Menu is limited...only bbq...had the 2 meat plate. It was just ok. The pinto beans were undercooked ... had clear broth. Anyone who has made pinto beans knows these are simply not cooked long enough. Saw this place on yelp and decided to check it out for a mid-morning vacation beer and some food! We made the mistake of thinking they opened at 11 rather than 1130, causing us to hang out in the parking lot until opening time. We walked in a few seconds after they had unlocked the door, but you would have never known we were the first customers to show up! The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and quick. We ordered the chopped BBQ sandwich, pulled pork street tacos and elote. We also ordered two of the house Hefeweizen beers, and grabbed our seats. We decided to sit outside, which was empty due to their just opening. I went inside to grab ourselves some waters, and saw the bar including pickles, onion, BBQ sauce, etc. I grabbed what we needed for our meal. Our food came out very quickly, and we immediately got to work. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5, is that the food was good, but it was not anything to write home about. Would absolutely go back, however it did not blow me away! We try to be very honest when writing reviews, while also being respectful of course. I didn't have any beer, and the sides need some work, but the pit master knocked it out of the park with the brisket and ribs, so I'm going with 5 stars. The BBQ came wrapped in grease-soaked serving paper and pink butcher paper. I ordered "marbled" brisket, which is a euphemism for fatty, and is AKA moist. It's the good stuff. The bark was softened a little by the butcher paper, and the spice balance in the bark was just right. It was moist, juicy, tender, beefy, and was delicious. The St Louis pork rib had an excellent rub, and was also well balanced. The chew and pull from the bone was spot on. This was my first, and only time here, so I don't know if the pit master can do it this well every time, but it was right tonight. I just got to Corpus Christi from judging BBQ at the the Houston Rodeo 3 days ago. I also ate at Truth BBQ and Pinkerton's in Houston, and in my opinion, Nueces BBQ was better tonight than both of them. As I said, the sides need work. The potatoes in the potato salad were undercooked. The corn in the elote was not charred, the dessert pretzel was very good, but would have been outstanding with a little more sugar and cinnamon on it. Knowing a catered party was coming, instead of preparing separate food for the party they used their stock of service food and let the food supply run short. Want to give them a decent review since they're pretty much the first craft brewery in Corpus or really anywhere around here, but as some other reviews have hinted at, the bar tender could be a bit more friendly. I'm sure it's totally an unconscious thing, but he just came off as very matter-of-fact and not really engaging. One easy thing to change that would help improve the vibe would be to give the beers creative names that also hint at their flavor profiles instead of just "IPA" "Pilsner," etc. There's also a lot of space in the building that feels unused, but it's a very new space so with time I'm sure things will gradually improve as long as they recognize where they are lacking. read more

First time here. Food was really good, atmosphere was cozy and very open. Food menu has a larger selection when you are ordering in house than what you find online. Seating is long bench style picnic like tables. Beer was good and there was quiet a few different selections to choose from. Kid and pet friendly as well as very reasonably priced. read more

First of all, it was our first time at this place. Very nice and so roomy. After receiving our food, the lady brought the bag to our table. We were surprised that no paper plates were offered . So it was very messy to eat from very thin paper. Paper plates would have been appreciated. As for the barbecue, it was delicious. Nothing bad to say about the food.
