    Corned beef sandwich

Cute little neighborhood cafe and bar walkable from Main Street in Highland Park It gets very busy for lunch, but is totally worth waiting for. They always have chili and baked onion soup in addition to a featured soup of the day. We enjoyed a meaty and tender corned beef sandwich and a bowl of chili with sides of cheese and onions. All the food was delicious. The wait staff was awesome and quick to fill up water and iced tea glasses. The owner even checked in with us and thanked us for coming in.

Norton's in Highland Park is easily my favorite bar in town! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and familiar, making you feel like you're in an episode of Cheers. I had a dirty martini, and the pours here are generous--definitely a place that knows how to treat its customers right. The bartender, Izzy, recommended the turkey melt, and it was amazing--definitely a must-try. If you're looking for a great drink, good food, and a place that feels like home, Norton's is the spot!

We split the BBQ burger and sweet potato fries. Delicious!

Delicious food and generous portions. Good menu variety. Reasonably priced. Excellent service. Terrific outdoor seating and dog friendly!

The food was just okay............... the service was okay,.. I just didn't think the food was all that great. I ordered a patty melt well done and both times the burger came out pink. Not sure what that was all about. And they charge for every topping that you get. I wished they let you know that before they ask, what all you want on the burger. But oh well.

Is it a sports bar? Is it a lounge? Is it a pub? The place was empty when we walked in. Service was quick. Sat immediately. Burger was good. Just a quick lunch stop. The ambience seems laid back. TVs everywhere. Nice area.

Norton's is a Highland Park classic. It's a stepped-up bar vibe with super friendly staff and great service. The drinks are ALWAYS generous and they have daily drink specials, too. Their Paloma's are a must try. The Asian grilled chicken salad is really good. Their grilled shrimp is excellent and can be added to any salad. They also have good tacos and quesadillas. Their soup changes but my favorite is their cold gazpacho. It's super fresh and a must-try if available that day. The best thing about Norton's is the popcorn that they give you when you sit down. It's a great snack before the meal and a fun alternative to bread or chips. Seating is offered both inside and outside. You can also order the full menu from the bar.

Cool old school looking sports bar. It has a decent amount of drinks and food. Norton's is an institution in downtown Highland Park. For sure it's nothing fancy, but you can find some decent things if you aren't too discriminating about flavor and the like. The prices are kind of high for this type of thing. About as neighborhood of a bar as you can get around here. It doesn't have the fancy atmosphere like a lot of the other downtown restaurants. They do have the high prices though. Drinks are good. It's about $12 for some basic drinks, which is not good. We decided to not get any more than one. Each of us had the Impossible Burger. It's $15, which is a lot but not as expensive as this other place was. Came with choice of a side, and we got fries. We liked it, except for the price. It looked like a basic burger. This seemed a little too expensive for this as it wasn't like it was anything amazing for sure. Good old classic looking sports bar. It also has a patio. The drinks and food are too expensive to make this a dive bar, but there's lots of good things about it, such as having a few choices for vegans and vegetarians.

My family has dined at Bob Chinn's twice in the past two weeks, and Ashley was our server on both occasions. After our first visit, I shared our positive experience with a manager, but after our most recent visit, I felt Ashley deserved to be recognized again for the exceptional service she consistently provides. We visited your restaurant this past Friday after making the heartbreaking decision to put our beloved dog down. It was an incredibly difficult day, and we were all searching for something that might bring us a little comfort. Everyone agreed that Bob Chinn's was exactly what we needed. When we sat down and realized Ashley would be our server again, we were absolutely thrilled. She is attentive, knowledgeable, and offers excellent recommendations from the menu. She is professional while also being warm, personable, and genuinely fun, creating an atmosphere that makes every guest feel welcome. On a day when we truly needed a little kindness, Ashley's outstanding service and positive attitude made a meaningful difference. Please let her know how much we appreciated her. Employees like Ashley are a big part of what keeps us coming back to Bob Chinn's. Thank you for consistently providing such a wonderful dining experience.

At the end of our meal he turned to me and said "it either used to be way better here or maybe the restaurants in the burbs have just gotten a lot better over time." Our meal last night at Pescadero was just A-OK. Our waiter got the job done, but wasn't overly helpful. Ex: he asked after we put in our entree if we wanted anything else and we decided to throw in some oysters. He then told us he didn't know if he could get them out before our entrees since he already put in the order. Well he asked, didn't he? When we asked if the east or west coast oysters were meatier his response was "they are all the same here." They get a star for having Riesling and it was a pretty tasty one. We had very unexciting shrimp cocktail and oysters for our apps. I would skip both next time, which is sad for a seafood & oyster bar. For my entree I got the scallops special. According to my last review from here i loved the scallops. These scallops (served with risotto) were enjoyable, but would probably order something else next time. And my husband said his salmon was just fine. I love a good seafood & oyster bar so bummed this didn't live up to our past meals here, but it's a nice atmosphere so was still a nice Sat evening out in downtown Wilmette.

