly or Kirkwood. Nice mountain with a variety of terrain for all skier types. I'm more advanced, so I spent most of the day on the backside. Nice steep runs. Most of the lifts are high speed. Several options for on mountain eating and taking a break, although expensive. I went on a weekday, so no lift lines and I felt like I was alone on the mountain. Long walk from parking to the gondola, so best to walk with your boots in hand and get a day use locker on top of gondola. Worth it!!

First time at Northstar this past weekend and our group really enjoyed it. The village itself is really cute but we absolutely loved the runs and how smoothly the lines went for the lifts in spite of how crowded it got on Saturday. Only thing that would be nice is if the shuttles would run a bit longer so you could stay and hang out at the village longer without worrying about the last shuttle leaving you behind.

    Stolen bindings -- Jan 4, 2026

BEWARE AT NORTHSTAR TAHOE My husband's brand new Burton Custom snowboard ($680) with Virgil Abloh bindings (reselling ~$3,600+) was STOLEN on Jan 4 around 4:30pm. We left our boards on the rack by Wild Pine / the ice rink for under 5 minutes to use the restroom. Came back and his board was gone. This wasn't a mistake -- at least 5 other people had boards stolen at the same time and resort. This was organized theft. Here's the wild part: Northstar has ZERO security cameras in the entire resort!! For a resort charging $245+/day for lift tickets, that's unacceptable. The only advice? "File a lost and found claim and hope it shows up." We were also told Northstar is aware this is happening at nearby resorts -- yet no warning emails, no signs, no alerts to guests. We've been season pass holders for years and never experienced this. This whole situation makes us seriously question coming back. Northstar -- do better!!

Time for an update. We were Northstar customers before Vail Resorts bought it in October of 2010. We were Northstar customers before there was a village, LOL. Our season pass also applies to Heavenly, acquired in March 2002, and Kirkwood, acquired in April 2012. I am very happy with all the acquisitions; I feel I am getting a better value from my season pass. I am under pressure to change to an Ikon pass, as half my friends are Ikon pass holders, and the other half are Vail/Epic pass holders. Decisions, decisions, decisions... Good news is that we are all Mt. Rose pass holders, LOL. Quality/Quantity - My favorite Epic Ski Resort!! 3170 skiable acres, 100 Trails, 20 lifts, 2 gondolas, 8 terrain parks. Atmosphere - Ski in and ski out if you get here early enough. :) $40 and $20 paid parking also available via their app, see pictures. Vail knows how to make $$. Free parking in Castle Peak lots... Day lockers. Cross country skiing. Snowshoeing, telemark skiing, fat biking... Offers lessons. Exclusive Martis Camp - I think they renamed it...? Restaurants on the mountain - Lodge at Big Springs, Zephyr Lodge (my favorite), Summit Smokehouse, Tost (are you really back?!?!), Ritz-Carlton Dining. Village: Restaurants - Vous, Wild Pine Kitchen and Pine, Bourbon Pub, Taqueria, Rink Bar, Cabana Bar, Overlook Bar, Frites, Euro Snack, Inclined Burger, Los Arcos, Petra, Coffeebar, Copper Lane Cafe, and Martis Valley Grill. Rubicon Pizza Company - Was/is the best value in the Village, they used to also have a happy hour. Ice Skating Rink. Live bands - Selected days and times. Fire pits. "Outdoor bars" by firepits and skating rink. Also see above. Ritz Carlton is also on this mountain. They have their own restaurants and bars, but be prepared for it to be expensive. Shopping - Too many to name, check out their website. Real Estate - HOA fees are very high. Platinum Club - Please also check out their website. They hold your gear for a fee, but it is not a good fit for us as we need our equipment for all the resorts we visit. Service - Good, they used to have a very positive and friendly customer service program. Price - Season pass $567. Still a good value if you use it! I just paid $500 for two days for my daughter to ski with me... Owner Suggestion - Congrats on all your success with your 42 resorts in 3 countries. Look forward to skiing as many of your properties as possible.

We had a ski trip planned but they cancelled on us because the lack of snow. We decided to book ski lessons at Mount Rose but still lodged at Northstar. Pros: Very very clean It was like a home away from home (full kitchen and washing/ dryer machine) Cons: It was fairly empty. Luckily we had activities booked so we couldn't hang out at the resort for long. I wonder if this will change later on (when the snow comes in)

This is one of my favorite places to go for snowboarding there are some nice tree glades that fulfill my desire for off-piste experiences. Pretty much every time I visit Northstar I always have a good time.

