OK, I had the cheese/slaw/chili dog "all the way" and it was good. Yet, I had the regular cheese dog and it was mid. The fries that came with my meal were undercooked. I ordered onion rings and they were good, although the portion was skimpy. The fried apple pie was OK. I could go for 3 stars but they gave a refill on my soda and the cashier was nice. read more

Perfect quick lunch spot! I grabbed a Combo 2 which comes with two hot dogs, small fry, and a medium drink. When asked if I'd like anything else, you know I had to add on an apple turnover! We had a slight wait, but everything came out hot, fresh, and just plain delicious. Loving the new location too; a little further down from their original location. Feels bright and welcoming. It's not fancy but when you want delish comfort food, Nu-Way is a good option. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect for a local institution famous for their hot dogs. Service wasn't fancy either but everyone was friendly. Food was made to order so my fries & hot dog was piping hot. The hot dog was delicious with mustard, chopped onions & their special chili. After many years of being told I needed to try the famous "pink weiners" I finally did it. I got the Combo #2 with chili cheese dog and a chili cheese slaw dog both all the way, side of onion rings. The chili cheese dog was the best hot dog I have ever had! The service was quick and kind. My GrandParents lived in Macon and I had many wonderful memories of NuWay on Cotton Ave. that my Grandfather took me to. Today my wife and I stopped into a NuWay on Northside Dr on a trip through Macon and to say it was disappointing would be way to generous. In all fairness the onion rings and ice ( yes their ice was the soft chewable ice) were good. The hotdogs were not good the chili had no taste you could not taste the mustard, onions were few and the slaw tasted like some commercial mass produced substitute for the real thing. The service was poor and the staff were less than cordial. Compared to the service we recieved on Cotton Ave by Ms Mary this was horrible. Poor quality food, bad service and even charging $1.25 for a cup of water seems to say this once great business is a thing of the past. I understand higher prices but I do not accept lower quality ingredients. We will not be back I will just reflect on the great hotdogs and service of the past. read more

Nu-Way Weiners has been a staple in the central Georgia area with nine locations bringing their hot dogs, burgers, etc. to a lot of happy people for over a hundred years. The dogs are a bit on the smallish side, but they pack a lot of great taste and they are just a bit over two dollars a hot dog. I stopped in today for hot dogs for breakfast, the breakfast of champions, since I was passing through the Macon, Georgia area. I have been coming here for over a decade and always look forward to a visit to one of their locations and some of their bright red hot dogs with a taste chili and raw onion topping it. I would recommend that if you are in the Macon area, seek a Nu-Way Weiners out. read more

Jim and I love to eat at different places from Dining to Fastfood. We've been to many diff places and tried Chili Dogs over the past several months. We decided to drive to Macon and I looked up on Google chili dog places and Nu-Way Weiner came up. Since they had many locations we decided to give the location on Northside Dr a chance. We were not disappointed it was excellent. There have 11 locations btwn Macon and Fort Valley. Nothing can replace the Varsity but Nu-Way Weiner comes in second by just a hair!!! We visited this location on Christmas Eve and was still surprised on how busy this place with NO Restrooms stays. So if your needed to go potty you need to go next door to the lovely tanning salon and they will accommodate you. Everybody loves the Macon Nu-Way. This place is known for it's dogs and flaky ice. You have to be good to be featured all over TV, and with 100 years of service... Wow! Nuway, supposedly has the best dogs in Georgia. What a joke! Yes, they have shaved ice equal to that of a snow cone, but who wants to come to a hot dog joint strictly for good ice. Hey, if you have an iron deficiency they make medicines for that. Dont waste your time. Whoever reviewed this place to get them on the map apparently only ate here cause I personally know of two other locations that ROCK as far as hotdogs go. This isnt it. The store was dirty inside. The prices are too high for the amount of food you get. Very bland tasting as well. read more

What is an apparent Macon institution, it was just okay to me. It's definitely popular among the locals, and the line made that evident. The dogs weren't anything special to me though. There was more bun than hot dog, and the chili wasn't what I'm used to. That's no fault of theirs, but it reminds me of Cincinnati chili, and it just isn't my cup of tea due to that hint of cinnamon and/or nutmeg, not sure. I've never been a fan of the bright red dogs either. Again, a personal choice. The fries were very bland and seemed like they could've used a bit more time in the fryer. I didn't have any issues with the prices. The staff was rather impersonal, but I suppose that happens when things get busy. The decor does need an update. There's a lot of photos on the wall, but many really crooked and some gaps where some have been removed, leaving just a nail in the wall. The place also looks like it could use a bit of a better cleaning job. Although I might not revisit, it's been around for decades. That does say something, and I think the Macon locals will keep it going for decades to come. read more

If you like chili dogs, this is the place for you. Their chili is very similar to a Cincinnati chili, sort of sweet, might even have cinnamon in it. Monday-Wednesday they have a special its 3 items, fries, and a drink for $7.79!! read more

Have been going to this location since I was a kid and it's always been delicious. Nothing beats a hot dog all the way and an order or onion rings. Grilled cheese with bacon is my second choice. Basically if you don't like Nu-Way you're either a) not from Macon or b) anti-American. read more

Been going to Nu-Way since childhood (circa mid-1960's). Maybe it is a southern thing but we love them - either with onions or without! This ain't Gordon Ramsey's hot dog joint - this is the local's joint and even though I don't live there now, I consider it my hot dog joint too.
