Stopped by Nueces in Corpus Christi and had a solid barbecue experience. We ordered the brisket, sausages, a side of elote, potato salad and everything was flavored just right. A few pieces of the brisket leaned a little dry, but nothing too bad. The space is very open with plenty of seating, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall, a great spot for BBQ. Loved that they had sauces, pickles and peppers that you can load up on as you please!

Another really flavorful beer

First things first, I'm a pescatarian and thus going into a traditional BBQ in Texas is probably not a great place for me and dinning... but who cares? They are also a brewery! The beers my wife had were very tasty and fresh. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The facility is nice, clean and pleasent to enjoy an adult beverage. The BBQ did smell amazing and they have the complete Texan condiment bar.

What an amazing brewery. All of their beer selections are brewed in-house, and every one I tried was excellent. The bartender/server was an absolute gem--super friendly, conversational, and genuinely fun to talk to. I even ended up chatting with some locals, which really added to the vibe. The atmosphere is perfect for kicking back at the bar, enjoying great beer, and having good conversations. Good vibes all around. They also serve food; I didn't get a chance to try it, but plenty of people were ordering and everything coming out looked great. If you're in Corpus Christi and looking for a quality brewery experience, this is the spot. Easily the best one in town.

2 meat and 2 sides $22 - turkey and brisket
Brent L.

As always, I have to start my review with the fact that they have a 3% credit card surcharge. That's B.S. in my opinion - I'll leave it at that. We ordered the 2 meat and 2 sides for $22. It was turkey, brisket, potato salad, and mac & cheese. The beer selection is really good, but the bbq is just so-so. I'd go back, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. It's a fun place to hang out on a weekend afternoon - the 3% surcharge really turns me off though.

Dry, dry ribs.

If you want dry shitty ribs come here to eat. The service is pay at register and help yourself. The food dining area is big and open.

Double brisket plus Hefeweizen beer

A fun, casual bbq joint with a cashier to order drinks and food. The brisket tasted excellent with great, deep flavors and melt in your mouth texture. The bbq sauces were also top notch and one of my favorite perks about this restaurant. They bring the food out to you and they have decent sides that I really enjoyed. The green beans weren't smoothed in oil and the pinto beans were great. They had somewhat of a vinegar aftertaste so just keep that note if you are looking for more traditional pinto beans. Very dog friendly with an outdoor patio. Water and non-alcoholic drinks are serve yourself. Really liked their beer! To note: they charge a 3% fee for credit cards. I don't notice this until after I paid and looked at the receipt. I'm not a regular so it came as a surprise.

Fall off the bone ribs, moistest brisket in town! Craft beer with seasonal options and unique flavor profiles! Owners are super fun and involved in our community! Great place for group gatherings! Fun events too! They just opened a spot in the airport as well!

Brisket taco

I had a taste for some BBQ and the brisket tacos definitely met expectations. This was a great experience. They had a car show and also a hot wings contest going on so it was really nice to just eat and enjoy the entertainment. The staff was very helpful with explaining their menu and drinks.

We got the Brisket Nachos, and they were pretty good. Looks are a little deceiving because there were a ton of chips under all the toppings and by the time we got through the first half we didn't finish the rest because it was all chips. Still good, but not our favorite.

Wing night Wednesday

Nice place to hangout with family and friends. Food and beers amazing. The wings were amazing. Sweet Bbq and Dry Rub pickle

Condiment bar, self-serve drink station, and just a few of the cool pieces of art.

A long time ago I remembered brewers from the now defunct "Lorelei Brewing Company", an excellent…read morebrewery suggested me to check out the "Rebel Toad Brewing." The thing is that they have interesting hours, which made it hard for me to go visit. And my only way of trying their beers has been exclusively, at the bar inside the Hilton Double Tree Hotel. Enter having Valentine's Day on a Friday, which opened up the possibility to finally visit it. One thing about downtown Corpus Christi is that it is small and therefore absolutely no parking is available. Making going to Rebel Toad a bit precarious. We were able to secure a spot in the front before it opened at 3 pm. Having passed by it before I thought it was much bigger but it is small inside. There are a couple of high tables and chairs, accompanied by counter seating. I believe the owners are a couple and they were very friendly. The taplist is seven-ish beers deep. Some places are weary about giving samples. They offered some with recommendations. But me, I opted for a flight. Their beers are good. I did enjoy their "Liquid Haze IPA" but I think it's laid-back vibe close to the beach is what I ultimately appreciated. In addition a really killer playlist of the 80's was in the background. Any place that plays "Depeche Mode" will get my patronage, all day. The parking situation leaves a little to be desired. And I think not having food or at least nearby options might be an issue for some. But not for me. I probably will come back here again. But I'd like to visit here at night. In my city of San Antonio the craft beer scene is a bit inundated at the moment. In my opinion the Corpus Christi craft beer scene is in its infancy and might remain there for awhile. Rebel Toad Brewing can only help build that community. Now if I can only get rid of my fear of the ocean caused by seeing "Jaws." Then again the city is so laid-back back, I'll probably run into him here. And the 1st round will be on him.

