I used to come here on Thursdays for karaoke but after tonight I am not sure I'll be back because they limited karaoke to 8-10 pm but generally people will sing until until 1am and to be limited to two hours didn't seem very reasonable so I guess Abby's Highway it is for Thursday nights. What a vibe! Apparently I have been to Rum Bullions with my cousin years ago, but can't recall so this is my first time... again! Came in to support my homie DJ Ryon during a Reggae karaoke event and I had a blast. I love the ambiance of the bar because although it's in the row it gives tiki bar vibes. All it needs is water and sand and boom we are on the beach. I love that there is indoor and a semi patio seating to allow space for all to be comfortable. The bar area was pretty spacious as well. I didn't drink as much that night but my boy Brian kept the water cup on full! Thank you Brian! No lie this spot has potential to be a regular event space, dance bar, or somewhere to just come to hang out with friends during happy hour and let loose. Only issue is there is no food. Anywho.. Captain Morgan watches guard at the front door... I keep a close eye on the mining machine that towers above. Great fun here and without a doubt the place to drink while at Silver. Was in town for the last of the Reno air races. After countless years this will be the final year it is held in reno and so we had to visit. Seems like everybody had the same idea. I've never seen so many people here since maybe 20 years ago. Hotel full, casino full and this bar of course packed. A lively crowd of young people on the weekend. Music is a highlight and although your steps away from the casino the bar takes you into another space and dimension - or is that all the alcohol? Some seating inside and then some 'patio' seating outside. Got some outdoor vibes inside - the massive dome creates a lot of air space and good vibes. Many pilots and military made this their home for the weekend too - I think its an obvious choice - easily the best overall hotel in Reno... Downtown or not. read more

We walked down and went to rum bullion's Island bar. We were pleasantly surprised that it was happy hour until 8:00. our first three drinks were only $13, well drinks. One of our party came in later and ordered a drink which was not a well drink unfortunately and she was not informed by the bartender and her drink was $13 lol. We wondered why she got it in a glass instead of a plastic cup. in any event we all enjoyed well drinks for the rest of the evening. they were strong and good. The bartenders were busy in the place was about 30% full. We also got some jello shots. We enjoyed our evening and will definitely return. We came in about 6:00 and happy hour was until 8:00 but I'm not sure what time it starts. We did not check out any food menu so I can't advise on that. read more

Staff is fantastic!!! They deserve 5 stars across the board!! Super friendly and customer service oriented! Why did I give them 3 stars you may ask? I am in their sitting area with my family of 7, 5 adults and 2 kids. An El Dorado security guard, a filipino woman, was rude asf! She came over and harassed us after an hour of sitting here. This sour face decided to say no kids. The bar sign says no one under 21 inside the bar. We were outside sitting with our kids. Got 4 rounds and was enjoying our time. This sour puss face woman came over and demanded we needed to move. We argued back and she quickly went to the walky talky bc we weren't listening. Explained that the sign says only in the bar. She argued with us and wouldnt budge. She took off about 40 feet and doubled back. "Observe and report" right?? No this puss face woman was on a mission to make sure we left. We stopped our open tab at the bar and it was a loss to the bar. They need to come out here and protect us as paying customers. Kids are not in the bar=no crime. Some people take their security job wayyyyy to seriously!! Whatever your name is, this bar should ban you from walking over here. Definitely missed customers who would have bought 15-20 rounds. I'm banned from Rum Bullions. Why? I don't know. It just doesn't make any sense. Just last week, I was trying some drinks at Rum Bullions, I went downstairs and gambled, came back upstairs having won some money! At the door, the host/guard said: "No, you have been kicked out, you're not supposed to be here." It gets better. This isn't even the second time. This is the third time. I can't understand it. No one will explain it. Mysteriously, I've never had any kind of altercation or negative experience at Rum Bullions. Is this a case of mistaken identity? I don't look nefarious or intimidating. I'm just some guy. We will never discover the real answer, because everyone just says they don't know why I'm banned. read more

