I've gotten my face waxed multiple times there and the last two times were very disappointing: the lady was rushed (the one that runs the place and answers the phone), I had to ask to get my eyebrows trimmed and it wasn't done well and them later in the evening once the initial inflammation from the waxing came down, I realized that she took off a good portion of skin on my chin. I used to really like going here, but the convenience of being close to my home won't be enough. read more

Went here for the first time this past weekend and couldn't be happier. I wish I got my girls name so I could make reservations to see her again. She gave the best foot massage and even did an extra massage with stones. Best part of it all, only costed $20. I used to go to another salon in Newcastle but they raised their prices and polish kept chipping after a week or so. I'll def be back to this salon! It was my first time in. I was recommended to this place. I was a bit hesitant after I arrived. The presentation of the place was nice. Upon that observation I chose to do business. I booked an appointment and came back the following day. My feeling about the place did not change. It is nice, it is clean. But the friendliness was minimal. I did not feel like my business mattered. I showed the owner a pic of what I wanted but shorter and it was a coffin cut. The price went up $15.... can someone explain how the cost increase and the work was less ... the tip was cut with scissors. SO, once the tips were in place, the technician cut the shape. I saw immediately this was a less experience nail tech. The shape was just sad. I did let her know it was not good, it was way off my nailbed, and she burned me, also assured me the acrylic will fill in and fix what I pointed out. But nope, it did not fix it, I also seen the shape of the nail just flat out was not what I wanted. She sanded and there was no buffing out, she moved me to get my pedicure done, and took on another customer. I sat there with unfinished nails, and the pedicurist started in. What I seen as advertised for the product to used was not used on my feet. So disappointed that you have multiple options but the "new" customer is not aware of the "other" products being used. After my pedicure, no instruction, and then finally the first tech comes by and say oh, go over here now. She finished on the other customer, and came back to me. COVID . . . . How are you to gain new customers if you treat them like cattle. Isn't my services just as important? It was the most awkward nail painting I've experienced. Just so weird. But, I had one thing done to these nails, added a gold strip of decorative thin tape. Took no glue, no designer expertise, not extra paint, just tape. When I get up to pay the owner, she tells me there is an extra $10 charge for design. I asked what design, she said the gold strips? I have a total of four fingers affected, six small no brainer strips. She said it was a talent and hard work the tech took to complete the look. I took my mask down, and gave her a look of "you have got to be joking" . . . that was no talent, no extra effort, etc. she took $5 off and said will that work, I said the spool of tape didn't cost $5. But I'm a fair customer. I pay for my services, never look to gain any extra. But I am truly disappointed with the work this tech did on my nails. DO you know the owner never asked to see my nails, cause had she looked closer she would know it was not a good job. Good effort, poor results. So you know I will let ladies know this was not a good recommendations, I will never suggest this place to anyone. EPIC FAIL, you are not #1 in my book! $90 for some low budget work, I agree with Jo M. save your money, and go elsewhere. read more

It is not the first time I leave this store not very happy. Last time I went there pedicure was ok but the lady who did my manicure shellac, she finished her job in less than 20 minutes. She barely made my cuticles. One week later, my cuticles were so big that I needed to remove Shellac ahead of time. I spent 50 dollars and I did not take any advantage of it. My friend treated me to a manicure and pedicure for my birthday here. Unfortunately, this experience was horrible. The lady doing my pedicure ended up cutting me three times and during my manicure she cut me another time. I would have just left, but I was with my friend whom was treating me to this. In addition to what has already happened, the lady was smoothing down my heels with what looked like a hand cheese grater, literally! After she was done with my heels, I saw her put it into the sterilizer that was not on, and right away the lady that was doing my friends pedicure took out the same grater and went right into smooth down my friends heels. Gross! The sterilization protocol not up to par by any means. I told myself I will just get through this and not come back to this place. My friend that was treating me to this, complained about what happened to me, but they ended up charging her full price for what I just endured. A week later, my toe nail start to lift up on the right side of my big toe. I took off the polish and it appeared to me as an infection. I went to the foot doctor, and confirmed that I did have a fungus infection. Due to the nature of the fungus infection, I had to take a specific type of antibiotics. However, before I could take these I had to get my liver tested to make sure my liver is ok in order to take these antibiotics. I got my liver test and started to take the antibiotics, and ended up getting so sick from them. I ended up taking several rounds of another type of antibiotics I could consume and had use a special toe nail topical antibiotics. This costed my so much of my time, money, and physically being sick. I spent well over $500 on this and all what should have been a relaxing and fun birthday gift from my friend. I do not recommend this place. If you are going to proceed, proceed with caution as I do not want anyone having to go through what I have gone through. read more

