Even after moving to the PNW, Novi will forever be my favorite place to come dance! The drinks are a bit pricey, but not horrible compared to most places. The atmosphere is always so fun, and they always have events going on such as line dancing on Friday Nights. Unfortunately, like I've stated previously, the bouncers are not always the nicest, and neither are the bartenders, but they do their job and I suppose that's what matters. Novi is definitely open!! Novi has always been a favorite of my friend group. 9/10 we have a good time here. If the music is lacking it can be not as fun but that's not usually the case. It's always super busy and the line can be pretty long to get in. I like that there are two separate bars so that the lines aren't super long to get a drink. There's also a bathroom in the club so you don't have to leave and come back. read more

Great Music, but Bad Bouncers & Dance Floor. I go to NoVi almost every Friday. Why do I go? Well; the main DJ is amazing and plays all the good music. And if you get there early (between 9pm and 10pm) it's pretty nice. But NoVi (at the Eldorado) leaves a lot to be desired, and fixed. The dance floor isn't polished (not easy to spin on, which can easily injure your knees) and it's often covered in spilled alcohol which causes it to be sticky. Then there's the combination of the Main vs. 2nd Bar, and the bouncers. They focus everyone to buy from the "Main Bar" which sits at that dance floor instead of ushering the patrons to the Second Bar which sits to the left. This means as everyone converges on the Main Bar the group gets bigger and bigger, meaning they encroach on the dance floor until it completely disappears, and those who have bought alcohol spill it everywhere. Additionally; the non-existent bouncer (or inexperienced bouncers) are sitting in the corners instead of keeping the stand-arounds and looky-lou's off the dance floor. Ultimately; If they were to make the bar on the left side the "Main Bar," get the bouncers to keep the Stand-Arounds at the edge of the dancing area, and polish the dance floor, it would be a 5 Star, Perfect place to make your second dance home. read more

We came here with a group of friends and let me tell you this place is a blast! If you love line dancing, country music, and decent priced drinks then this is your place! There is an instructor that shows you how to do the line dances and stays up there most of the evening for you to watch and learn. I don't usually leave reviews but Luis was extremely rude to me so I felt this was necessary. Tonight is the Santa crawl and also happens to be my birthday. When we came to Novi at 9:30 pm the bouncer told me as long as I have a stamp, I can re-enter at anytime. When we came back, Luis was extremely rude to me and told me no re-entry past midnight for anyone. I went to talk to the bouncer who had told me to come back later in the night, Luis then went out of his way to come over and proceed to be extremely rude to me yet again. I am not upset about having to wait in line again, but to be treated that poorly and negatively by Luis made me never want to come to Novi again. A few members of our group had to go to the bathroom and when coming back to the line a security guard had told them can't cut everyone in the line because they've been waiting for over an hour when that's exactly what we had been doing!We told him that we all had been there and even tried to show him the pictures we took while waiting in the line At different points yet he said " he was watching the line the whole time and didn't see us at all". If he was watching he would have seen us standing there for over an hour. He kicked our whole group out of line insisting we had all just cut. He was also super rude about it. THE SETUP Right inside the El Dorado, Novi's decor is admittedly a notch or two ABOVE what you would expect from a place that is trying to put of the vibe of a "dive bar", but most certainly is NOT. * The furnishings are exquisite, with wood, granite and lighting giving off more of a club-vibe than anything. But that's okay! I know it's not quite "Whiskey Dicks" - and Novi is a bit pricier - but WTH, we're in Reno - not Lake Tahoe - so I enjoy what Novi brings here in "The Biggest Little City"! * Two bars grace this room with gold & red back-lighting and a mood vibe equal to many a speakeasy lounge. We went in and the music was to loud for then10 people that were there. The poor dance instructor had to yell at everyone so she could be heard. 2 beers were $36.00 !!!!!!! That is crazy!!!! I was in Reno visiting my bf who had accompanied me to Novi once before, and this time the bald jerk working the front security told me my Utah Drivers license was fake and wouldn't let me in. tried to make himself seem all high and mighty and said "I've seen a million of these fakes" and jokes on him bc it was my valid drivers license. don't recommend going here due to some of the workers. A mix of country music and hip hop - that's what Novi is. The old ghosts of Bubinga Nightclub still haunt this place. The bar in the VIP section and the bass-pounding speakers bring Reno natives back to an earlier time. Novi does a pretty good job bring two vastly different worlds together. I was a little thrown off when I sat down and started hearing modern hip hop and r and b music playing, as my friend had told me this club is a Country Western club. I had also been against going here up until now because Country Western music, complete with square dancing and the rest, isn't my thing. Novi takes that and meshes it together nicely with a great DJ, exquisite ambiance, and friendly bartenders making delicious drinks, to create a good time for anyone. Even if you don't know Country Western dance (Western Swing is big here), people watching in this club is very fun. And there's no cover! Any kind of casual dress is acceptable, but dress like a cowboy or cowgirl, if you have the boots, because you won't be out of place here in that attire. Friday is red cup night - you buy your red cup and first drink for $5, and all drinks through out the rest of the night are only $3. Nice way to get otherwise expensive drinks, like a Jack and coke, for cheap all night long. Overall, it's a great club, and one that I'll be visiting again. read more

