I am pleased by my decision to take my 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid to Novato Auto Service. My car's electric battery needed to be serviced. I read articles online, and most recommended taking the vehicle to a Ford dealership. The dealership I called was taking appointments three weeks out, so I looked into alternative options. I called Novato Auto Service because they were the closest shop to my home. Scott reassured me that his team is trained on hybrid vehicles, and a few hours after leaving the car, I received a digital invoice asking me to approve the work. I was in the loop of all repairs, and when I got my car back after a few days (Scott needed to order a pair of fans that took five days to arrive) and I filled the gas tank, my range had decreased from an average of 450 miles to 350 miles. I was concerned that somebody had forgotten to connect the battery, but Scott told me the car had been sitting for some time and could be low due to the battery's self-discharge. He advised me to drive the car for a few days and see if my mileage increased. To my surprise, I drove the car from San Rafael to Oakland, and I could see my range ticking upwards. I felt truly blessed to have found Novato Auto Service (NAS) when I did. Normally, I would take my car to Firestone Autocare in San Rafael. However, because my husband and I moved to Novato and the crazy labor prices Firestone charges, I wanted to see if there was a mechanic that would do a great job and is not out to gut punch my wallet. After checking some of the reviews, I decided to give NAS a chance. I called around 11:00 AM to see if there were any available times for me to bring my car in for an entire brake job and Scott was able to squeeze me in for 2:00 PM. I considered myself to be extremely lucky. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and professional service. The woman in the office was extremely kind and made me feel welcomed. Upon meeting Scott, his approach of informing me of all the things that needed repair was extremely sincere and honest (because I knew all that was in need of repair). After seeing the quote for brakes, I was pleased to see that I wasn't spending the same amount I would have at Firestone. I will give a follow-up update once I receive my car. Was visiting from out of town and check engine light came on. Called Steve first thing in the morning and he was able to get it on the diagnostic machine by the afternoon. So props for that. Unfortunately that's where things fell apart. After paying for the diagnostic I was told essentially there's something wrong with your transmission and it needs to be replaced. I was not provided a written diagnostic report with the code nor any kind of estimate. And when I called back and asked for an estimate I got a two line email with a price and nothing further. Since all of this was related to a recent no-fault collision the "service" from Novato Auto Service was not helpful. (I took it to a different auto shop when I got it back to my homebase, they provided a written report with codes that I was able to give to the insurance company.) Maybe because they knew I was from out of town Novato Auto Service wasn't particularly motivated to help me. Given my lackluster experience I would not recommend. read more

Both Tanya and Scott were incredibly professional, and I was in and out in less than an hour. Scott was honest and told me that my air filter was in good condition, so only replaced the battery and cabin filter. "Total Scam Artist/ Bamboozler's who purport themselves to be wizzards in troubleshooting Electrical issues"! I have a 1995 For Chinook Concourse RV n bought it to Mr Scott Kaplan for diagnosis of a switch problem of having to hold my finger on the generator start switch to keep it running n no output of converting 12 volts to 110 Ac for internal power using the secondary system of electrical power. I got a call from Scott 8 days after leaving the RV with him n was surprised when he asked what type of generator it was n why the external power cord did not connect into a box. He sounded like he was drinking because the conversation was so off based and dis related to the problem at hand I couldn't help but wonder in apprehension if I made a mistake in hiring them. He told me he would get back to me n called me in 5 days thereafter to ask me when I was going to pick up the RX n stated my brushes on the generator had gone out n he couldn't pull the generator out to overhaul it. I came to pick up the RV on Thurs June 24 th n the only thing I could see that he did was check my tire pressure and connect the external pwr supply plug to see if I was getting 110 volts . BTW the owners operating manual was in the same location as when I dropped it off on the passenger seat and had never been read. They charged me $ 150.00 basically for nothing and my wife n I had to pass up a 3 day fathers day vacation. I located another RV electrical expert n Vacaville n he told me to open the generator door and check the generator breaker switch was (in the off position). I found the side generator door unlocked, opened it n turned the 30 amp breaker to the on position n pushed the gen start button and voila the generator came to life and I could hear the relays click on n the 110 volt was indicated in the cabin once more. These guys are either in an altered state or totally incompetent! My advice to you is to watch ur step with these guys ( particularly ur pocket book) . In my opinion it is unethical to charge a client for a diagnosis n repair if none are performed. read more
