We happened on Noujaim's Bistro when looking for a restaurant to meet some visiting family for dinner. Had never been here or even heard about it. Wow, what a wonderful place! The food was so delicious and between the five of us we sampled everything from hummus, tabouleh, and falafel to chicken, lamb, salmon, and more. We topped it all off with baklava and Lebanese coffee. Every item was expertly prepared and so flavorful! And the service could not have been better. Great place!!! read more

Seriously so freaking good. Thank God this place is finally open I am so sick of the ct food..every restaurant is either Italian or diner food in Winsted. Burrville is close enough! Absolutely the best hummus I've ever had (and I've had A LOT of hummus in my lifetime). Incredibly flavorful and fresh cod dish, wonderfully flavorful chicken shawarma, and really lovely mezze plate. Too full for dessert, but very much enjoyed the mediterranean coffee. I should have taken photos, because the food was beautiful, but sadly - I ate it right away! But that's OK - because I'll definitely be back. It's BYOB so don't forget to bring a bottle of wine or beer. George, the owner is a GEM. Super friendly and lovely man. read more

This is nice addition to the Torrington area. The food is middle eastern and excellent. The owner is wonderful and shows pride in his food and service. It is byob so make sure you bring your own wine. Parking may be challenging in the snow. Otherwise, it is convenient. Noujaim's has been an absolute favorite restaurant of ours for years now - George is a phenomenal chef, and he takes great pride in his cuisine, the freshness of his ingredients, and the flavors of The Mediterranean. We had a wonderful experience at Noujaim's. The food was simply outstanding, too much for a crowd to eat, however we did enjoy the many leftovers the next day. I can honestly tell you I felt like we were eating my mom's home cooked specialties! This meal represented the quintissential Lebanese dining experience. It's a nice change to have some Middle Eastern food out here! But, my last visit I think they went from my 5 stars to 3. I hear he opened in another location, and I'm happy for him. BUT, the people he had filling in in Torrington were a bit lax. Nice, but lax. There were limited desserts--none of the delish baklavah, and there was no soap in the bathroom. I was disappointed in that last trip. The owner is extremely nice, and always makes nice suggestions and even alterations to help me with my choices. I hope he comes back to "man the fort" here. Their Pistachio Baklava (when they have it) is crazy good and buttery, and saw other desserts as well, but I'll stick with this one. They also have a great Falafel and vegetarian selection. This place can make just about anyone happy....if they like food. Even my 90 yr old gram loves it. Great choices for light satisfying lunches on hot days. No alcohol, dine in or take out, very casual and pleasant for kids. read more

An amazingly authentic Lebanese restaurant in the culinary desert of Winsted, CT. Family owned and run, and everything is delicious, from hummus to baba ganoush to tabouli. I had recently moved to the area from Danbury, CT and I have to admit, I was a little bummed about the lack of diversity and overall number of eating establishments serving ethnic cuisines. I was presently surprised with this place! This is a gem in the heart of Winsted! Got take out with some coworkers one afternoon after a field trip, and we all loved it. The falafel was delicious, the shawarma was great, and the babaganoush was devoured in seconds. I was really looking forward to trying this place out due to all the rave reviews. The reviews were so raving, that I decided to take my husband here for his birthday. We both love Lebanese food and we're soooooo jazzed to enjoy some great Lebanese food. So we came in at the start of dinner service and no one was there. It felt awkward stepping in because no one on the service staff was terribly welcoming. We were sat and were given water to start and no other beverages were offered. Kind of odd....While we looked over menu we noticed the prices were high and we assumed it was due to the outstanding reviews for the food. In the background the servers were discussing their shifts and when they weren't planning on coming in. Terribly awkward considering we were the only table in the restaurant and haven't ordered entrees yet. George, the owner came out to our table and he was very warm and welcoming. He greeted our table and made us feel welcomed. My husband ordered the lamb and I ordered the falafel. My husbands entree came with basmati rice and it was plain. There was no seasoning or flavor. We noticed that was the theme of our meals. The food wasn't bad, just bland. I expected vibrant flavor with all the hype that I read in the reviews, but it just wasn't there. George was very sweet and warm, but the food wasn't terribly exciting. read more

Great dinner at Noujaims. A generous helping of steamed mussels over perfectly cooked linguini in a cream-based sauced, followed by a flavorful bread pudding with raisins accompanied by rich Lebanese coffee served in a special pot.
