I can see why many people like this place. Hell, I dig the space and the concept. Just the execution of the pizza wasn't up to par. Right outside Rocky Mountain National Park, and directly across from their main outpost, Bird & Jim. This place serves it all: coffee, smoothies, breakfast, baked goods, pizza, salads, soups, wraps, etc. Each menu varies depending on the time of day obviously. The space itself is gorgeous, and not something you'd expect in a mountain town. The high ceilings and massive windows allow you to soak up any mountain and sunset views. They have a nice little patio outside and yes, you'll probably see elk grazing across the street! The pizza left more to be desired. I ordered a simple margherita ($18) and an Odell beer. I would've prefered the pizza to be cooked for another minute in the oven personally, but that's not a knock on them. It desperately needed salt. In the dough and on the tomatoes. The tomatoes slid right off every time I tried to take a bite. It was just severely under-seasoned and really didn't have any flavor at all. I would actually come back here because I do like restaurant concepts like these that offer different experiences throughout the day. A great place to hang out and recharge. Nice spot. I thought the atmosphere and ambience were fantastic, it's a very cool, well-designed space, and I felt it was a great spot to relax. I also found the coffee to be excellent; I could tell they take their brewing seriously, and I really appreciated the high quality of the beans. However, I was a bit disappointed with the food. I ordered a pastry, and I found it to be fairly mediocre, which was frustrating given that I thought it was very expensive for the quality. My overall takeaway is that I found the experience to be a bit pricey for what I actually received. We stayed at the little cabins next door to this place and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and coffee I feel that Estes has very few nice dining places, most are mediocre at best, so it was nice to find one more place to finally add to the list of places to come back to The first time we dropped in we were a bit hungry so we shared a pizza. It was a little over the top but extremely good! We are on a road trip and had an amazing morning viewing elk in RMNP. We have loved visiting Colorado and can see why Coloradans are proud of their glorious natural parks, peaks, and forests. This cafe has beautiful views from the upstairs seating area and is conveniently situated close to the entrance of RMNP. Our drinks were great, and our pastries were also so good. We felt that the woman working the counter was unnecessarily hostile towards us, she seemed annoyed at us just for ordering. This intensified when I asked if she could heat a cinnamon roll (which is fine to give it to us cold, I just didn't expect the negativity upon asking, considering that there was a toaster/microwave thing right there and no line). I had seen photos of the beautiful melting icing cinnamon roll online, and that's mainly what brought us in. When we were sitting upstairs, we heard her being really sweet/nice to everyone else that came in. I just felt unwelcome. This cafe was a very nice spot for us to grab lunch in the middle of our roadtrip. I got the why the fig not pizza which was $20 but the portion was pretty big. One thing I wish is that the dough had a bit more flavor or salt because once I got to the crust it didn't have any flavor. The service was good and it's a nice small business. The restrooms were clean and I liked the wallpaper they had inside. They also have a water refilling station near the restroom so it was a perfect pit stop. read more

Ok, so I was determined to find the best cinnamon roll in Estes Park. This was not the best cinnamon roll in Estes Park . It was more of a croissant type of roll, when I was really hankering after the kind with that soft, doughy texture. Did it taste bad? Absolutely not. So I can't comment on anything else except that the muffin was a bit better. I found overall this not to be my top pick for bakeries, though! I fell in love with the views at this cafe. The second floor offers gorgeous views of the mountain while you enjoy your food. I stopped by for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing flavor of their burritos. They are freshly made since they have a working kitchen. This is the perfect pit stop either on your way in our out of a hike in the Rocky Mountains! I was visiting a friend in town and we stopped here for matcha's after our morning hike. I added the CBD add on to mine which was a nice twist and the drinks were 10/10. The customer service was great, the gal making drinks was very friendly and quick. I visited the Bird's Nest every day that I was in Estes Park, including a special trip at 6am before I left for the airport... yes it really is that good! First let me start by saying: pristine location and aesthetic inside. Gorgeous views of the mountains, plentiful seating and an adorable loft area perfect for catching up with friends. Service was excellent and friendly, offering recommendations for what to try. The drinks? Incredible. I tried multiple seasonal lattes and an evergreen latte, all amazing. Baked goods?? Get a biscotti to dip in your coffee (trust me). The PIZZA? My gosh, so unexpectedly good for a coffee shop. The Bird's Nest was one of my favorite foodie locations in Estes and my only regret is I live out of state and can't visit more often. read more

Pretty location, good coffee and food. We went there a few times for our morning coffees and once for lunch. The ppl working in the am were wonderful and sweet. Yesterday for lunch not so much, The 2 women working were rude and seemed like we were annoying them and their day. The younger was especially hostile and seemed very annoyed that she had to go ask if they can make one of our pizzas specialized. Next time we will make sure to take our money elsewhere seeing as though every other place we went everyone is so friendly and welcoming. If I was the owner I'd find more friendly staff. Good food doesn't make up for poor customer service. read more

Great place! They have lots of great coffee options. We stayed for lunch and I got a GF turkey club. I appreciate how many gluten free options they have, even baked goods! They serve sandwiches with fresh homemade potato chips, that was a nice treat! The inside is really nice, great upstairs area but sometimes it's closed for events. With all the businesses in Estes, I would highly recommend not giving your patronage to this place. While trying to get a morning cup of coffee here, a man (another customer) had placed orange cones randomly in several parking spots amongst a very full lot and surrounding lots. He was out there policing these cones, stating he was having an event at Birds Nest and wanted to save spots for his guests. He threatened to go get the manager and have us towed. Not sure if this was true or not, but we didn't bother to stick around. I can't believe a business would limit other paying customers patronage by allowing another random customer to block parking spots. Love the location and serene views! This is the perfect stop between souvenir shopping and scenic photo ops, for a refreshing beverage and baked treat. They do offer sugar free syrup options for coffee and other speciality drinks , which was a huge bonus for me. I happened to meet the owner who was so sweet, and she said they rent out their facility for weddings and other events as well. Really a neat place all around! Coffee was great. We have food allergies and the baristas were very helpful in accommodating them. Got the chipmunk smoothie... it was super smooth and DELICIOUS. Loved the vibe here - everything from the decor, high ceiling, bright natural lighting, rustic, soft music. Staff were so welcoming too! We ordered a pizza, the meadow latte, and evergreen latte. I'm not a coffee drinker and I totally forgot that sometimes you can ask for no coffee in a latte so i only took a sip of the Meadow Latte because I forgot to ask if they can do without coffee. However my partner mentioned that both drinks were good choices. If you like the floral, go for the meadow, if you like mint go with Evergreen. We ordered a vegetarian pizza that had different sizes and colors of cherry tomatoes, and I believe kale - it was sooooooooo good! Hard to pick up and eat because the Tomatoes were whole and heavy, but I loved the smokiness of the crust with the charred ingredients on top. Highly recommended! We really wanted to view the upstairs but since there was a private event happening, we couldn't see the beautiful view of Estes or the Rockies from their top level.
