4.5 is my overall review. Let's get into why. Three hungry travelers we were, rolling into Estes park at 7:30am. I googled breakfasts, did little research and we wound up at Notch Top. We were seated immediately and our waitress was kind, if not a bit uninterested. We had to flag down another waiter to get our coffees refilled (the .5 deduction). Otherwise ambiance was cool, plenty of locals telling bear stories & a beautiful display of pastries. Now for the food! We ordered 2 of the meaty hash meals and a Denver omelette. NO NOTES. The food was delicious! The gravy, wow. The biscuit... so soft. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food! Would I eat here again? Yes. Should you try this place out? Absolutely. GPS really didn't want to find this place, so I'm glad we saw it in the back of a strip center. Quite busy at lunchtime, we were still seated fairly quickly. With a large menu, we finally decided on lunch. I went with the turkey panini and onion rings, while my wife had the veggie panini with tofu and sweet potato fries. My panini was good but was a little dry. Onion rings were excellent. My wife didn't think the tofu in her sandwich had a lot of flavor, but she really enjoyed the sweet potato fries. Even though they were busy, service was relatively prompt and quite friendly. read more

We ordered lunch items, mostly sandwiches, and everything tasted good but nothing was really hot, and my sandwich was soggy. It took an hour to get our food, so be prepared to wait. My son mentioned the fries tasted like "to go fries" which I thought was a good description lol because they weren't crispy at all. It's very popular so I can understand the food wait time, but I was expecting the food to at least be fresh when it finally arrived. We probably won't be back. read more

I can't believe I haven't tried this place as many times as we've been to Estes Park... It was one of the best breakfast we've had in a long time. Everything was delicious. This is our favorite breakfast spot in Estes Park! The food here is consistently good and is always hearty. On our last visit I got the corned beef hash, which was cooked well (not overcooked) and came with a delicious side of toast. My wife got steak and eggs and she loved them. We also got a side of fruit, which was a nice contrast to the savory breakfasts. The service is always good as well. Be prepared to wait on the weekend as it's a very popular place, but it's definitely worth the wait! read more

:: Food :: I ordered the Cave Man Hash and it was good, it was a pretty big portion and it was flavorful. :: Service :: Customer service was HORRENDOUS. We legitimately sat for THE longest time for our waitress to take our order and believe it or not our waitress NEVER came to service us, another waitress that was taking care of her own tables had to help us take our order since we waved her down. We knew they were busy so we assumed we'd be serviced as soon as they were available, but wow that was pretty ridiculous. The only reason I'm giving an extra star is because the waitress who ended up taking our order was apologizing profusely and even comped us a cinnamon roll. Apparently the waitress that was supposed to serve our table is named Susanna? (It was some 'S' name). The manager heard about the situation and apologized to us too. I truly believe if we did not wave anyone down, we would have been waiting for hours, there were so many instances when a worker would walk by and not ask if we needed anything. THEN to make matters worse, apparently our order was "forgotten" so we waited even longer, thank goodness we were not in a rush... Man, can you even imagine?... The waitress apologized again and gave us cookies to-go. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad taste in my mouth, especially when we were just trying to enjoy Colorado. It really made us think.. is it because we were the only minority or was it merely a coincidence? I guess we'll never know... *shrug* read more

Great diner! This is a wonderful spot for brunch. They have great food with a classic American diner feel. Even during the brunch rush, they were able to serve our food quickly. Estes Park does not have very many restaurants, but Notchtop is a great addition to the scene. read more

Small place but we got seated right away. It was about 9:30 am and it got super busy after that. There were 4 of us in our group. The service was awesome. We got our food shortly. This pork green sauce was amazing. I have never had it before and ordered it on the side of my chorizo omelette. It was so good I wanted more of it, but I was so full of that delicious omelette. Always happy to give a shout out to places that do tea right. Here, you get an individual teapot with at least 16oz and loose leaf tea. Love that. The food was great too. Had turkey bacon sub for bacon. Special ricotta berry crepes were excellent. Omelette was maybe a little dry, but this is a matter of preference. I ate breakfast and lunch at the Notchtop about 5 times over the course of a week visit to Estes Park. The main menu plus bakery items offers a great selection and always tasted great. But the service was even better. Esmeralda and Luis were both attentive as well as remembered my nuances (like providing me with a carafe of iced tea to quench my thirst and knowing what I previously had for dessert) which made for a great experience every time. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to locals as well as tourists like me. read more

