January 2025 (happy new year!), this so-called "professional" hair establishment decided to transform a routine children's haircut into a dramatic medical investigation worthy of a WebMD fever dream. --The Misdiagnosis Heard 'Round the Playground-- Picture an innocent 6 year-old, sitting peacefully in the salon chair, when suddenly - PLOT TWIST - the stylist transforms into an amateur epidemiologist. With the dramatic flair of a daytime soap opera doctor, she declares: "OH MY GOODNESS, YOUR CHILD HAS LICE!" Spoiler alert: No. They. Did. Not. The Forensic Evidence (aka Total Nonsense): dried white hair gel (come to find out louse eggs are brown not white) so way off... What followed was a masterclass in medical hysteria: * Dramatic gasping * Frantic scalp examination * Completely incorrect diagnosis The "evidence" for this lice declaration? A few small specks of dried hair product and some remnant my little pony glitter residue. what was CLEARLY (even to me who had not yet completed my masterclass in parasitology) NOT LICE, now had the psycho salon in hysteria. Congratulations, Lice Buster- you've successfully turned a haircut into a horror movie. The Aftermath: Parental Panic and Professional Embarrassment (for them) The parents were sent home with: * Unnecessary panic * a delousing mission * A traumatized 6year old with a false positive Coody diagnosis The Kicker When a REAL medical professional later confirmed ZERO evidence of lice, the salon's response was basically a masterclass in "whoopsie-daisy" shoulder shrugging and how NOT to handle a client concern. The chief medical resident/mANaGeR (let's call it "the Dana") took on the bedside manner of a crocodile and an "I don't give $hit" attitude I haven't seen since my time in NYC. When I noted that was dissatisfied with her response I was basically told to pound sand and keep me and my lousy parasitic passengers away from their shop.... After 4 hours and two different toners, I ended up precisely with red/brown highlights on the top, no visible highlights on the bottom...this was highly disappointing as I specifically booked at this salon, marketed as a color bar and expertise in coloring. It was also not highlighted and was in very large yellow chunks. I felt like Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmatians. I called back and they told me I could "come back in a few days" to get "an extra foil" to even it out and that I should "part my hair another way" to fix it. I went to another salon the next day and they were in disbelief that this was the result of an appointment at Allure 24 hours prior. In order to fix this job, I paid another $200 at another salon and have to go back again in 4 weeks for another touchup. I was not offered any apology, my emails to Allure have been ignored and no refund was offered. No one has called me to apologize or fix this either. The first photo was taken at home within 2 hours of my appointment and the next were taken by another hair stylist at another business.
