Got a triple berry pie and truthfully it looked and tasted like it came from a factory. Wife had pie there a couple years ago and raved about it but obviously something changed. Good news is I used the berry filling to make syrup for French toast. read more

What a find! We love pie- and actually are pie judges for the American Pie Council. This restaurant takes 1st place. We shared a chicken pot pie for dinner, and the portion size was large enough that we had leftovers for breakfast. We followed that with chocolate peanut butter pie- and what a delight. The filling was creamy and the flavors of peanut butter and chocolate were a wonderful combination . The flaky crust was perfect. We would definitely visit this restaurant again. 4/26/25-Went to grab lunch here, but as we were waiting to order we saw other people's food coming out and were disappointed. They were serving small portions for high prices. Instead we decided to just try their pies. The pies were about average in quality with neither one really standing out in any way. We grabbed takeout pie from this spot. We tried the apple, peanut butter, and s'mores pies. The apple was good, but not as much cinnamon as I usually enjoy. The s'mores pie was relatively simple. It seemed like a graham cracker crust, chocolate pie, and marshmallows on top. What kind of diner doesn't serve breakfast all day? Food quality was substandard, menu was very limited and pricey.

My daughter and I grabbed some take-out from here for dinner early last month and it was a decent experience. We ordered our food and waited about 10-15 minutes, which was good considering how busy they were. I ordered the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and my daughter ordered a veggie burrito with a side of fruit. The chicken fried steak was good but was thin and not a big portion that you expect when ordering a chicken fried steak, and the amount of scrambled eggs was kind of a joke, (see my pics). My daughter liked her burrito but again, it was small. It looks like they cut it in half and we got one half. For the prices they charge, I expected to get a bit more food than what we got. I was looking at the pie's and one slice was almost $7. I absolutely love pie but I couldn't bring myself to paying that much for one slice. If/when we venture out to EP again, I'm not sure if I would go back. read more

Not great service. The server told us what was in the burrito only for it to arrive with something completely different. When we asked about it he acted as though the conversation had never happened. We double checked to confirm what he told us "the veggie burrito has lettuce, onions, mushrooms, peppers and no eggs." When it arrived it was entirely eggs and hash browns. Besides that it was fine. Update: our youngest started vomiting on the way home a few hours after eating here and has been doing so ever since - it's been 24 hours, she has been vomiting all night. All symptoms point to food poisoning. We will not be back. This was our first visit to You Need Pie. What we liked: Our waiter was really hospitable, friendly, and did his best to provide service in a timely way despite being the only server available for all the customers. The coffee was decent, though in a small mug, and so was the hot chocolate we orders for the kids (which came with whipped cream, much to their delight!). The decor on the walls felt kind of scanty but what is there was cute. There is a pretty wide pie selection. Food serving sizes were okay. The single person bathroom was clean. What we didn't like: *The $2 veg add-ins of onion and jalapeños to the $12 omelette were raw. *The corned beef hash was extremely basic and barely seasoned, the potatoes were well cooked but bland and pale. It was edible but not worth $15. *Our party ordered a $9 bread bowl soup and waffle fries as well; it was eaten but the cheese ingredient was really overpowering in flavor - the small size was a good thing, in this case, because otherwise it couldn't have been finished. *The batter on the chicken tenders in the kid's meal were almost burnt on the edges, but still pale everywhere else. Something off with the oil temperature I guess. They didn't get eaten. *The color of everything was pretty much all beige and served on white plates, which impacted the impression of the meal - zero visual appeal. One of my favorite parts of eating at mom-and-pop diners is the way the meals feel homey, warming you from the inside out. This did not create that kind of impression. Lastly, the pie (which was the main draw for us and why we picked this dining option). We ordered one slice of rhubarb at $6.25. The pie was very disappointing - something in it was either stale or had gone bad. It tasted really unpleasant and we ended up throwing it away. Our total for everything was about $80 with tip and it was sadly not money well spent. We love stand alone dining options but probably will not be returning. read more

Stopped in on a whim after a winter hike. We hadn't eaten since breakfast and were hungry. Although we had lunch plans elsewhere, we were enticed to buy a whole pie! We brought it home for that evening. After some debate, we settled on a cherry peach pie. The filling, as you can see, is generous. This is a pie packed with yummy goodness. The establishment is tiny, hole-in-the-wall vibe. Service was friendly; we were greeted upon walking in. Next time, I'd go for a few different slices rather than one whole pie, mainly so we could sample more flavors. Price was pretty standard for buying a whole pie - I think between $30-35. A good pie place. I got slices of the mango key lime pie and the chocolate peanut butter pie. The mango key lime pie was outstanding-I loved the graham cracker crust, the tanginess of the key limes, and the small tastes of the sweet mango. I found the chocolate peanut butter pie to have too much cream on the top which overwhelmed the chocolate and peanut butter, and the crust to have a subpar texture. I would suggest to You Need Pie that they get rid of their "Straight Outta the Oven" merchandise. While I'm sure they intended no harm, it is an uncomfortable reference to the concentration camps. read more

What changed? My friends have visited "You Need Pie" multiple times over the past three years on our way to RMNP for breakfast and pie. Unfortunately the last visit was not good. Wanting something different, I ordered the breakfast burrito with chicken fried steak and gravy and it was very greasy. Since it was peach season I ordered a slice of the apple ginger peach. This eatery was located in a large shopping center with adequate parking spaces. My wife and I ate here twice. We ate grilled liver one night and meat loaf another night. The sides that we ate were steamed veggies, mashed potato, and shaved brussel spouts. We also had a raspberry rhubarb pie. The liver was tender, but was not seasoned. It needed salt and black pepper. The meatloaf was soft and beefy, really good. The mashed potato and veggies were ordinary. The pie was disappointing. The crust was too mushy and too thin on the bottom. We went to this diner based on their website. They advertised a very enticing number of flavorful pies. We arrived around 5 PM on a Saturday, so I am sure people had been in and out all day long. There were still quite a few pies, but most of what I would consider the favorites were already gone. We decided to get dinner to go & take back to our Airbnb and enjoy . I ordered the meatloaf dinner for my hubby. It came with a side of mashed potatoes and some green beans. He is very particular about his meatloaf. He rated it as average +, and said the cream beans were not done enough for him which is subjective of course. The mashed potatoes were good. I ordered the chicken pot pie. it came in a pint container that contained lots of potatoes, some carrots and cream gravy, and a small quantity of boneless chicken. The crust was separate, which was nice, so it didn't get soggy, but I honestly am unsure of exactly what the crust consisted of. It was tasty for sure!! It was a hearty meal due to the large volume of potatoes in the filling. We were too full to consume our pie that evening . We ended up taking home five slices of pie. Two slices of apple for our granddaughter one slice of chocolate pecan for- hubby, and I to share - one slice of apple for the hubby and a slice of peach rhubarb for me. All the pies were tasty., To me the crust was not delicate, but it was flavorful. Apple was the top pick of everybody.(yes, we all tasted each other's pies.) Our tab for two meals to go, and five slices of pie nicely pieced into a pie tin including tip was $65. It's a cute little diner with a nice space outside when the weather is cooperative. The entrees come with 2 sides. The max and cheese is gooey and delicious. The seared veggies were cauliflower and broccoli. The chicken was perfectly fried and battered and juicy. Stopped to get some pie. Service is terrible. They sell Pie slices out of the pie case to walk in customers but they mostly ignore you because they are too busy with restaurant customers. It's chaotic and no good processes to make it go easy. I watched with dismay for 10 minutes then gave up.