This place is okay. It's not close to the hype as displayed on this app. First, we entered the establishment and sat for a solid 5 minutes before someone greeted us, yet they were right next to us. The food was pretty good. I highly recommend the warm apple cider and the pancakes. However, I waited and waited for syrup and extra plate. By the time I got the items, my food was cold and I didn't bother with the eggs. Lastly, leaving was horrendous because again we waited for our waitress to take the bill and card. Finally my husband had to go up and put it into our waitress hand. And what did she do, put it under her arm and tend to all the other tables. Needless to say, the food was good, service was shotty. PS they charge you 3 dollars a piece of toast (a single, burnt slice) Do what you will with that information. read more

We came here for a hearty meal before hiking in the Rockies. My Polish breakfast was exactly what I needed. I also asked for biscuit to swap out the toasts. My friend got an omelette and hash brown though she found the hash brown was a bit too greasy for her liking. Our servers filled up our coffee and water attentively. This place is amazing! I was so hungry both times I didn't take a picture of my food. First time I had the trout salad- it was perfect! My Dad had the cob, loved it and brother had some caveman meal and said I was great too. Then went for brunch a few days later. Everyone loved their food- biscuits and gravy, croissant French toast, burger and eggs! The Bloody Mary and mimosas were also a great touch. For the mimosas, you got a mini bottle of the cupcake champagne, and then many cups of the juice or juices of your choice. Severe were attentive and polite! We came in here our 2nd morning in Estes Park. If nothing else the view of the Rockies from our table was worth the trip. Our server was super friendly and helpful. It did take a little while to get our orders in but once we did the process moved decently. Portions are a good size and everyone was happy with what we ordered. Had the seasonal item the berries with crepes and it was delicious! They let me substitute eggs for home fried potatoes. Also enjoyed a cappuccino. My husband had biscuits and gravy and really liked it. We sat on the patio and they allowed our small dog. They even brought him a water bowl! The service was very friendly. Busy and smells good! Always good signs. Kid had the breakfast sandwich on croissant. She had the Peak waffles with fruit and toasted almonds. They both said 3-4 star rating. I ordered the turkey club with avocado and bacon. It was good - but he first club I've had that "leaked" with turkey juice. It tasted good, but I wanted to wrap half if it for later to take with me on a hike, and that probably won't work well without a mess. Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - Chicken fried steak and sunny side up eggs had a large serving but the eggs were burst when we opened the container to eat. It was a bit over cooked and not enough gravy but it was crispy on the outside Dragon's Egg Rock Benedict has a kick to the sauce which is quite interesting on a Benedict. Really enjoyed that it was more of a pancake rather than English muffin since it was soft and absorbed the sauce on top well. Impressed by the seasoning on the potatoes since ketchup/sauce wasn't really needed Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go, their bakery display was a little sad :( Service: 2/5 - we did come about 30 minutes before closing so they were a bit frustrated that we wanted to order food to go as they were eating themselves and cleaning up. The food was good here, prices were on par with what you'd expect for Estes Park. Service was fine, but the environment felt a little hectic with lots of tables/foot traffic because it can get very crowded, especially on the weekend. Not sure what the Yelp hype is surrounding Notchtop. Service was polite yet slow for a Wednesday at lunch. The Irish Benedict was quite savory, unique and delicious. The croissant French toast was quite boring - you'd never know it was a croissant. The iced coffee was awful, it tasted like brewed coffee left it cool. Prices are good for a tourist town. It all sounded good on paper but the ingredients weren't great. The turkey had a grey tinge and the sweet potato fries weren't fried long enough so they were soggy. Located right next to the Safeway grocery store, very convenient to have breakfast and hit the grocery before heading into Rocky Mountain national park. The menu is overwhelming, just the breakfast menu took 3 pages. They also offer deli sandwiches to go for picnic in The park for $7.99 so you don't have to get deli and make your own. Had the Texas sandwich which is very good with choice of meat and bread. Perfectly toasted and egg is runny. Tried their specialty latte hazelnut and truffle it was a bit too sweet to my taste. read more