    Village Express Drop Off

First time at Northstar last weekend! Parking: Preferred Lot ($$): $20 M-F, $40 Weekends + Holidays Village View Lot ($): $20 for 3 or less people, free for carpool of 4+ people Castle Peak (Free): far and shuttle is needed We parked at the free Castle Peak Lot. Although the map conveys multiple shuttle stops around the lot, it seemed like the shuttles pick up and drop off in one area. So we had to lug all of our gear to the line. We arrived around 9am on a Sunday and the shuttle lines seemed quite daunting, but the line actually moved quite quickly. As it was our first time at Northstar, we were surprised that after the shuttle drop off, you still have to walk thru the Northstar village until you get to the slopes. There are two lifts that will take you up: the big bear express gondola (busier) and the village express (less busy). We took the village express lift, down logger's loop to village express. By 11am, village express line was significantly longer than other lifts likely because it's the only one that led to green runs. I liked that there are "rest areas" along the trails for short breaks! The green trails at Northstar are wide and great space for beginners however, I noticed a lot of moguls/bumps which can be tricky to traverse especially when you're trying to get the hang of snowboarding. Additionally, there's really only one long green run at Northstar. The majority are blue runs and the backside have mostly black diamond trails. Our first time was decent. The weather was in the mid-50s and it was pretty wet up there. At the end of the day, it's pretty nice getting off the slopes and instantly having a bunch of restaurant and shopping options all conveniently located in the village. I can definitely see the appeal to staying at a hotel onsite for easy ski-in and out.

This is one of my favorite ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area. Located approximately 45 minutes away from Reno, it's an easy day trip by car and you won't have to stay overnight at the hotels near the ski resort. Parking is convenient and free on the weekdays at certain locations. This ski resort has a cozy family atmosphere with a ski school at the base and easy green and intermediate runs available. There is also a terrain park and cross country ski area. We enjoy the high speed ski lifts and the multiple mountain top dining venues as well as the shopping and dining at the Village at Northstar.

When arriving, there is a shuttle that takes you from the parking lot to the bottom of the gondola. Then, you take a gondola up to the ski lifts. The transportation was fine. Northstar is a fantastic ski resort for intermediate skiers, particularly those interested in blue slopes. Most of the mountain slopes are blue, with the backside having many black slopes (less intimidating than those at Kirkwood). The terrain is well organized, with many trails leading into one another. When we visited, there was SO much powder. It was great to ski in. Compared to some other resorts, there seemed to be more moguls and bumpy terrain here. There were both wide and narrow runs, so that was nice as well. As a side note, we used the EPIC app to find groomed and I groomed slopes which didn't seem particularly accurate because there were some "groomed slopes" that were very much not groomed. I would recommend using your instincts and visual sight to determine whether the run will match your skill level and if it had been groomed recently.

YESSIR. Northstar is pretty great for snowboarders and skiers alike! I think it's also pretty diverse in terms of terrain-- both beginners and advanced skiers and snowboarders will have some trails that best fit them on the mountain. :) The Northstar base has a bunch of cool events going on all the time-- last time I went, High West Distillery was giving out free shots of whiskey and free flasks. :D Just one star docked because I wish the parking situation was a little bit better, since all parking lots require shuttles to go back and forth which can take up to 30 minutes during busy hours. :/

If you're not into skiing and just want to enjoy some fall hiking and quiet hot tubs, I recommend booking in mid October. However, the gondola and most restaurants and shops are closed. We booked and three bed and three bath and really enjoyed the space. There is also a fully stocked kitchen, full size refrigerator and freezer, a washer and dryer, and plenty of common space. We could have stayed for a month and all been very comfortable. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the service was somewhat lacking. This could have been due to the off season, but we had an odd experience where cleaning staff entered our room accidentally, realized it was not an empty room, and left. However, they left our door wide open. We were gone for the day, so we don't know how long everything was open and if anyone else entered the room. Despite the issue with our room, we would happily stay here again. The cost for what you get makes it very worthwhile.