During this pandemic, most places temporarily closed, shortened their hours, stopped indoor anything, decreased their staff and productivity and efficiency, decreased their customer service and/or closed permanently. This was one of the few bars that was still open and were we ever so thankful. There weren't that many people in this little bar but that was fine with us since that meant we would have a place to sit. Normally this place is popping with loud music, a line out front and people having a great time. Not this time. There were a few party people in there but only because one lady was celebrating her birthday and had to be the life of the party. There were only there for about an hour or so. We were a party of four ladies so it wasn't hard to find a spot to park. Once we sat down (by the way, the tables are clearly marked which ones were dirty and which ones were sanitized), we were greeted almost instantly. I can't remember our hostess' name but she was pretty and she happened to be the bartender as well...double duty. There were only 3 workers working at the time so you can imagine that things weren't as fast as they are normally are during their busy times. It was fine with us. We weren't in a hurry. There were two lady bartenders and one bar back. All three worked together well to greet their customers, grab orders, clean tables, clean dishes, make orders and still have smiles on their faces like they enjoyed their job. Our hostess even chatted with us a bit. We all order margaritas on the rocks which were delicious. They were different than the normal watered down or heavily poured alcohol flooded margaritas I've normally had. This one tasted amazing. We tried to figure our her "secret" and we were on the money after a couple of guesses. We found out it was her signature drink so she always made it special. She said she practiced it and practiced it to make it perfect. I think she did an amazing job. We loved our drinks so much we ordered four more rounds. Near closing time you can imagine how things were looking on our end...a little on the tipsy side. Those drinks are sneakers...delicious, refreshing but little creapers. We talked amongst ourselves and people watched the rest of the night. We noticed they normally have a live band and maybe some karaoke. Would love to experience that when things go back to what may or may not be "normal." Until then, we had a great time! read more

This is a fun bar that you must go to if you are casino hopping in Reno. Located inside of the silver legacy, you can't miss the line outside of this place on the weekends. There is always a live cover band on busy nights and drunk people dancing the night away. The drinks are lavish, overpriced and fun...but what do you expect at a Rum bar? SO MUCH FUN!!! My friend and I came here after going to the Laugh Factory for some good music and some good rum (for me). We found some seats on the outside patio, near the band. It was pretty crowded and the dance floor was packed. The band was so good. They were playing cover music from the 80's, 90's and some current stuff too. I enjoyed listening to them play and watching the people dance. Unfortunately, my friend is a terrible dancer so we didn't dance, but that's OK...I had a great time anyways. To drink I got a Rum Bullion Famous Flaming Kava Kava. It's supposed to be for two people but I drank it myself and it was so good. I would highly recommend coming here for good drinks and good music. read more

After 3 mins of doing nothing and just talking with customers in Spanish he told us he would be right with us. We always visit Rum Bullions every time we visit the Reno area. The live music is the best and we have enjoyed seeing alot of the bands that actually are from the Sacramento area. One of our favorite bands are Apple Z. However the last time we visited we saw a new band from the Sacramento area. The place is kind of small, but it usually fills up with a lot of locals as we always see the same two guys there when we visit. There is this one local guy that gets up to the stage and dances all crazy. Everybody laughs and sometimes videos him, but he doesn't seem to care. He cracks me up. The door men check everyone's ids and they have a pretty good sense of humor. I always kid them when they ask for my ID, since I am over 50. They also ensure that everyone is behaving and making sure that everyone is of legal age before entering. The waitresses can be quite busy on the weekend nights and it can take a while to get a drink. They have this one drink where it has a flame and it looks awesome. Overall we have a good time whenever we go, but the next day when we see how much we spent it can be a little overwhelming. I guess all that counts is that we had a good time. read more

