I went to this place 2 weeks ago, and I had a great experience. I'm very satisfied with the environment. Although the price is a bit high, it's worth the money. Although the massage therapists weren't very young, they were very professional and helped relieve my shoulder blade pain. The service was also very enthusiastic.

The staff was incredibly welcoming and spa was spotless, with a calm, serene atmosphere that immediately helped me unwind. My massage therapist, Naru, was amazing. I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated!

From the moment I stepped into Nuansa Spa, I was enveloped in an oasis of calm that whisked me away from the hustle and bustle of New York City. The spa's ambiance is a harmonious blend of luxury and tranquility, creating a unique experience that rejuvenates both body and mind. The staff at Nuansa are the epitome of professionalism and courtesy. Their attention to detail is impeccable, ensuring that every client feels special and thoroughly pampered. The treatments are nothing short of divine, tailored to meet individual needs with a gentle touch that reflects their commitment to outstanding service. (I'm a few years late for this review).

service: 5/5 cleanliness: 5/5 value: 4/5 On a girls trip to NY and my sister booked this place for a massage. We were able to secure an appointment a few days before and excited to try it out. After we found the spa (it's a bit hidden and in between two large department stores with no sign out front), you take an elevator to the 3rd(?) floor and you are there at the spa. The staff was very welcoming when we walked in and you could feel a sense of tranquility with the lighting and relaxing music - it helped set the mood! The facility was nice and there were several rooms available - I was surprised at the size! After we took our shoes off and swapped them for slippers, we were escorted to the changing rooms. There is one bathroom and one shower, and about 10 lockers for you to store your personal items. We got changed and went to the waiting room where we were given water and there were snacks to take. The masseuses were quick to meet us and took us back to the rooms to begin the massage. Overall, the massage was great! I was able to relax and the masseuse was good at working out a lot of knots that I had while using the right amount of pressure. After the massage was done, I was escorted back to the changing to get ready again. My only complaint is the value of the experience. Usually in other spas, there are other things you can do like the steam or heat room where you can stay for however long you want to relax and there is no rush. I felt a little like once the massage was done that it was time to leave and you couldn't really sit and relax for a bit. I probably wouldn't go back - nothing wrong with the service, just not worth the price.

My friend and I came here one evening for an aromatherapy massage. It's literally a hole in the wall - I walked past it twice and had to double check google maps to make sure I was at the right address! You go in through a long hallway (no doorman - kind of sketchy) until you reach an elevator and you go right up to the 5th floor. Once the door opens into the inviting lobby, it's a completely different world. The staff is extremely sweet and inviting. They take off your shoes and give you slippers right in the lobby. Then they'll usher you into the changing rooms to get changed into a robe. It's good to get there at least 15 minutes before your appointment so you have ample time to shower, change, and munch on snacks and tea in the waiting room. We had 3 choices of scents to choose from for the aromatherapy massage: water, wood, and fire. Honestly, they weren't anything too special - and water and wood smelled exactly the same... while you're waiting, definitely pick up some little snacks like pre packaged nuts to munch on. It's a small seating area, so hopefully you don't go at a time when there more than 3 people waiting. Definitely try their ginger tea when they ask you what you want to drink!! For the actual massage - my masseuse was a sweet lady who was super attentive, asked if there were particular areas she should focus on, and at what intensities - so I guess very expected service. The 60 minute massage was very relaxing and soothing. The facial massage near the end could be better because they massage your hair with oil and THEN massage your face with all the oil from your hair!! All in all, a decent place - nothing to write home about. But great for a quick pick-me-up after a long day at work. Nice tranquil oasis in the middle of 5th Ave!

Yet another AMAZING time at Nuansa Spa! Oh my goodness. Decided to treat my Mum to an early Mothers' Day gift and Nuansa hit the spot - well ALL of them actually. From calm, attentive, loving customer service by Pat as soon as we stepped off the elevator, to the facial and massages, to the after care - we feel so incredibly pampered. In these COVID times, you really are never aware of just how much stress you're carrying. Plus it's hard to know where to go and trust. This was my 3rd time @ Nuansa, and 1st time since COVID, and i must recommend this place to EVERYONE who's looking to take care of themselves in a clean and affirming environment. Ms. Nuanchawee is a shining example of the perfect business owner - first, she's a truly lovely person; 2nd, the spa is clean and tidy with restrictions in mind, and 3rd, she genuinely cares about her customers and staff - it's all reflected in the treatments. My facial was done by Ella who accommodated my request for add'l neck and shoulder massage, and my Mum's specialist Lakanna, worked out ALL of her kinks and knots, borne from being on her feet all day as a nurse. We were able to enjoy champagne for Mum and a delightful pregnancy tea for me - which was a such a caring touch as i'm 5-months along. It was just a great experience all around. Can't wait to be back.