Customer support for the property was condescending & was generally unhelpful over the phone until we asked to speak to a supervisor. It's a ghost town (for better or for worse) outside of peak business hours, so try to arrive early! The building numbers & street addresses also need to be reconciled as it currently points to a storage unit vs the entrance. Room (condo) Incredibly spacious condo for multiple couples and/or families. Plenty of desk space to work, counter space to cook, & table space to share meals. The balcony is an amazing lounging space; great for people watching or listening to the rain. Unexpectedly comfortable couches-- great for napping or sitting. Very cozy space with lots of tasteful stock furnishings, fireplace, & paintings. Generally peaceful & quiet unless the upstairs guests have kids running around. Good cleaning standards. Kitchen Full kitchen with modern stainless steel kitchen aide & cuisine art appliances, plus all the tools & dinner ware you might need. The dishwashing is hit-or-miss & is all by-hand since the topside washer buttons are blocked by the island. Otherwise it's a great kitchen. Very comfortable bar seats for eating at the island. Bed Large canopy bed with a king mattress. The mattress is overdue for a refresh/flip & the pillows weren't dense enough, but the linens were clean & soft. A humidifier is included & can be found in the closet. Bath bathrooms are equipped with a few pre stocked bath products, but bring your own as it's incredibly dry up here. Very well-maintained combination shower-tubs; No visible rust or pink mold. Single spray pattern shower head, no hose or frills. Tubs are deep enough for a long soak in salts & a bath bomb, available at the village market. The tiles have a great texture & aesthetic. The backsplashes are eye catching. Good size towels without much wear & tear. Strong water pressure throughout. Standard professional series (2-ply) toilet paper. TV Multiple flat screen smart TVs with well-placed mounts. Screen share/Casting is supported & streaming apps are available. Wi-Fi Blazing fast & stable; streaming, conference calls & uploads had great quality of service . 870 mbps down & 25 mbps up on average. Cell reception was also consistently strong throughout the unit. Food Absolutely nothing outside of the low-effort restaurants in the village & a small market. There's quite a selection of overpriced groceries, with an assortment of allergen friendly meals. Unfortunately, all the frozen foods purchased from multiple isles were badly freezer burned, so I highly recommend packing your own groceries. The business hours are very inconvenient here: Thursday - Monday, 8am-8pm Amazing property for a self-contained staycation, but the "vacation village" angle is lacking a property/community manager to make the experience as consistent & hassle free as possible. There are three choices for members to select- two bedrooms, three bedrooms and four bedrooms which all include a kitchen with Viking appliances (Fridge, Dishwasher, Microwave), a dining room, living room, washer and dryer, and each bedroom has their own desk area and master suite bath room with heated floors. Each of the bathrooms are stocked with Bvlgari soaps and shampoos. They also have a gym with state of the art equipment, bottled water in the fridge and headphones. If you are booked for spa appointments do note that the club residences are quite a hike and on the opposite end of the property in relation to the spa which is located in the hotel. If you have allergies (like I do) feel free to request a feather free room. The housekeeping staff was amazing- attentive without being intrusive. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this Ritz Carlton Destination Property. There are two types of memberships for the Ritz Carlton properties: 1. Portfolio Membership 2. Home Club Membership Out of the two the Portfolio Membership provides greater travel ability to enjoy the different properties. The Home Club Membership is a good option for those who have a favorite place that they like to vacation to yearly. The beds didn't have a down alternative which made sleeping uncomfortable but I was assured they would be ordering a down alternative for those with down feather allergies. What would have made this a five star experience would have been the lack of rudeness my husband and I experienced from Nancy in the concierge office. This Ritz Carlton Destination Club is perfect for those who love to ski and be outdoors. This property is almost two years old and is just lovely.

