What's not to love? We smelled this place as soon as we started heading towards the cultural district. We had plans to eat somewhere else but it turned out their online menu was incorrect and they didn't offer safe food for me (allergy wise). BBQ it is! The older (than us) gentleman behind the counter was so patient with me as I couldn't decide between beef or pork ribs. I'm very obviously pregnant and so when he made my plate he threw in a pork rib for me to try to see if I liked one more than the other. They are BOTH delicious! Just making sure everyone knows. I ordered a beef rib plate with double coleslaw. My husband got sausage plate with double mac. I also got a sweet tea lemonade that I drank the rest of the afternoon because it it THAT big. Haha. Went here for dinner on 3/17/26. It's a pretty typical BBQ joint. Don't let the menu pics on yelp fool you. The prices are considerably higher but not out of whack for today. Had the two meat plate with brisket and pork ribs. Both meats were cooked correctly but neither had a remarkable flavor. The sides (potatoe salad and Cole slaw) were ok. 1st time going to Mac's. A very pleasant surprise. Food, service, restaurant was all great. Enjoyed them having a senior plate for seniors. Being a senior do not eat as much as a younger person, so it has smaller portions and the price is cheaper, what a deal. The two men working were so polite and answered all my questions. I ordered the three meat combo and it fed me lunch with plenty left for another meal at home. Our son said the brisket was better than City Market in Luling, but I found everything to be just normal BBQ and sides. I did like that they served a generous amount of sauce in a small styrofoam dish that made dipping easy. If you dine-in you will be entertained by the many cute signs and decorations on the walls. We are first time customers and it won't be our last. We ate here yesterday for the first time even though we have driven past it before many times. We live in Holiday Beach and own an RV park across from the Valero gas station so, we had some work done on our truck in-town. We finally made the leap and we weren't disappointed we shared a plate and had brisket and pork ribs. We had two sides the yummy corn and broccoli salad. Loved the BBQ sauce they make it was a little zip, but great flavor. We went out full and had left over brisket to take home. I love tasting smoked brisket whenever I can. I smoke it, I savor it and I love it. We've even did a road trip with the goal of tasting brisket every place we could across country. We've been in the area since November and have our favorite BBQ places in the Conroe/Houston area and have been sorely disappointed with recommendations in Rockport. That is until yesterday!
