Everyone knows that finding food in tourist-heavy towns can be hard. I visited Notchtop after reading some reviews, arriving a little before 8am on a Saturday morning. What I liked is that you don't get a lot of tourists; it's a place the locals go--always a good sign! There is plenty of staff because of how full it gets with the morning crowd. (There was a wait of multiple parties by the time we left, so go early!) The menu is big and there's something for everyone. I opted for the huevos rancheros, which were good but not superb. Service was great, hence why I'm giving Notchtop four stars. This is a place I'd visit again if in Estes Park again. Good food and service! read more

Leaving Rocky Mountain National Park we wanted a hearty hot breakfast and Notchtop did not disappoint. The line when we arrived was seating within minutes and the staff was hustling. I got the Santa Fe skillet and you could choose between green and red chili. I also love that they offer iced coffee with free refills! Eggs weren't poached, they were still runny. Tasted good though - like a ground beef taco/enchilada. A tad spicy. Potatoes were delish! Banana bread French toast combo $13.49- 2 eggs any style (we got scrambled), 3 pieces of bacon, and banana bread french toast (menu says 2 pieces, but it's basically 4 halves so it's a big portion). Banana bread very tasty (we are both suckers for banana bread). Only 1 piece of bacon was crispy, the other 2 were a bit fatty. Scrambled eggs were fluffy. We came here around 12pm on Monday because there was a long line outside of The Egg of Estes. However, we were able to eat there the next day, and we both preferred The Egg of Estes (got a benedict and egg scramble over there - both $13.79). Notchtop is where the old, local folks go every weekend, and they know your name (lol). I was happy with my food, so it's still a good choice if you don't want to wait at The Egg of Estes. read more

Wow what a great breakfast! This was our first stop before heading up for hiking at RMNP and it was delicious. Super cute atmosphere and the staff were all super nice. For a party of four, we didn't have to wait very long for a table and the food came out quickly! You could really find anything you could want on this menu. I ordered a pumpkin spice latte and the Santa Fe Hash, and the rest of my family ordered a variety of meals. I thought my meal was delicious - everything was seasoned really well and my coffee was great for the chilly, cloudy day. My partner found some things that were vegan to eat, but it was definitely more limited options. My parents also loved the cinnamon rolls, so I'd definitely recommend those! read more

The four of us went in for breakfast at around 8ish on a Monday. We immediately were seated at a table outside. Our server was so nice and was able to give us some suggestions. What I ordered: I got the veggie (tofu) burrito without the tortilla wrap. It was a nice portion and the flavor was nice! It was a good vegetarian option. The drinks are hit-and-miss, the soups are scratch made and delicious, the sandwiches are decent, the elk burger is basic but tasty. Almost a four-star joint, but service is confused, understaffed and harried; understandable, I suppose, in Covid times. I'd give 'em that star, too, if the place didn't also suffer (as so many popular places do) with cleanliness issues in the dining room and woefully inadequate restrooms (always a line, it seems). This place was beyond bogus. We ate here on February 22nd. The owner had a blurb about herself posted in the restaurant about how she creates every menu item herself. We were on vacation and we specifically picked this restaurant because there was a menu item featuring "Bison" that we wanted to try. Which is not common where we are from. The waitress said that was a seasonal menu item and they no longer offered it. But for whatever reason they're menus online and in the restaurant we're not updated. In order Childrens Mac and cheese for my 4 year old and this was literally KRAFT MACARONI AND CHEESE. Paid $8 for a $1 box of Kraft macaroni and cheese.... If I wanted to eat Kraft Mac and cheese, we could have just bought a box from the grocery store and cooked it back at our hotel... I thought the owner created all the menu items herself??? Please look at the pic I attached.... The cream of mushroom soup was basically Campbells soup, it was very thick and heavy with flour, not real dairy cream. The service was beyond slow. We are here on vacation and found this place yesterday. The breakfast tacos were spicy, my son loved his omelet with chili, and my daughter devoured her chicken fried steak. So today we went back and it was again amazing. My daughter repeated the chicken fried steak and again was pleased, my son tried the carnivore omelet and loved it, and I had the dragon egg hollandaise.
