It wasn't until they got to my feet & after my left foot was massaged, the person pulled my right foot hard and I was extremely startled. It was a completely different masseuse. They do an upper body massage first, then move on to the hot stones, then lower body massage, then full body again. It was a super relaxing experience and will be coming back. Just absolutely unheard of how cheap it was. The place itself is a little dumpy, on the second floor above a Dunkin Donuts, but they did a decent job with the space and the waiting room was pretty relaxing. We were taken in for our massage pretty quickly. I did notice that they rushed us a little bit to get settled on the tables. The massage itself was good, a little too rough at times but they were good about going lighter when asked. I felt great and refreshed after the massage, and the process of checking out was easy. It's no frills and pretty transactional, get in, get some of your knots out, get out, but that was expected for the price. I booked an appointment today through ClassPass but unfortunately had a delayed bus and asked if there was any way the appointment could be pushed back. I've never experienced someone be so short as I was asking about any options for coming later or pushing the appointment back and was shocked to be hung up on mid conversation (and know this wasn't a heated conversation of any sort). Super disappointed in this place and would definitely not recommend. I have been here a few times before and it was good but lately not so great for a few reasons: - The space was cold and they have drapery curtains and not doors to separate tables so not very private, tables are not heated. - Also they charge more than what they advertise on their website for "fees" so ask for a receipt and keep an eye on your credit card statement as it may be more than what you expected to pay. I asked why the extra charges and they tried to say it was because of taxes. The most pain I've ever been in. I came in for a couples massage and it was so much less present than any massage I've ever had. Honestly I have a super high pain tolerance. One of my shoulders is hurt so I asked the masseuse to be easier and she was for like 10 seconds then I had to ask her again on the other shoulder. It was awful the entire time. There were literally tears on the pillow when I rolled over onto my back. I kept thinking that she'd ease up soon or maybe if I went through the entire thing I'd feel better later but nope. Then of course her nails kept digging into my skin and I mentioned multiple times that it hurt. By the end I was ready to leave and never come back. When you first walk in, it looks pretty unassuming and there are none of the frills that spas usually offer but don't let that keep you away. I regularly get massages and this was quite possibly the best massage I've ever received. I arrived 10 mins early and was promptly taken to my room. I had scheduled a Swedish massage and it was very relaxing while also addressing all my problematic areas. The person who was massaging me used gentle pressure to find all my knots and tense areas and was able to relieve a lot of the pain that had built up from sitting at a desk for long hours. It was very transactional so I did not get the sense of relaxation at all. The lights are super bright, the chairs for the reflexology are in this tight area facing the massage rooms as well. I went with my husband for couples massage on Sunday night. They are new, so they still have many openings for the day. Very reasonably priced. Massage was good, from head to toe. Hot stone was very good as well. Those could be painful sometimes but not at this place. The only weird thing is that when we were in the room with my husband, ready for massage, one masseuse and one masseur came in. Male straight went to me and women to my husband, I asked them to switch which they did. I would never have a total body massage done by a male. Upon arrival I wasn't really greeted and was immediately placed in a room, which I would say was one of the few negatives of the experience, along with the fact that you can hear everything that is happening outside of the room which takes away from the relaxation aspect, but the 1 hour deep tissue massage itself was wonderful and for checking in on yelp I got a hot stone treatment included. I'm not a big massage person having only gotten two other ones in my life, but this experience has turned me into a convert. I literally thought to myself "I wish I had a promotion coming up... I could use some more massage money." I was so impressed by the cleanliness and peacefulness of CBW. The last place in the city I went to was exactly what I expected for a one $ sign establishment--in a basement, hot, and not very quiet. CBW had really soft towels, the perfect amount of AC in summer, and I was led into an area behind a door so that the noise from the lobby didn't carry through! I went at 4:15pm on a Tuesday and was able to walk in without an issue, but as I was leaving I did hear them say to someone else that there were no more appointments for the day so I would book ahead. My masseuse was so kind but really worked out all my knots using a combination of lotion and hot stones! I've also never experienced a place that asks you to flip over so they can get the front of your chest and head. Loved the thoroughness and the fact that my arms and legs were also addressed (some places skip these). An hour is a LONG time. The last place I visited made me wonder if they had rushed me because I felt done too quick. My masseuse used a timer, but even if she hadn't--I felt like I was laying there all day relaxing. Greeted by friendly staff who directed me to the room which was way too hot. They immediately changed the temperature to my liking. The massage bed was sturdy and comfortable. What was NOT comfortable was the head rest. By the time I was flipped onto my back, my sigh of relief was about as good as any point in the massage. The overall massage was good. I just had a spur of the moment Massage at Chelsea body work. They are competitively priced and from the outside you may question the integrity of the place. It is a walk up on the second floor. It's not fancy but it's OK and you get a good massage for the money. And it was one of the best deep tissue massage as I have had. I'm giving it four stars because the ambience in the massage room could be a little bit better and they don't have real massage table where you can stick your head through a head support at the end of the table but what they have for sufficient.