We had the pleasure of attending 2 private events at NoVi, a themed 40th BDay party last year and just recently, my husband's company holiday event. While the interior still echoes of nightclubs past, the class and elegant design remain. Because we weren't there for it's main nightclub function, we were able to enjoy the ambiance and holiday decor without the normal weekend party-goer crowds. The service staff was friendly and on-point, the catering was delectable, and the bar crew was charming, festive and was absolutely taking care of business! To be 100% honest, Novi was a place I visited once and then avoided as much as possible. 2 years ago it was cliquey and boring. It took a lot for my friends to convince me to go back. The selling point was that there was a new DJ on Saturdays. Now Dustin is there on fridays and Saturdays and the nights are more lively!! He plays a great mix of music and it's never boring! Definitely a little something for everyone to dance to. Red Cup Friday's is a great deal and makes for great nights out without spending an insane amount. I haven't done the dance lessons, but it seems to help get newer people out on the floor, which is always fun! I mean, who wants to dance alone?! I took one star off because the dance floor is kinda small and can get a little congested when the people who aren't dancing crowd around the floor. It usually doesn't get too crowded till about 11 or 12 though. All-in-all, Novi is a fun place to go, whether you're a dancer or not. read more

Place is a blast after they stop playing country music! Only reason this is being given 4 stars, is due to the slippery floors. Which I think is fair to complain about. Its normal for drinks to spill here and there, but I wish people were a little more considerate. Perhaps invest in smarter floor plans, or limit the alcohol on the dance floor. Eldorado. Not impressed. Went here last night with my fiancé and a few friends. I went in with a friend first, the place was dead, maybe two dozen people, which is not a lot for how big it was. My fiancé and his buddy were to come in after because they were smoking, and had to do it downstairs. After a few minutes, his buddy came in and said they wouldn't let my fiancé in because he was wearing flip flops. I didn't believe him, because I was also wearing flip flops. But sure enough, I walked out with our friends to see him sitting there waiting. I didn't order any drinks or any food, & they definitely won't be getting my business EVER. Located in the Eldorado Casino across from CinCin. The old timers might remember the space as the old Bingo hall. I've attended private events in this space. It has a stage, dance floor, bar and lounge seating. At both the events I attended the food stations where set up on the dance floor. It had a great flow. The food was very good - yellow tail crudo was fresh fish (raw) served with a spicy slaw, shrimp cocktail shot - nice size shrimp draped over a shot glass filled with cocktail sauce and a creamy shrimp salad and the lamb was cooked to a perfect medium rare served with fingerling potatoes and grill veg - excellent job the veg was not the usual mush served from chafing dishes. The other stations I did not try were: dessert, raw oyster, fruit, cheese. All looked fresh and enjoyed by the other guests. There's a new chef but I didn't catch his name. On weekend nights, Novi I believe does red solo cup drink specials and country western line dancing. The solo cup is not my thing but the line dancing is on my to do list. read more

This place is trash, apparently they have a no skull cap dress code. I didn't know this standing in line because everyone in front of me had on either Santa hats or a baseball cap. I get to the front and the guy, who's wearing a baseball cap, says to remove my beanie. I'm thinking it's just to check my ID because they use facial recognition cameras. Then he says as he hands me back my ID "yeah no gangster wear" WTF!! So I placed the beanie back on my head because I'm not a gangster, my pants were not sagging, and I'm the one black person with a group of 20 people. Then a security guard comes to me inside the club and says "you have to take that hat off" and I asked what's the difference between a baseball hat and a beanie? He had no clear answer and walked away to get another security guard who proceeded to tell me, I have to remove my beanie or leave. So I kindly left, me and all my 20 friends who some had purchased all you can drink already. Someone did approach me while I was standing in front of the club waiting for my friends to come out apologizing for the phrasing that was used and offering a free drink if I came back inside. No, that's ok It's the principal, I feel as though the no skull cap rule targets black people or "gangsters" as the bouncer said. TRASH! Don't come to this place, we went right over to Brew Brothers which had no problem with my beanie. read more

Clean, fun, and a great crowd. I love the atmosphere this place provides on top of the great music. It's a country bar with a modern twist. Bartenders are friendly, bathrooms are tidy, and the manager working is on top of things. Security is nice at the entrance, but they can definitely be rude when needed. We usually end our nights out here, because we don't want to leave. Drinks are consistent and the clientele they attract are easygoing. I also appreciate the clean up team they have on hand for spills and any messes. They are also quick to clear fights before anyone realizes it's happening; they don't joke around when it comes to kicking out the problem starters. Cheers to future weekends at Novi! read more