My sister goes here pretty often and recommended this place. I give them 5 stars for two reasons: - My entire family was in town and all 5 of us girls just walked in on a Sunday with NO reservations and they were able to fit us all in within about 20 mins! We all got pedicures AND manicures. - They have the best and biggest selection of shellac polishes than any other salon I've been to! (P.S. they have mood color changing ones, which I wasn't a fan of, but looked cool!) My first time here was maybe three months ago, for my first shellac manicure with my sister. Since then I've been back four times with my mom or sister. Yes, this place can get crowded on evenings and weekends, and there can be a wait (though I never waited more than 30 minutes) so if this is an issue you should call in advance. Each time I go the same woman does my manicure which is nice because it ensures the quality of work. My family has has similar experiences with other staff. Each time I go the manicure lasts at least two weeks, but I'm boring and always get the same two colors. I was looking for someone that would consistantly do my nails with attention to detail. If there is anything not exactly right with my nails, it bothers me. Last night was my Mother and I's first visit, we came because of all the great views below. So I thought I would add. We had an appt for 530 but were running a little behind, so I called to let them know. First impressions walking in there, the pictures don't do justice, this place is very clean, pretty modern (dark tones through out), spacious for a nail/hair salon, they were very friendly, and professional. I had a mani/pedi (shallac) and the pedi was just enough time to feel relaxed. The massage I received was great and she took her time. Because we were waiting on my Mom, my lady went and helped her next client with just foiling her fingers to take off the shallac and then came back to me to take me to her station to finish my mani. I didn't have to wait long. Again, my mani took no time (30 secs of drying the shallac, doing that 3 times) and then I received an arm massage at the end, complimentary. Since my Mom had arylic hers took a little longer and we ended up closing out the store. We were there until 815pm or so. BUT it was worth it, they gave us free eyebrow waxing and took the time needed to make my Moms nails look great. Hong (the owner) and her daughter (Kim, I think) did my Moms nails and they both speak clear english and were very professional and made a point to tell us that if we didn't like anything to tell them that they would make it right (old school, that is how it should be). They really care about their business and you can tell. They also offer facials and chair massages along with all the other nail and hair needs. I did a review a few months back and it wasn't such a good one. I must say I've recently returned to the nail salon this is my 2nd time since the previous not so good review. Hung the owner explained the shellac pedicure and it is much different than the regular pedicure and I clearly didn't realize that. Today I got a manicure and it was good, the communication with the person doing the manicure and myself was strained however Hung came to the rescue and cleared up the miscommunication. This was my 'go to', "Number One" nail shop in Renton, WA. I am; originally from, Georgia, and am very particular about nail shops. I started my experiences at the business when I moved to the Renton/Newcastle area, continued going there while I had a temporary stint in the SeaTac area, and now that I am in Ballard, I drive all the way to Renton for the treatment. My last week's experience, was not really a good one, for several reasons: First, there were not enought nail technicians for the number of customers so the wait was long. - This was an issue on my previous visit, where the owner had to phone workers to come in, due to the customers. Second, the owner failed to speak to me as she came over to assist with the gel removal. - She was getting over a bad cold or the flu, so I am happy that she did not sit long and breath on me. I have been going in there long enough for her to recognize and know me by name. Third, I told them, twice, that I wanted a gel touch up AND nail polish removal for my toes, which equates to me getting my toes repolished or another suggested service. Last, I had to keep looking at areas and touching my nails that needed to be redone in the process, to not get inadequate service. The quality of service needs to get back to where it was before...before whatever took place. I am willing to give them ONE LAST CHANCE, and if they blow that chance, I will not return again. read more