Should read 4.5 stars but I'm rounding up!…read more We had the most amazing ski vacation at the Ritz Carlton. We spent 4 nights here and did not leave the property except to ski 3 whole days. Here's my notes: ***Seriously ski-in ski-out: The hotel is located on a ski run, so we literally traded our shoes for our boots at the mountain concierge and then grabbed our skis/poles from the concierge outside and started skiing down the mountain to our desired lift. No need to hop on a slow gondola or walk a distance to get to the snow. ***Some fun hotel perks: The hotel does a smores thing at 4:30 pm every day and we thought it was a very nice event. They gave everyone a plate with a graham cracker and piece of chocolate, then your choice of marshmallow (they had strawberry and regular). They also gave us a cup of hot chocolate with a little liquor if you were so inclined. They also had Kids events and we had our little guy paint a pinecone. He had a great time with the very nice guy running it and who knew painting a pinecone could be so fun? ***The restaurants: While we had high hopes for going out to Truckee to check out some cool restaurants, we were so tired from skiing at the end of each day, we never made it out. We loved the food at the Lobby Bar (I think it's called the Living Room) and their new taco restaurant which is called Montesa. Both are expensive (for example, get ready to pay $11-13 for a taco) but we really liked the food at both places. We also ate at Manzanita which is the high end restaurant and the service was amazing plus our little guy LOVED their kids buffet. We on the other hand thought the food was just okay and I don't think we would do this again. So why 4.5 stars and not 5 stars? ***Communication could be improved. We asked directions to the Smores event and a staff member told us it was at the Backyard restaurant and it's not there. In addition, because we pushed out our trip by a day due to the weather, we lost the room upgrade we had secured. It was not the Ritz Carton's fault that we lost this, but there were a couple places where we told the Ritz what was happening with us and they could have told us that they could not guarantee our upgrade. ***Service times at the Lobby Bar restaurant were extremely slow. There was one night where we waited for our food for at least an hour and a half. We will be back!

So we called Amex, whose concierge team was empathetic and professional. They reached out to the Ritz-Carlton on our behalf. After waiting 24 hours and following up, we were told that Ritz-Carlton management responded via email and declined to allow modifications to the reservation and still expect us at the property unless we pay a $750 cancellation fee. We presented a positive diagnosis of a contagious virus, were willing to accept any reasonable accommodation; a date change, points, anything, and the answer was no. This raises a serious concern beyond our personal frustration. If the Ritz-Carlton would rather a family show up carrying a contagious virus than accommodate a date change, what does that say about their commitment to the health and safety of their guests and staff? How many other sick guests have they pressured to check in rather than lose a night's revenue? What about employees who may face the same inflexibility when they're ill? For a brand that markets itself as the gold standard of hospitality, this experience seems like the opposite.

I have to put 1 star because I wasn't able to experience anything…read more Today I just put down my phone regarding to this reservation the 6th times. One village has been always been a place we wanted to try out, however they never made themselves available. We made this reservation more than a month ahead of time. Unfortunately I found out immediately I can not make it on that weekend and I was trying to cancel the reservation. Without luck trying everything on the website and apps, I called in. I was kicked between Hyatt Globalist hotline, One village office, Hyatt vacation club a few times. One time, I waited on line for more than an hour ending up being approved for a cancellation free of charge. I got an email address, I was informed that I need to send in my info and they will take care of the cancellation. Guess what? Two days later I got the response that there was no evidence or proof that they agreed that they will cancel it for me. Good point! How do I get evidence from customer calls? Does anyone record while they are calling with customer service? Ok, I called Hyatt again, they must have recorded it. I went through two levels of escalation, and got feedbacks that they will review the record. I am still waiting. There are 15 days till the reservation and I will see what more I need to do. Above is the whole situation, here's the take-away: - Horrible customer services. Instead of thinking for and trying to resolve problems for the guests, the only thing they did is to kick the balls around. No one is willing to take any extra miles to help. On the contrary, everyone was trying to escape from interacting. For at least three times in the call, I got transferred abruptly without even being notified. - One village place residences has very inflexible booking process. If you are not sure you are going, be careful. You will loose it all, once you click the button, and they don't care. - No leadership. It's obvious that Hyatt Vacation Club do not have a central decision making process. So everyone can make some decision and also no one can make it. That's why guests got kicked back and forth. Have you experienced being transferred 4 times on one customer service call? Each time is a full explanation, each time people just kicked balls. Now with this attitude, I have deep doubt that they will provide good hospitality and services on site as the whole team's mindset is not on how to care for guests. So my advice is, please avoid this place. Updated April 9th. Above was the comment I made previously and I got contacted by HVC customer service. Eventually they sent an email explaining how time sharing works and it's too late so they can not do anything. Here's the point I replied: - First of all it was too late because they kept kicking customer around for 6 times, 2 weeks without actually trying to take actions. - Secondly, it was apparent that Hyatt customer service promised that the reservation will be cancelled without penalty. The Hyatt customer service representative reprents Hyatt. If this is a mistake or misinformation. I am wondering why in all the later communication no one talked about to make up the mistakes that your representative made. And even more, Hyatt asked customer to provide evidence of communications ? - At last, what I am complaining about, is not just the fact that the cancellation can not be done, is the fact through this whole process, how messy and unorganized Hyatt's customer service communication was. I could feel in this whole process, the goal of every customer service was not to address customer's concerns but to pick up and hang off the phone without a trouble made to themselves.

