First of all I refuse to give a 5 to anyone- any restaurant - that doesn't deserve it. Novecento on the island of key Biscayne, Florida deserves it hands down. We are passionate about following expert award winning chefs so are critical of service, presentation and quality of food. And we travel around the world experiencing flavors of the world. Our recent experience at Novecento was spot on! Checking off all the boxes (as Paul Hollywood would say on the British Bake off ). We took advantage of the '34th anniversary lunch / dinner menu". A great 3 course meal at almost half the price and to top it off the '50% off Tuesday' special on the fabulous wine selections. My burrata and my husband's Ceviche = fabulous and generous. All 3 of us ordered NY Steak, again spot on - cooked as ordered, and a generous portion, and flavorful. I rarely order mashed potatoes and not only did I eat mine I had to help my aunt with hers too! The deserts- also something I generally skip - I couldn't resist; excellent Flan, outstanding Crepes with Dulce de Leche with spectacular vanilla ice cream. And the Wine!!! Absolutely amazing. Thank God my husband is quite a connoisseur of wines. It was fabulous to the last drop. Luis Perez was our waiter and he was truly focused on our any everyone's needs. Not missing a beat to make sure orders were paced nicely, not crowding you or rushing you - so your intimate moment was unforgettable ! Congratulations for the service and food BRAVO . YA GOTTA GO! This is my second time going to this location and I will continue going. The gnocchi is one of the best I've had and it keeps me going back for more. This time, I did take out but the food was equally as delish. GNOCCHI GRATINADO 11/10 bursting with flavor, soft, and melts right in your mouth! This 4 cheese gnocchi is gooey, sharp, and buttery. I tend to struggle with 4 cheese gnocchi's because I don't like Gorgonzola cheese very much as it overpowers dishes, and thankfully this dish did NOT taste like Gorgonzola:) COSTILLAS DE CORDERO 7/10 Nothing special, they taste how they're supposed to taste. Don't get me wrong they were very tasty but after the bomb gnocchi, I guess I just expected more. However, keep in mind that I did take out so the dish could very well be different at the restaurant. Absolutely awful experience. Ended up with food poisoning after eating the ice berg wedge salad, and NY strip steak. We're from out of town, so spent the next 24 hours in the hotel room recovering from extreme diarrhea, fever, chills, etc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This was after we changed tables 3 times because the tables were so filthy we didn't feel comfortable having our son eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Shame on us for not leaving. read more

We came here on a Tuesday night as they offer 1/2 price wine on that day. We were offered a table inside or out and we chose inside due to the heat and humidity. We were offered the Miami Spice menu but it was somewhat limited so we ordered a steak and a preferred pasta dish from the regular menu to share instead. The food was good and service was fast, friendly and attentive througout the meal, but both of us experienced gastric upset later that night from something we'd eaten here. It should also be noted that Novecento has a fairly high markup on at least some wines - to the point where we came here on 1/2 price wine night, and purchased a bottle for about the same price we could get it at other restaurants in Miami at regular price any day of the week. I personally found the menu just a bit limited in selection. A side note: WOW this place gets loud inside and could definitely do with some sound absorbency on the ceilings! There were 2 parties of 4 seated in the middle of the place, and they were talking so loudly that it was deafening The front of this restaurant has floor to ceiling glass windows and the ceiling above the bar and dining area is flat, painted and also reflects noise, causing it to become really loud inside when it's busy. I went here with a big group during a World Cup game and the ambiance was delightful. They had music and a carnival style dressed woman danced at tables during halftime. Everything that we ordered was delicious, for starters I'd recommend the steak empanadas and the ham and cheese empanadas. They are filled to the brim. I'd also recommend the choripán, the blue cheese French fries and the the gnocchi. Others othered Bloody Marys and they were a hit. Met a friend for a very late brunch here. We thought they had a lunch menu for miami spice month but it was only dinner. The place was not packed at 2:30pm on a Saturday, people were coming in but mostly empty. I ordered the Salmon Benedict and she had the steak and eggs as well as an empanada. The service was good, the waitress kept our waters filled. There are a lot of others restaurants close by as well as the Aventura mall so it's s pretty busy area. read more

I find sitting inside is usually SLIGHTLY better than sitting outside. Their burger is a hit or miss.
