This place has everything going for it. The salad I had was a kale/quinoa with a light vinaigrette. It was perfection from the cook on the quinoa to the cut on the peppers in the salad. This is an AMAZING little bakery! The Sausage Bread is AMAZING! And they have fresh stuffed bread you can buy! It is always FRESH! If you order a sandwich, it is made right in front of you, and you can customize it to whatever you would like. In addition, as it is a bakery, the crater cupcakes are a MUST if you are in town! It is their BEST cupcake, and it is just to DIE FOR! So you must try it! However, literally everything in their bakery case is amazing, and I would recommend it all. Lastly, their hummus is also SUPER great! I love that you can come here, and they have extremely healthy options! Their smoothie is all fresh fruit- and is so delicious. In addition, there is an option to get vegetables and fresh hummus as a side instead of the chips etc. that you normally see. I appreciate the healthy options that are available! read more

The cakes from this place area amazing. My favorite is the carrot cake, so flavorful. Their savory breads are also fantastic. I usually pick up from them, and serve their Parmesan pull apart bread as an appetizer. In all the years I have bought things from them, I only had one problem, EVER, and they took care of it. I went to this little Bistro style Eatery with my Aunt about a month ago. My first impression of the place was cold, and I didn't want to be there. There is less than a ten foot space between the front counter, and the exit/enter doors. When a line gets to forming, there is no room to move around, people are excusing themselves to move in front or behind you, and the noise of multiple conversations bouncing off the walls, floors and the screech of moving chairs and tables was off-putting. Once we ordered our food, which I thought was way overpriced for a cold cuts sandwich on Ciabatta Bread , and a Turkey Sandwich on Wheat, we grabbed the only empty table in the room. Our only other option would have been to ascend onto stools that were far too high for either of us to navigate. Once we sat down, we attempted to have a coherent conversation while we waited for our number to be called. That was a pointless endeavor thanks to the volume of the voices around us. While the food was quite good, the atmosphere ruined it for me. People who were still waiting for their food, were staring around and those of us who were eating already. It was far too exposed for my taste. If the Owners were to consider a complete redesign of the Eatery, keeping noise, privacy and comfort in mind, I would consider dining there again. Until then, I won't be frequenting this establishment more than I already have. read more

I love Not By Bread Alone, started buying things from them at the farmer's market and then had lunch in the restaurant today. They have a great variety of salads, sandwiches, and pasta salads. I recommend their sausage cheese bread and raspberry cream cheese bread, both are very tasty and come in large loaves. This is a little gem in Green Bay. My family and I love swinging by here on our way out of town and grabbing a sausage muffin or egg, ham, and cheese muffin warmed up to go. Best to go breakfast or perfect to pick them up and take home for company. Serve with a side of fruit and you are done! I also love their chicken salad. It is not sweet which is great for me because I don't love chicken salad with grapes which seems to be popular a lot of places. I was really looking forward to trying this place for Restaurant Week based off the the wonderful reviews I saw. The atmosphere is very nice, the people are friendly and the food is indeed fresh. The veggies with peanut sesame dip were wonderful! This was the highlight of my meal. The dessert was a "crater cupcake" which was described as a chocolate chip cookie dough/cheesecake cupcake. This was interesting and had great flavor but was ultimately way too sweet for me. (Just a preference thing.) My main critique was with my entree. I had the Crunchy romaine chicken salad. This is labeled to come with a "light vinaigrette." Wonderful, I love a vinaigrette. I assumed it would has an Asian flair since there were wonton strips on the salad? I did taste it on it's own first and only tasted flavorless oil. I'm guessing grapeseed? Zero flavor. But looking at it, it did appear to have some kind of seasoning at the bottom so I hoped it was just separated and I gave it a good stir and put it on my salad. Nope. Not just separated. I was given a little cup of just oil for my salad. It was really hard to just power through it, so I tried to be creative. There were lemons on the counter for with hot tea. I grabbed some of those and some black pepper and tried to make my own vinaigrette. It was better but still a very difficult salad to finish. I was so disappointed because it looked wonderful and the ingredients were so fresh. So my suggestion would be to them that your "vinaigrette" is in desperate need of vinegar and emulsifiers. I may return to try other things on the menu that looked appealing but will exercise caution on getting salads. read more

I had to get dropped off for my dress fitting at Elaine's before they open, so I decided to stop here assuming they'd have better coffee than the nearby Applebee's and Kwik Trip. I was right!! Their latte's are so good!! And their salad selection sounded so amazing I had to have an early lunch too. I'm glad I did! When we got the order in yesterday, they were SO helpful and knowledgeable about what we were needing / wanting, and they delivered everything as ordered, on time, to exactly where we needed it. The price was phenomenal for everything we ordered, and in such wonderful quality. My executives said everything was delicious and just right. Thank you, Not By Bread Alone!!!!! This rated well on breakfast restaurants and didn't disappoint. I really just came in for a breakfast sandwich on the was to the airport. I wound up getting 2 cookies, several bars and brownies and a sausage muffin, plus a coffee. I planned to eat the sausage muffin on the way even though they have nice seating. I never made it out of the parking lot with the muffin. I actually said "OMG!" aloud. The pastry was so soft, the sausage nicely spicy-I almost ran in and got more. I'm hesitant to even go back here. I have bought brownies from here and they were dry. I decided to go again today to give it another shot. The cashier was extremly rude. I asked for a price for a piece of cheesecake. She said in snarky voice "i think it is 3.50 or whatever. It doesnt matter." she then walked away. I ended up buying a piece of cheesecake. As she went to get it she said "oh...well we dont have any." she tried to ask if i want a piece of turtle cheesecake i said " no I dont like chocolate." she then proceeded to laugh at me because of that simple statement. She huffed and puffed and said " fine I can refund you." she gave me the reciept for a refund. After her snotty, rude attitude I still wished her a good day. AKA, NBBA, for those in the know. I have lived and/or worked in Green Bay for seven years, and in those seven years, I have never been disappointed by NBBA. Their seasonally-decorated sugar cookies are phenomenal for baby/bridal showers or sucking up to your co-workers. Coffee/lattes = always outstanding. Sausage bread ::heavy breathing:: They carry take-and-reheat/bake frozen soups and entrees (lobster bisque or lasagna, anyone). Currently crunching on a cherry danish (perfectly balanced ratio of sour cherries to sugar to cream cheese filling) paired with a caramel latte (perfect temperature, perfect ratio of espresso/milk/shot of caramel). I haven't had many of their sandwiches or salads only because the ones I have tried are so good that I return to those again and again. Basque Country Salad & the Asian Salmon Salad are my tried and trues. My only advice for a yelp-er is to either call in an order ahead of time or don't expect to get food like a half hour before they close, since they shut down their oven at that time. read more

I had high expectations after reading all of the glowing reviews. However, everything we ordered was a disappointment. The bread on the tuna sandwich was soggy (sopping wet soggy) and the sandwich was not edible. The granola squares were mediocre and the cherry cheesecake tasted like it came from a Sara Lee box. Had the pleasure of walking in to this Green Bay gem on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 right about noon. What a wonderful experience. All of the staff were pleasant and efficient. The other customers came in obviously very aware of the BEST choices in the cooler of take home treats. You can tell that everything is made from scratch with quality ingredients. I ordered the spring pea soup with ham havarti sandwich. The soup was amazing, perfect texture and flavorful. The bread was fluffy and soft with a nice crust, which made it perfect for dipping in my soup. Super friendly staff and relaxed coffee shop atmosphere made you feel right at home.