An oasis in the middle of the big city. It has a small nondescript entrance in the middle of the business of the city but once you're upstairs you are transported to a totally different place. When you enter they take your shoes and give you slippers. Then you go to the locker room and change into your robe. You wait in the lounge, where there's candies, snacks and water or tea until they are ready for you. The massage was amazing. Instantly relaxed. When I was leaving the building I was surprised to be met with the noises of midtown. I had totally forgotten where I was.

Ask the Community - Nuansa Spa

I just booked for 4 guests, will we be able to be in the same room for our sessions or can we be separated into pairs for a pair of couples massages at the same time?

Do they have male and female masseuses?

Yes they have both male and female massage therapists. If there's any preference, just let them know when making a booking.

Does this spa have any steam rooms or saunas?

No they do not. They do however, have huge showers in the changing rooms. I was a bit hesitant at first bc they lacked these amenities but the treatments and service outweighs a hot tub.

Fifteen minutes into our 90-minute couples deep tissue massage, I saw my husband's therapist, Lydia, typing on a lit smartphone while leaning over him. When she realized I saw her, she hid the phone under the sheets. There is no version of this that is acceptable. Texting during a paid massage is blatant misconduct. It didn't stop there. My husband repeatedly asked her to focus on his neck and shoulders and avoid his feet. His requests were ignored. The technique was lazy and mechanical - repetitive forearm circling with little to no pressure, despite requesting deep tissue. He left feeling like he didn't receive a massage at all. When we raised the issue, the owner acknowledged the behavior was "unacceptable" yet offered only a 25% discount - as if actively texting during a massage, ignoring repeated client requests, and delivering a substandard service were minor inconveniences. This wasn't just a bad massage. It was a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. We will not be returning.

Not only did we have to deal with the FDNY, a traffic situation which our car presented, angry commuters, and a hefty tow price, we were charged for a service that was not provided due to an emergency situation. The manager on duty, was much more professional than the initial associate who responded. While, we understand we were no shows, we were dealing with an unforseen situation. Yuni definitely knows what she is doing because I didn't need to tell her about my problem spots she hit them right away! A 40% mandatory tip posted on the wall. A "cash is better" front desk. A masseur who had to be yelled for like a dog. Real physical pain a full day later. Read this and run. Walked in at 5:35pm for a 90-minute foot massage. Walked into dark room where masseur was sitting in dark, chilling. Told to sit down. Sat 10 minutes while the masseur walked away. First red flag. He came over to start with shoulders, which is standard for Chinese reflexology. I declined and asked for feet and legs only. He dropped my feet in a basin of hot water and disappeared again. Unprofessional from the first second. Once the massage started, it was clear this man has no technique. Zero. 90 minutes of brainless squeezing, yanking, and grinding like he was aggressively scrubbing a pot. No skill. No rhythm. No pressure control. He seemed nice enough as a person. This is just not the job for him. I have hairy legs and he used so little product the friction was unbearable. It felt like rug burn. I told him during the massage. He kept going. I asked for less pressure. He kept going. I asked for more product. He barely adjusted. It is now past 11:15 the next morning and my legs are STILL on fire. Every hair follicle feels inflamed and yanked at the root. Skin feels raw. I woke up in pain. That is not a massage. That is sanding someone's legs down for 90 minutes. Hygiene was vile. He repeatedly plunged his bare hand into an old communal jar of product, smeared it on my bare feet, and dunked right back in. Over and over. No spatula. No pump. No scoop. Just bare hands, bare feet, and one shared open jar collecting skin oils and dead skin from every client before me. NY State requires massage establishments to keep equipment and supplies in a clean and sanitary manner, and double-dipping bare hands into shared product between clients?! This is exactly the kind of sanitation issue that gets businesses written up. The front desk woman seems sweet for 30 seconds. Then, unprompted: "yeah, cash is better." Universal red flag for no paper trail. Combined with everything else, the place is shady. Tipping policy is insulting. Posted on the wall: $20 per hour of service. On a $75, 90-minute massage, that is a mandated $30 tip. 40%. For service this horrible. That is a shakedown, not a tip. After the massage, he vanished again. No thank you. No water. No goodbye. The front desk woman had to yell for him like she was calling a dog. And this is the man collecting a mandatory 40% tip! When asked how it was, and I told her the massage was honestly bad, she did not even ask why. No follow-up. No apology. No concern. Just blank indifference, like complaints are a daily occurrence. She was already pressing the elevator button and standing at the door, ready to flush me out before anyone overheard. I have had hundreds of massages in dozens of countries. Hotel spas, neighborhood shops, luxury resorts, at random beach cabanas, night markets, and even sessions with blind therapists whose technique was extraordinary. This was an able-bodied man with full use of his eyes and hands, and he managed to deliver the worst massage of my life! Every glowing review here and on Google is a lie. Fake, planted, or written by people who have never had a real massage. No honest person walks out of here and calls it good. Take your money and your dignity literally anywhere else. AVOID. RUN.