The reviews had us feeling a little worried but we decided to try this establishment anyways…read morebecause it looked too good not to. In the end we're appalled that there were such bad reviews. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by their brewery and a chalkboard with their current drinks on tap! We were seated immediately and pleased with the ambiance off the bat. I got the cerveza de la flor and my S/O got the sparkling kiss. I was impressed by the beer and she was very happy with her drink! We started with the ceviche fusion and we were skeptical at first. It is delicious on its own however the kitchen did not salt or pepper it seemingly at all. So in order to truly enjoy it you must be bold and salt/pepper it yourself. It brought the ceviche to life and made everything pop. Very good choice for an appetizer. For our main dishes I she got the Bang-Bang shrimp pasta. You are greeted with a half pound of popcorn shrimp covered in a delectable spicy sauce that pairs so nicely with the pasta. It is very filling so you will have leftovers (unless you've eaten nothing all day of course). I got the Crawfish Étoufée and I was very pleased. It came with 2 sides (broccoli slaw and maque choux) and both were good pairings. The broccoli slaw was tasty and I was very happy with how sweet and savory it was. The maque choux paired amazingly with the étouffée. So well in fact that I mixed the 2 dishes. There is so much value in what you get and we went home with full bellies and plenty of leftovers for the next day! We highly recommend Railroad Brewery!

For Valentine's Day me and my partner decided, like last year to go to Corpus Christi for two…read morereasons: we thought Valentine's Day would not be crazy and the ocean is our happy place. Of course I was wrong. Our usual spot was packed to the brim but as usual we had a good time. The next day the trip to our usual pit stop was unceremoniously closed. Our hunger meter was slowly approaching towards "Hangry." The day before we noticed a place in a restaurant group called "B&J's" that offered pizza, grinders( a Michigan Staple) and brewed their own craft beer. When we got there before opening at noon, cars slowly started to fill up available parking spaces. I always see this as a good sign. In addition I always survey a menu before I go to any spot. My opinion is that it is always good to have a Plan B just in case a situation arises. And with traveling, there will always be variables So we went inside and it was not at all what I expected. A brewpub, to me denotes a seemingly mature crowd. Instead families were visiting to have parties. I saw a couple there for a date. Every demographic young and old was represented. It was extremely welcoming. So I ordered their lunch special that comes with a drink and an 8 inch pizza. And my partner went with an Italian Grinder. It's basically counter service. And you sit where you want. Me, like Norm from "Cheers" I am drawn to where the tapwall is. The interior feels like a lived in pizza joint with lots of stories. There is ample seating but judging by the birthday parties happening it fills up quickly. By the time I got to the bar's counter all the lights were on. Hanging from the ceiling was a chandelier made of taphandles of all the breweries that have traversed here. I wondered how some of those places regionally, nationally and locally made it here? Corpus Christi is like an island with hidden gems abound. No matter. I pounded on thee counter as any seafaring matey from San Antonio, Texas would do. They have a good selection of beers on tap and in cans. The tapmaster, Mikey poured me a pint of the Red Eye PA, an Imperial IPA. No sooner did my pour come to me that the food also arrived. My pizza was good as well as the grinder. The service is excellent here. Firstly tapmaster Mikey was an extremely friendly and knowledgeable server. I can tell he is passionate about the beers and food served there. As a craft beer enthusiast I enjoy talking to likeminded people. And talking to him was like having a conversation with a walking encyclopedia. He definitely made our detour worth the trip. We are already making plans to visit again soon. B&J's Pizza and Brewpub is an excellent place to bring families, friends, dates and birthday parties. The pizza is good. The beers are great. And the service is excellent. We had an amazing experience there. I think I have found a new spot when we are in Corpus Christi. ps. Any place that has a "Busted Sandal Brewing Co." sticker on their wall will get 5 stars from me, all day!

And the manager we spoke to went above and beyond to make sure not only we were ok, but she was checking on so many tables and was in the back helping the kitchen. I'm sorry to her that we had these issues while it was so busy. Also the ambiance was excellent. Beautiful decor very simple yet elegant. I wish I tried the beer but i was upset and not hungry anymore. Story Time: we came to the restaurant ordered a lot of food. They had a sign on the table for the happy hour from 3 to 7 after we had ordered off of that happy hour menu we had found out that that menu is for the bar and patio it is not for dining. my chicken parmigiana with spaghetti had a long black hair in it which confused me because the man who brought it to me had like no hair. I had told our waitress about the hair and just asked for it to be taken off our bill that was the end of that conversation because she never came back to our table for the rest of the night which was about 45 minutes to an hour of us being there. The manager was kind enough to offer us not only the buffalo sliders, but she also asked if we wanted one of their famous pazookies which was of course phenomenal. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible I'm writing this so the situation will actually be followed up on. When the manager had brought our bill over. Again, our server was dealing with her other three tables so she was apparently too busy. So the manager was our correspondence that's when we found out about the specials but we had asked the manager a server our server who i went to ask for a box. And then we had to ask another server for a box and she brought us a bowl. All of this while our server was purposefully, avoiding our table going out out of her way, physically to not have to walk next to our table which was near the bar. She walked around other sections so that she didn't have to walk past us to go to the table that was behind us.

It's really nice and clean on the inside which put us in a good mood. We ordered drinks before eating. My wife got the Mai Thai and I got beer and a double shot of Jamison. I didn't like the one light beer they had on draft. It was too hoppy for me. During the mail, I ordered a bottle of Coors (didn't have it on draft). We ordered a flat bread pizza for my wife and I got the fish and chips but substituted the rice pilaf for the fry's. The food was really good. My wife loved her pizza and it was the best battered fish I've ever had. The rice was pretty good too. However the price was a bit high. It was $107.00 and change.