We stayed at the "one village place residences" from Saturday - Wednesday right after Thanksgiving…read more Super cute resort with quite a few things to do. We really enjoyed our stay here and definitely will be back. Some things I enjoyed specifically about our room: Each room has its only heating and cooling system so you can control each area. The master baths bathtub is like the biggest tub I've ever seen. I loved how many lights I could dim. Both couches were pull out couches which made 4 sleeping areas if needed. The private parking right next to our elevator. The gondola lifts access right inside our lobby. The washer and dryer. Little bit of everything to make our stay comfortable such as extra towels, laundry soap plenty of extra bedding and toilet paper. My personal complaints: The bedding and pillows at our room were pretty cheap quality. Blankets and sheets were super stiff and uncomfortable pillows super flat. Didn't sleep well or fall asleep well. The bath tub and shower didn't work in the spare room. On Saturday night (I assume weekends the machines running right outside our balcony ran super late and pretty early. Typically I like some white noise but I can see how that would be very disturbing to others.) The hot tub on our site is completely shut down. There was an obnoxious amount of little tables everywhere I just ended up trying to pile everything in an area to make walking room Lastly there isn't any really good coffee at the entire resort I tried every spot including the coffee that was provided in our room. Overall great experience. Beautiful buildings. Friendly staff everywhere.

Wow, I scored! I have been looking for the trifecta of light weight hoodies for ages…read more Hood, zippered pockets and full zip. If you don't think that it's difficult to find all 3 in one garment plus an excellent form fitting look, please advise. Lucky me, After combing every other outdoor store at Northstar, I found 2 here and they were both 40% off. One was a pale, minty green Cotopaxi with a fiber filled quilted front. I also had the luck of finding a pair of ON cloud tec, multi colored running shoes in my size at half price. The bonus on these was a rubberized, outer finish for rainy weather. Be sure to peruse the entire men's and women's clothing selection. You will find creative, designer sportswear that you don't see everywhere. I had a hungry man at my heels so I missed a lot.

During the COVID era, the most usual practices can be grueling, unpleasant and somewhat tedious. Getting fitting out for rentals is tedious in any case (with 6 year old in tow).. but it's the bright faces of the crew and their efficient work that truly make all the difference. In and out.. as quickly as we could possibly be! Super happy with the equipment, guidance and help. When we were nearly late to our ski lesson, they helped out tremendously. When I wasn't sure about fit of the boot, they had all the info. When we wanted a harness for our 6 year old (he was FLYING at a speed we weren't comfortable), Toby and Erika were there to help. Thank you guys!

We parked in the passenger drop off zone and the office was a few steps away. The brochure they gave use was outdated as there is no pottery place in the village anymore. The underground garage was nice as it was snowing. You can find an updated map in the village at the ski lift pass office. The ice rink was closed during our end of March visit and if you want food from a restaurant make sure it's before 6pm as the only thing open late is pizza. The movie theatre was nice but they only have kid shows. The hot tub and pool were closed in our unit so we had to walk over the the second pool by the main entrance to use that. The steam room was not working for the men there but was working by our unit in the gym area. We were to check out by 11am but your key card works after that so we were able to go back and get something we forgot.

Furnishings were all comfortable. Internet worked well. Kitchen was well appointed and we were able to cook several of our meals. The only downside was the resort was mostly closed up. There were three restaurants that were open during out stay, Petra, Rubicon Pizza and a Mexican place. The Mexican restaurant was good, but only open 11-4 on weekdays. One of the weekend days it was closed due to a plumbing issue. Rubicon was great, but the menu is a little limited aside from pizza. Petra just wasn't our type of place. There was a general market open until 6pm, and a froyo place. I'm not sure how much of the closures were due to Covid or just summer in general. This was the end of a week + trip for us, and I liked that I was able to do some of my laundry before heading home! We would definitely return!