I feel remiss in not having written my review of this place. We come here often for two very good reasons, one is because we have a friend that stays at the Legacy once a month and this place is a nice location to chat, drink, and catch up midweek. The midweek bartender remembers us and our drinks and is very attentive! The second reason is Superbad. This band plays here about once every 6 weeks and we make an effort to try to make at least one of the weekend's shows. The band is great, playing music from every era and genre that everybody loves! The lead singer is super personable and engaging with the audience. He's a true showman so be prepared for some raunchy humor and a lot of bare chest! Last I checked we're all adults, in a bar, so none of this should offend or surprise you, it's actually hilarious and packs this bar to the gills! Wether you want to dance or sit and watch, this place is a great experience. Unfortunately, these nights are usually super busy and service slips (the reason for the 4 instead of 5 rating). Drinks are difficult to come by and seating is at a premium so get here early! read more

I probably would have rated this place higher if 1) I drank, 2) was 20 years younger, 3) knew the lyrics to Bon Jovi songs. So if I did 1) drink, 2) were 20 years younger and 3), knew the lyrics to Bon Jovi songs, I'd have given this four stars and done a fist pump too. I had heard SO much about this place that I felt compelled to drag my friend here on a Saturday night around 11:30 pm. The place was full, but not packed. Lots of happy drunk people: men wearing cowboy hats and trying to look very serious leaning against the bar; girls grouped in inpenetrable tight little circles trying not to look too desperate; the requisite 60-year-old drunk gambler who wandered in by mistake and is trying to dance like a hippie to a Steppenwolf classic being bellowed out by the dueling piano players. Tacky, touristy - and tasty! An island paradise in the middle of classy classy Reno. Located on the walkway attaching Circus Circus and El Dorado to Silver Legacy, Rum Bullions is dead center near Silver's insane center spectacle. We hit the bar around 4:30 on a Friday afternoon, and were treated to friendly and quick cocktails by supercute bartender Cody, and great tunes playing overhead. My mai tai was YUMMY and went down quick, no thanks to TWO rum-soaked cherries on top - yowza. Drinks were delicious, a rum soaked good time was had by all. We also just had to sample their jell-o shots, served up cleverly in large plastic hypodermic needles. Photo op! Watermelony (I think - does it really matter?), and yummy fun! A very fun escape from the casino chaos, and zero complaints about the cocktails. Stop in for a drink or 5, and continue to buzz your way through your day - I look forward to returning for the flaming kava kava, and some live music! read more

We had a bad experience ordering drinks. We asked for a Black Russian but the bartender did not know how to make it. My bf told him what was in it and he then proceeded to add milk. After telling him that we wanted a Black Russian (no milk), he then proceeded to make it again in a shot glass. We ordered a whiskey sour and it tasted like whiskey and water instead. Instead of being an adult, and telling me that I hit her in the face, my friends told me that's what happened, she decided to sick security on me as aggressive. As a black woman, I am already discriminated against in this country. I literally had a panic attack, I had to call off of work, I hope that woman feels satisfied with causing me so much grief, so much pain, so much terror that I was unable to go to work, I am traumatized by your actions while I sat silent, waiting for my friends to come out of the bar. The mixed woman who worked at Rum Bullions on October 29th, I hope you are punished for the disgusting way you treated another woman of color with whatever way you think was fine. I apologized, I sat quietly, I did not antagonize you. I got out of line, I did not bother anyone in line. Rum Bullions should be ashamed for perpetuation racism in their establishment. On Halloween, Mike and I decided to go out on the town seeing as how Taven, our son was in Disneyland with his Great Grandma! "Let's go out babe! I wanna dance!" Among seeing the ghouls and ghosts that line the streets of Reno, that particular night is the best night to hit the night clubs downtown! Dressed up like a pink fairy, and Mike a fireman, we hit the casinos. Our first stop was Rum Bullions where a live band was playing classic oldies songs and and the whole place was alive and crawling with characters from every bazar-o movie you could think of. Big Hero Six was there, neatest outfit ever, and of course flash was there dancing the night away like no one was watching...I like that this place wasn't overwhelming. It was packed but we were still able to walk through to the back and find a seat...the seating is surprising in the back! Look up to see the neatest scene around! A huge dome with projections lighting it up and a huge structure covered in cog wheels was really cool! A waitress came by as soon as we sat down although we had already waited at the bar for our drinks. A banana, coconut cocktail called Bahama Mama was perfectly made and tasted great! If there are any critiques it would be that when I checked in on Yelp, it offered me an expired Fireball offer...would be nice to see a new offer on the page! read more

