We walked into this old style diner and the people are so nice. We were welcomed right away and we ordered up the eggs. Benedict. I don't think we chose the right item as the sauce was broken. The eggs undercooked and The ham hard and not tasty. The the English muffin wasn't toasted or grilled. It seemed to be uncooked. I love supporting local diners and the people and we tipped heavily but I just wouldn't go back cuz the food which is the main draw of a diner wasn't up to par. Small town diners are something I truly miss, so when I was in New Hampshire visiting family I jumped at the offer to grab some breakfast at the Northwood Diner. I arrived at Logan on a Thursday morning and my family picked me up and brought me here around 8AM. It was the Fourth of July so it was pretty busy at the diner but the staff were very kind, very quick at providing drinks, and gave us time to look over the menu and place our order. This was my first time eating here so when I saw Country Fried steak on the menu I knew I needed to give it a try. The plate was practically on fire when it was served so after giving it 30 seconds I couldn't help but dig in and I absolutely loved this meal. The country fried steak tasted exactly how I thought a small town country fried steak would taste and the same goes for the toast, potatoes, and eggs I had on the side. Was it the absolute best I've ever eaten? No, but sometimes all you want is exactly what they give you and that's exactly what the case was here. On top of the food being good, this place was decorated in Northwood history while the front end sold bread and baked goods that were made locally, what else could you ask for? Overall, a big thumbs up for the Northwood Diner. The friendly staff, tasty food, and small town charm this diner offers is everything I sometimes miss about living in New England. read more

While in the area we ate here two mornings. This is a very busy place but we were greeted right away by very friendly staff. We sat down and almost immediately our waitress was over asking if we wanted coffee. Yes. Please. The place was clean and comfortable. The menu is not overwhelming but quite adequate, with a good number of offerings. The first day my wife ordered an omelet with bacon, spinach, mushrooms, and cheese. It arrived with home fries, sourdough toast, and no bacon. When this was pointed out our waitress immediately returned with a side of bacon at no charge. I ordered eggs over easy, sausage patties, rye toast and a side of grits. My breakfast was large and perfect. The coffee kept on coming. The second day my wife ordered the same omelet as the day before and this time it arrived perfectly. I ordered the "Diner Breakfast" the second day. It was huge. bacon, sausage, and a nice piece of ham. Home fries and this time I ordered the fresh made cinnamon raisin toast. I enjoyed this breakfast. We had the same waitress who remembered us from the day before. She was very friendly and attentive. The second day the place was packed, every one was very busy but we still all received personal attention and all the staff was still smiling. The whole place got to sing Happy Birthday to one of the waitresses. It was a nice, family friendly, morning. read more

A cute diner! There aren't a ton of options in the area, but this is a welcome and solid option. They have a varied menu for breakfast and lunch and offer a lot of homemade baked goods. We went in for breakfast on a weekday and it was busy but not packed and were seated right away. The server was really friendly and attentive. We both opted for veggie omelets; they're only two-egg so they're on the smaller side than what you'd find at a lot of other restaurants. It was still good! And the sourdough bread was fantastic. My potatoes were either perfectly crispy or overly chewy, no in-between. We decided to take home a loaf of their sourdough bread, but when we cut into it later, it was definitely NOT sourdough. On the road again, past by this dinner many times finally got to stop. The waitress was excellent, efficient, kind and seemed to genuinely like what she was doing. They make 12 kinds of homemade breads. We took home a loaf of orange cinnamon which was so good toasted. We ordered the special pastrami and Swiss omelet, home fries and Anadama toast 6.95 first time I had a pastrami/Swiss omelet it was very good, toast was delicious and home fries really crunchy. We also got blueberry pancakes with an egg over easy. Egg was cooked perfectly and pancake was delicious. Coffee was hot and good quality. Loved the red white and blue theme. Who would not love breakfast with Elvis, Marilyn and the old movie posters. Will definitely be back! read more

Meh. Came here because it was voted best diner in the Concord area for several years. I ordered the French toast using their homemade Dutch apple bread. What I got were 2 thin slices of bread that were pretty flavorless. My wife's omelette was about the smallest omelette I've ever seen served for breakfast. All-in-all...meh, just barely average. Service was pleasant and efficient and it was very clean and well-kept. Alas, the food was just so-so. I had two eggs scrambled with homefries and toast. Also had a side of corned beef hash as I'd seen on Yelp that it's homemade. Nice homefries, eggs OK, toast was soggy, and hash was bland and mushy. Wife had the Eggs Benedict which she asked for without the bacon. Despite that it ended up coming with bacon. The muffins were soggy and she felt it had too much Hollandaise (I thought it looked fine.) Overall, she did not like this dish at all. Grabbed Breakfast here a while back, friendly and funny staff but the food wasn't great. My girlfriend got eggs which were undercooked and runny, I got Eggs and corn beef hash which were cold in the middle, I also got some pancakes which were ok. You won't find a more down-home country diner with New England charm than Northwood Diner. You immediately feel like you walked in to your grandma's kitchen (the grandma you like who always give you cookies, not the one who made you clip her toenails or made you edge her lawn 5 seconds after arriving). The owner even comes to visit and chat with each customer-- just to get to know them. This little spot must be home to loads of regulars, since they bake all of their bread freshly every morning on site. They must sprinkle their cinnamon raisin toast with magic fairy dust, because I was dreaming about it for days afterward. read more

There is nothing like the Northwood diner! Always delicious with wonderful friendly service. I'd like that they have made it easy to do takeout or curbside during the pandemic. Now I am from the south and we LOVE food especially breakfast and I have to say this place HANDS DOWN was the best Hashbrowns as well as french toast I have ever had ever. The Hasbrowns were tender, crispy and perfectly seasoned with onions peppers and cheese adorning its top. And there were alot of them they could almost be a breakfast all in themselves. This place looks like a totally dive kinda diner from the outside, and kinda from the inside. It's a basic big building with little character. They did try, they put up some old timey 50's posters, photos etc, but they happened to pick the cheesy iconic ones. Now I feel like I am bashing the place and I really don't mean to. The food was great! They have a big menu, with a lot to offer, and super super SUPER cheap prices! The waitstaff are on their tows and deal with the busy crowd well. As others have mentioned: the breads are the best thing going at Northwood. I had an omlet with homefries which was passable, mediocre really, though average for diner quality. They did put a lot of vegetables in it. It was good but didn't leave a big impression. The bread was great though, particulalry the apple cinnimon which the waitress recommended by saying it was one of the most popular ones. They let you try two different types if you order it with a meal. The other slice that I had was jalapeno, onion, and cheddar I believe. The flavor on that one was actually very subtle. I wanted it to be a little more spicy with a kick to it, though it was still good. I just expected more oomph. We did purchase a loaf of apple cinnimon to go. The waitress even took a new loaf from the kitchen for us because there was none left up front, which was very nice. Service was good. Our waitress was friendly and took a minute to explain the bread selection to us. The coffee was decent and they kept refilling it, which I appreciated. I also tried a bite of my boyfriend's meal which was sausage gravy over toast. It was ok, definitely not as good as other bisquits and gravy recipes I've had while traveling in the south or out west. The gravy was a little thin and more bland than similar meals I've tried. Not bad though. Prices were inexpensive. Ambience was very cliche diner and a bit divey in a charming way, with old road signs and a huge Elvis poster on one wall. It's a good place to stop if you are passing through. Excellent service and friendly staff that works well with each other to get the job done. Most of all I like the A la carte style menu, add any item for only a few bucks.