Service was quick, friendly and I was able to make a same day appointment for a full but I hate the way my nails turned out. I asked the the tech to make them the coffin shape and got a pale pink color, all of my nails are different shapes and they are so thick, I can't even type and I'm used to this length! A week later and the gel polish is already peeled off completely. They were kind of pricey for just a fill so I'm upset. I feel like my nails are ruined and now I have to take them off and start over again. Kind of scared to see what's underneath as she didn't shorten or remove my real nail where it had grown out, hopefully there isn't any infection. read more

Come here about every couple of months for pedicures. At first the girls were great, sweet, professional and the leg massages were awesome also owner Hong is very nice, professional and helpful. However, the last several times we've been in the service for pedicures is getting worse. Girls don't understand what you're saying no matter how often you repeat the question. Pedicure soak, scrub, massage very poor and quick. The painting of nails is quick and not professional looking. Very very disappointing. For $35 I expect to be listened to and not feel as if I'm inconveniencing someone. Will be looking for new place. read more

Not sure how this place has such a high rating, it was a very quick, run-of-the-mill pedicure. The chairs they sat my boyfriend and I in were both broken, the massage didn't work. Isn't that like half the reason you get a pedi? Duh. The pedicures themselves were very basic and short, his was 10 minutes, mine about 15. When they scrubbed our heels and rough spots they did it for maybe 5-10 seconds, no exaggeration. Staff was nice enough. No big cons with this place but there's definitely nothing that makes it stand out from any other hole in the wall nail shop. I wouldn't come back. read more

I tried this place out recently, but was a little turned off by the way the owner handles customers. She appears to go for 'quantity vs. quality' - she juggles way too many customers at once. She doesn't always complete her service with a customer and has another employee either start you or complete your service. If I wanted another employee to do my nails, I would have made an appointment with them. She's obvious not interested in turning people away and will make you wait for a very long time because she overbooks. And parking is not great. The last time I went the lady doing my nails left me because another lady complained how they never got to her and she was waiting. The worker replayed with "you should have reminded us" correct me if I'm wrong but isn't your job to know, not be reminded. I was getting an acrylic fill with gel, the gel fell off my thumb within a week (never has happened with acrylic) and my nails needed a fill within 1 week NOT 2 because she didn't fill them all the way to the cuticle. I came in a Saturday afternoon with a friend. The place was packed which was a good sign. We were greeted, asked to pick the lacquers and wait. There was water and hot tea available. My was the nail tech who did my gel manicure and regular pedicure. This was my first time getting gel and I didn't know what to expect. My made quick work of my hands which had not seen a nail shop in months. She was very diligent about her work and noticed afterward that my nails weren't as shiny as they were suppose to be. She put on more top coat. Overall it is pretty amazing. I have cut my nails, the lacquer didn't crack or chip. Three weeks later I'm tired of the color but my nails still look good except they have grown out a ton. My did an excellent pedicure as well. She did a cute design on my toes. Even though we did regular polish for my feet, it lasted through a vacation, flip flops, hot yoga and trisket flooring and more. Lastly, My missed her calling as a full time masseuse. She worked my hands, arms, feet and legs and really put some muscle into it. I floated out of the shop. This is going to be my go to nail shop. read more

If I could recommend anything it would be to increase their staff to will reduce wait times. I went in on a Wednesday evening around 5pm. Also the prices weren't posted anywhere. I ended up paying $53 ($33 for Shellac Fill and $20 for a basic pedicure). I thought that was a little much. The prices shouldn't be mysterious. When I left they gave me a punch card, with so many visits I'd earn a free eyebrow service. I will definitely be back because of the service and cleanliness. Everyone there was definitely nice and everything but the quality of their nails is why I gave them 3 stars. When the lady started to cut my nails and cuticles, she wasn't paying attention to how she was cutting them and would even turn away while doing it to the point where my nails were uneven and she cut through my skin. I tried to be polite and ignore that but when my nail polish was done, you could clearly see the first layer coat and the second. It looked so unprofessionally done. I couldve done it at home myself. I went in on Monday for a shellac manicure. On Tuesday my thumb and index finger on my right hand had already peeled up. Then today my left thumb peeled as well. I went to GJ about a month ago and that shellac lasted 3 weeks without any chipping or peeling. read more