They added an enclosed outdoor seating area, Thats lets you enjoy the breeze or sun, but protects you from the rain. It used to be a tent, so this is definitely nicer. My wife and I were seated immediately. The server quickly brought us water and garlic bread. I really like that they give you 5 fairly big pieces of garlic bread for only two people. Nice touch. We were not in a hurry and couldn't decide what we wanted so we started with the calamari salad. $29, but it's huge and chock full of those calamari guys. Lettuce is always crisp and has everything I like in it (olives, eggs, carrots, artichoke, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and romaine lettuce). We were almost full just from the salad alone. I ordered a grouper sandwich (not fried), and my lovely wife ordered the Scottish salmon plate, which comes with potatoes and grilled vegetables. My sandwich came with coleslaw and fresh cut fries. They switched to fresh cut since my last visit, and this was an upgrade. My sandwich was great, and huge too. Could not finish it. Wife's meal was a humongous slab of salmon. The veggies now come on a smaller plate, but that's okay, given the size of the fish. Service was a tad slow, but like I said, we weren't in any hurry. Total tab was $100, with tax and that pesky 3% service fee. I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. It's not a place I can go every week, but when I can splurge, and have a taste for fresh seafood, this is the best around.

We have wanted to try Miramar for a long time based on reputation and reviews, so we booked it for our 30th wedding anniversary dinner. TL/DR, food was only ok, service was attentive, but overall experience was disappointing. Selected "anniversary" on the Open Table reservation...and added in the notes that it was our 30th. Nonetheless, nobody said a word about either when we were greeted or seated. Sigh. When we ordered two glasses of champagne, the server asked if we were celebrating. Yes, we were...and were surprised nobody knew... Our meal was fine but only fine. Had the mushroom soup and endive salad, both specials, both pretty good (and the salad big enough to share). She ordered the salmon, I had the lamb shank (both on the menu). I like my food hot...and I am as a result confident that I have never written this before...the food came really hot. TOO hot. Inediblly hot. Both dishes, and especially the lamb. Once it cooled down enough to be edible, the lamb shank and basil whipped potatoes and vegetables were good (dried out a little from the heat?); the salmon was only ok and a little fishy tasting. Her glass of Pinot Grigio was quite nice; mine of Bordeaux was delicious, but served surprisingly warm for a restaurant/glass at this price point -- I'd have expected them to have a proper wine refrigerator. Then, finally... We asked about, and then decided not to have a dessert. The server was kind to bring us a well intentioned delivery of two glasses of prosecco (which we didn't drink --- had already had a champagne and a glass of wine) and asked if we'd like that dessert after all to have with it. We said "sure." They then charged us for the dessert... For the record, our server was kind and attentive and professional, and the rest of the team were equally so. But, in summary, for a pretty aggressive price point, this was a disappointing experience on a night we hoped would be special. Perhaps we're victims of a holiday weekend meal...we're hoping ours isn't a typical experience.

We actually thought we'd be the only "early birders," but the bar area filled up surprisingly fast, so clearly this happy hour is popular with the locals. Our favorite dish is the tomahawk steaks, and we prefer to sit in the round booths to easily talk to everyone. I made the reservations weeks in advance for a special occasion, booking a table for three. Upon our arrival, the gentleman at the front desk had us seated at a middle table between the bar and the high-traffic area of the bathrooms and waiting staff, despite my request for a round booth. I was told that the round booths were unavailable and the booths along the walls were reserved for larger groups. Ironically, we noticed that the booths were filled with parties of two and three throughout the evening, contrary to what we had been told. Our waiter was terrific, as usual, and the food was very good overall. However, the tomahawk steaks were disappointing. We ordered them cooked medium, but they arrived overcooked on the outside and raw in the middle, which was extremely underwhelming. We chose not to address this with our waiter, as he was quite busy, and I didn't want to spoil the mood of our special occasion. Overall, while the service and the atmosphere remain top-notch, the inconsistency with our seating request and the preparation of the tomahawk steaks left us feeling less than satisfied.

We were greeted straight away and brought water. You can also get a full meal here which we did not know but noted for our next visit. It was a lovely blend of tart raspberry and warm almond--we loved it! The service was lovely throughout our experience. Get to it!