Several weeks ago I wrote a fantastic review of this place on google. Unfortunately, google won't let me post a second review to follow up on how this place has drastically changed since writing that review, so I'll write it here. I used to go to novi every Friday night. The dancing was awesome, the crowd was lively, the music was superb, the drinks were more than affordable. It was a fantastic place to hang out. During the month of April I was out of town every weekend so I wasn't able to show up for about a month. With my traveling finally in the past and a more relaxed schedule, I was able to head to Novi last night, May 17th. In one word? Wow. I was informed that the DJ that was working is now the new starting DJ on Friday nights and this place just isn't the same. At 9:45pm when the place is always packed, it was dead. The music? Not the best at all. Dancing? Almost non-existent. With the little bit of line dance songs the DJ plays, he blends the songs together so you have no idea if one song is ending or another is starting. Absolutely terrible for line dancing. If you're just looking for drinks, those are still affordable with the red cup special so they still have that going for them. As I left at 10pm due to the less than stellar music and lack of dancing, there was a tad bit of a line outside with mostly people probably waiting for the next DJ to start and turn it into a nightclub atmosphere rather than a country bar. This used to be a place where you could line dance, couples dance, enjoy cheap drinks, and enjoy a lively country atmosphere before it turns into a nightclub later in the evening. Not sure what sparked the change for the start of the evening but it definitely has a noticeable effect with the drop in turnout. Won't be back. read more

Not a country bar. This is very much a bottle-service, heavy bass, all-the-music-sounds-the-same nightclub. They take country music and completely wreck it to make it fit the nightclub beat. The DJ does not know or understand county music at all, and didn't play a single song that was more than 3 years old (all newer "bro country"). They do, however, have a dance floor that Gilley's should be jealous of. Unfortunately, they do not take care of it. The floor is sticky, which is difficult to dance on (especially any type of swing) and they let people take their drinks out on the dance floor, which is a huge no-no. So, if you like the club scene and either don't care for country music or only started listening to it recently, you'll probably love it. If you're looking for actual swing/line dancing, or actually appreciate country music, you will probably hate this place. Stick with CBQ, GSR, or *shudder* even Gilley's. read more

The line dance instructor is very rude and stuck up ..drinks are always on the floor ( very big no no as far as dancing goes ) the dj thinks he is above all reproach and won't play requested songs or dances ,,I dance at a lot of places in town and have been for along time now and it is not hing but a kiddy place to raise hell and that's not a country bar ,,Gilles is the same way and most of them he real dancers that have been pushed out of the dancing venues are really looking for a place to dance so looks like I will be advising people to go to Cbq where the dance etiquette is always enforced and country dancing is real ,,,my advise to no I is get rid of the instructor and get a real dj in there to play some real country I can suggest a real dj and dance instructor if needed read more

It's supposed to be the newest country bar but they play 1:10 country songs. I'll be first to admit. Country isn't my type of genre, especially when it comes to dancing. Our group ended up here because of the long lines everywhere else. That said, I think that lead to misidentification for this place. While billed as a Country Dance Hall, this particular night was filled with everyone but Country. You had hippity hop, ballroom business man, regular joe, miss beauty pageant, miss Club Hopper and her bandits, etc. Hardly any Country dancing, more like I'm drunk and bumping into everyone stepping. I think if you're looking for serious Country, you should keep looking. Not your typical country bar. They really haven't changed much from when it was Bubinga except for adding a live band stage. Drinks are allowed on the dance floor unlike a lot of other country bars. They have awesome drink specials! We went on a Saturday night and they had ladies first drink free, $3 jack, and also $12 all you can drink jack! I think they should change the inside a little more to make it more "country," maybe some wood pallets on the walls or hanging barn lights over the bar. There are bathrooms inside which is really nice! And also no cover charge. Overall we had a great time and stayed there all night! read more

Let me start off by saying I'm not from Nevada, and have lived in Arizona my whole life. I came to Carson city to visit my boyfriends family, and we were told that Novi is the best spot for country dancing in the nearby area. We decided to check it out last Friday night, and we had a blast. I only know certain line dances based on what we do back home in Phoenix, so getting to watch the many more line dances that they do here was very fun and entertaining. I would say that they could space out the line dances and actual two step dance songs more, instead of about 10 line dance songs in a row to every country two step song. Just would give more time for those who came out to two step to get more dances in. Also, for those looking for an all country spot, this place is most definitely a night club atmosphere as well. At the end of the night it's all hip hop and top hits ( which I honestly loved and had a blast with). Just wanted to put that part out there for those who might not expect that to be a thing. Drink specials were great, one of the best I've seen, and our tab even without the specials wasn't bad at all.