I had such high hopes for you Rum Bullions. I love rum. Any which way but spilled, perhaps. Being greeted by two huge statues of Captain Morgan was a highlight. I'm finding it tough to put my disappointment into words. Was it the bartender's "you are a pain in my ass" comment? The lack of jello shots? The daggers from the waitress? No music, nor piano playing of any kind? I'm just not sure. Maybe our large group of very friendly women was just too much for Bullions? It might have been because I enjoyed it much more when a friend and I went back at 1:00 a.m. I kicked my heels up on one of the tables out front and had a couple of great conversations with passer bys. Rum Bullions used to be one of my favorite watering holes in Reno. This past weekend we celebrated my husband's 40th birthday in Reno. As Jimmy Buffett fans the theme was "A pirate looks at 40" and we thought Rum Bullions would be on point with that theme. It was around 7:30 on a Thursday night and we were the only two people in the place. We ordered Mai Tai's which were sickly sweat. Not only were there no patrons, they no longer had cocktail lists or menus. We were very dad this is no longer a fun place to go. Luckily Reno does has other bars which are great. read more

Great service from the bartenders, dueling pianos were on their game, and did the best with a less than active string of shy audience participants. Solid crowd on a Friday night. This is a cute bar. A little over-the-top with the whole rum-beach-bum theme, but then again, it's in RENO and not only that, in the middle of a CASINO. So in this case, bland just isn't the name of the game. It's in the middle of the Silver Legacy complex at the edge of the atrium where you can peer down at the gamblers below (and contemplate spitting one them....okay I would never do that, but the thought of it did make my inner kindergartener giggle). The bar gets packed on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's worth a visit at least for the dueling pianos. Not that they really "duel" so much as collaborate....but they can be pretty entertaining regardless. For the price of a small donation, the pianists will take requests from the audience too. During the day, it's a pretty chill spot to just sit and sip on a cocktail. Good people-watching, especially if you're sitting in the little "yard" area. Drinks are reasonably priced too. read more

Amanda is so sweet. I had been wanting to come here since we got to Reno and we happened to go in around closing. I didn't know they closed at 10 and Amanda still let us in and made us a drink. She was beyond sweet and so personable and absolutely the nicest worker I've come across. She didn't have to let us come in so last minute and I totally get it, I'm a server too. I have to start off by saying that we didn't even make it inside the restaurant. A group of friends and I (ages 24-30) are travel nurses and came to Silver Legacy and wanted to try Rum Bullions. We had already been to the blackjack table and another bar to get a drink inside the casino. No issues. The host checks my ID and I walk passed him and then he checks my friend's ID and immediately says it's fake. It caught me off guard and I laughed because we all thought he was joking. The host, Angel, was extremely rude and was bending her ID saying "it's fake. ID's don't bend like this." We were all so flabbergasted because we're all well over the age of 21 and never experienced anything like this before. He didn't ask her for a second form of identification or even scan the ID, he just went based off of his "feeling" because of the way it bent. She's from the east coast so I can see the confusion with the unfamiliarity but the way he handled the situation was extremely disrespectful and uncalled for. He told us he was not going to give the ID back and we needed to call the cops. I've been in a few situations before where the place has just called and read the card number to verify and that was all. The way that the restaurant handled the situation was piss poor. The manager came out, said the same garbage that the host did. Gave us a whole speech on how many fake ID's they get a weekend (we don't care. We're almost 30) and offered no solution. They repeated to us that we needed to call the police to verify. Again, we are travel nurses in the EMERGENCY ROOM. We are well aware that the police have way more important things to worry about than verifying that these people are incompetent. My friend ended up running downstairs and tracking down security herself. Some guy in a suit came up, looked at the ID and said he didn't know either and just gave it back to her. They proceeded to tell us it wasn't going to be accepted in any Silver legacy, El Dorado, or Circus Circus affiliate again. Thank god we have no desire to return. read more
