Nuasa Spa is an overall incredible experience from beginning to end. I will be frequenting this spa in the near future. As soon as I walk in the door I am greeted by one of the owners, by my first name, indicating they were ready for me. I was offered hot tea and given a bathrobe to change into. When introduced to the bathroom there were secure lockers (you set the code) to store your belongings and a large spacious shower. This was excellent seeing as I had been running around the city all morning and wanted to freshen up before my massage. Also located in the bathroom was deodorant spray, body lotion, makeup, etc. Once I was greeted again by the owner to take a seat in one of their private rooms to have my tea and discuss with her what type of treatments I wanted. Afterward, I was led into the room where my Thai massage would take place. They had loose fitting clothing for me to change into. The music was very calm and relaxing. The woman conducting my massage was extremely kind and very thorough. You could tell she was a professional by her skill and by her attitude. Next I had my mini facial. This experience was incredibly relaxing and delightful. Another very kind and professional woman. She cleaned my faced, wrapped up my hair, gave me a custom mask, steam and removed my blackheads. My skin was glowing pink when she was finished :) The overall vibe at this spa was quite ambient and relaxing from the music, to the decor and the wonderful staff. Nuansa was my first spa experience, so to be fair, I don't have another to compare it to. That said - this place is BLISSFUL. I don't like jacuzzi's/hot tubs/steam rooms/saunas or any of those typical spa features, and when my boyfriend surprised me with this visit as an early birthday gift, I was hard-pressed to think of something other than those things, and if I'm lucky, an amazing back rub, that would make this something I'd go out of my way to do again. Boy, was I totally unprepared for what Nuansa had to offer. The entrance is unassuming, and you could miss it if you aren't paying attention, but once I stepped off that elevator on the fifth floor, the entire environment changed. I went from the noisy, crowded, smelly NYC streets to a serene, aromatic, intimate reception area where the hostess (who I believe is also the owner, if I heard my boyfriend correctly) sweetly greeted the both of us with a fresh pair of spa sandals, stored our shoes, and led us down a beautiful, candle-lit hallway - she took me to a spacious changing room, where there was a gorgeous shower, restroom, and lockers to store my belongings, and she took my boyfriend to the waiting lounge, where there were refreshments and comfy seating. When I met Tenzen (sp?), my massage therapist, I wasn't sure what to expect - I was told I would receive a full-body massage and a mini-facial. (Each room is private, by the way, and Nuansa does a fantastic job of making sure you have as intimate an experience as possible - I saw one other person during my whole two hours there, and that was only in the changing room.) Tenzen is outstanding - I climbed under the sheets of the massage bed and had a 60-minute full-body massage, during which Tenzen treated me to hot cloths, what may actually be considered a pedicure, and even body stretches. Tenzen even massaged each of my fingers and toes. After that first hour, I felt so revitalized. But wait! There's more. Tenzen took me to another room where I would receive my mini-facial. When I lay down on the massage table, I realized it was heated! (I was cold from the massage room being air conditioned, and that was such a pleasant surprise!) Tenzen wrapped my hairline in a towel and proceeded to start my facial, which consisted of exfoliation (there was a cream treatment with beads in it, and she even went as far as to remove my blackheads, sorry if TMI), moisturization (lots of cucumber-scented strips, washes, and a mask), and even a scalp massage! Tenzen ended the facial with exfoliant for my lips. I got dressed and came back to the reception area to find the hostess had given my boyfriend his own private room to eat chocolate and nap during my treatment...if you knew how much he loves both chocolate AND naps, you would know that this is a place after my own heart! Not only am I coming back to Nuansa again and again, I would STRONGLY recommend this for a first spa experience, or even for regular spa-goers. I went with my friend last month and it was nothing short of amazing. We were greeted by the elevators and brought to the locker rooms where we had the opportunity to shower and freshen up. Then we were escorted to the waiting room where there were snacks and chocolate truffles available. We had to fill out some questions about our health status, and then we were able to pick an exfoliant for the body scrub and an oil for the massage. The massage helped ease and resolve a back injury I occurred at work a few days ago, and the coffee body scrub left my skin feeling smooth and smelling amazing. My friend told me the cellulite she had on her thighs also disappeared after the scrub and massage! It is pricey, but totally worth the money. read more

This place is amazing! I went for my first time on Sunday, and could not be happier with my results. I've been breaking out a lot more than usual recently, so I decided to try the purity facial. Not only was the experience extremely relaxing, but the results were better than I could've hoped for. Nuansa Spa is amazing. This is in a very unassuming location. The spa is cozy and every detail is considered and carefully planned for a perfect experience. Products are high end and the space is meticulous. I noticed after my shower, there was immediately someone in after me scrubbing it down. The bathroom toilet paper was folded in between my visits. I loved my deep tissue massage and overall experience including the tea, chocolates and shower. The 2 star deduction is feedback for treating my Latin American friends worse then they treated me as a white person. They arrived 20 or so minutes late, and one was very excitedly loud. They were told to quiet down which was fine, and they compromised shortening one of the appointments by 15 minutes to account for the lateness, which was also understandable. What upset me to learn was that they were basically kept from enjoying the lounge - while I was waiting for them there after my massage my friend was told that she had to change and that they would call for me instead of letting her hang out with me for the 15 minutes until our third would finish up. I see reviewers range in background, so I hope others that are non white or non Asians won't face the same disappointment my friends did. read more

Absolutely wonderful day spa. You are greeted like royalty the minute you walk in. The hostess removes your shoes and puts little slippers on you. The spa is immaculately clean, and stocked with everything you need from toiletries to a Dyson hair dryer to use post-shower. The treatments are fantastic--the Classic massage was wonderful, as was the body scrub/massage treatment. I had an absolutely wonderful experience here. I booked a last minute appointment for a deep tissue massage and when I arrived I stepped into a true oasis. The spa is beautiful! Everything from the architecture to the decor made you feel like you escaped the craziness of NYC. They offer all the luxuries of a high end spa and their massage was better than any I have ever had. My deep tissue was truly a DEEP tissue massage with stretching and several different techniques included. I left feeling completely loose and energized. They also offer a Thai massage that I am now dying to try. Everything is immaculately kept and the owner and staff are all so warm and welcoming. I had a Great experience!! I needed a last minute massage and I booked the Deeper Massage and it was everything that I needed. I walked in and it was very quiet, siren and peaceful. The woman that received me upon arrival was so sweet and accommodating. She led me to a changing room to change into a robe and I locked up my personal items. She offered me water, tea or champagne and escorted me to a quiet room with snacks and a comfy couch to wait. I relaxed for a bit and had some snacks which was nice. My masseuse came in and asked which oils I wanted to use during my session. Of course I couldn't decide so she let me pick two and mixed them. That made me happy since I am very indecisive. My massage was amazing, the pressure was on point and I felt so relaxed after. I would definitely come back and I recommend others come and try it out. I found this place through yelp on a whim. I called about 6:51 and they had a 7:30 open with Yia aka Gramdma. She was the best. She's been doing massage work 40 years and really knows what she's doing. She listens to your body and to you. I had a deep tissue and it was a REAL deep tissue. The rest of the staff was amazing. Greeted me at the door. Allowed me to take my time and change and relax and even let me shower and relax after and they were closing. It's my bday weekend and they really gave me A1 service. That's beyond hard to find in nyc and a good masseuse as well. read more
