We like to try new restaurants and one afternoon we decided to try out this location. First of all upon entering the cafe it was not very clean, dishes were piling up in the buss tubs and the tables had crumbs. Then when we got to the counter to order the woman helping us seemed rather annoyed when she realized that we had never been there and that she had to walk us through the order process. Finally we made our choice on a warm chicken sandwich with mushrooms. When we got our sandwiches they were anything but warm and the mushrooms were slimy. This was not appealing and for the amount of money we spent it was a waste because we threw it all away. read more

I have been a good customer at Not by Bread Alone for years now. The food is amazing but on several occasions the manager Kim has been extremely unfriendly towards me and other staff members over the years. We have been confused on why this is as we have given them a lot of business and should be considered good customers. A few days ago I had ordered lunch and went to pick up my order. There was 3 girls behind the counter and the Manager Kim. I heard one of the girls state my last name here to pick up the order. Kim looked at me and then whispered into one on the girls behind the counters ear and walked off. The girl looked at me oddly and completed the transaction. This was the final straw for me. No one deserves to be treated that way especially a good customer. I will never go there again. read more

I organised a work lunch. They have a very reasonably priced lunch menu and the food was fantastic. Plenty of variety and we couldn't finish everything we were given. After visiting several bakeries in the Green Bay area, we settled on Not By Bread Alone for our wedding cake. Leslie was very flexible and was willing to create just what we wanted. They created a layered cake with almonds, Door County cherries, cheesecake, and white cake. Almond buttercream and sliced almonds were on the outside. The cake was amazing! read more

It's hard to eat healthy on vacation, but I am SO glad that we stopped in for a delicious, healthful lunch at Not By Bread Alone. My family & I were pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a bakery tucked in a strip mall near our hotel. I ordered the cheesy artichoke wrap with a side of veggies. My husband opted for the bacon turkey wrap. We also got a cup of chicken tortellini soup and a cup of fennel tomato soup for each of our boys. The soups were delicious. I was especially impressed by the tomato fennel soup, which had just the right balance of each of the two namesake flavors. My one year old was less than impressed, but he happily ate half of my cheesy, mushroomy artichokey wrap (which I reluctantly shared because it was SO tasty). NBBA knows their flavor combinations like the back of their hand...like it's their job. Everything was seasoned to perfection, even their lemonade. Although our time here is short, we are already talking about trying to come back to try out their famous sausage bread and their famous cherry bread & our bellies can't wait! read more

I can say enough about Not By Bread Alone!! They catered a 90th birthday party for our Mother. There were 100 friends celebrating and we didn't have to do anything but have fun. Decided to try this place out at the request of a family member who loved it. The food quality was slightly above par. The portions however were a joke. I ordered the hot meatloaf sandwich and veggies and dip. I did so mainly because the only two soup options they had both sounded incredibly sketchy. Mushroom mustard soup? I'm sure a lot of people say it's amazing, I apparently lack the bravery required to try it. The meatloaf flavor was fantastic however very, very simple. The veggie dip was incredible and in my opinion the best part of the meal. Not a bad atmosphere, I did get a pretty good laugh at the married couple on their phones announcing how much money they had to everyone in the building. Reminds me a lot of a small restaurant in Duluth called Amazing Grace. Overall a good experience, and I'm sure I will return in the future. Just wish you'd get more for your money, seriously small and skimpy portions. Salads looked to be the better value. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, she even laughed at my skepticism about mustard soup. read more
