The crew at #1 Pro have really cornered the market on a high quality, good value nail salon. The shop is essentially by appointment only, and you can tell why as soon as you arrive. You are never ignored or told to wait and you are welcomed warmly. I find sometimes at affordable nail salons that the staff will often talk to each other a lot but not engage the patrons, but that is just not the case here. Everyone is so nice and so happy, which is really a breath of fresh air after a long day at work. They have a great selection of shellac and regular polishes, predominantly OPI, and the salon is clean and well-maintained. If you book for mani/pedi (as I often do) they will start both your toes and your hands at once so that you are out of there faster - so efficient and thoughtful. My only complaint is that sometimes I can't get an appointment same day as this place is so popular. read more

As an out-of-towner, I was in need of a mani/pedi. I called to get a last minute appointment for gel nails and regular pedicure and they were able to fit me in. My appointment was set for 315 but since I arrived early, I was seen shortly after. I wish I had gotten my nail technician's name because she was very polite, did an amazing job, and I was done in just under an hour. The salon is a fun and welcoming environment. It is clean and great selection of the latest colors. I love coming here. The staff is always super sweet, and if you're a Seahawks fan or football fan in general they have a television but the games playing that day. Which always makes me happy because girls like sports too:) they also do a great job for an affordable price. However because word has gotten out about how fab this place is, it's generally really busy, so call first to see when they can get you in. read more

I've been to this location on 2 separate occasions and the ladies are so sweet and do a wonderful job. You definitely need to make an appointment prior because they are constantly busy. Their prices are great especially for the Seattle area. Finding parking is pretty busy since they have a parking garage on the side of the building. This place is terrible. Customer service is horrific. I looked at all the reviews on here and was really excited to call and make an appointment to get a full set. I've never had my nails done with acrylic before. Upon calling the lady on the phone flat out said what do you want. I asked her if I could make an appointment. She said what do want done? I told her I want a full set. She said nope sorry we don't take new clients. Wtf? What does that even mean you don't take new clients? Not sure what kind of business says they don't take new clients. Always Great! Ann is the best!!! I even tried other places when she was on maternity leave - dumb!!! Even my "back up girl", Mai, is way better than anyone else out there. Everyone is always so friendly & professional & the prices are good!! I like to have my nails done fast (& I have acrylic, not always so fast) - in & out but when getting my toes done, I like to take my time & relax. They are always accommodating & KNOW this & schedule that extra time in for me to chill. The reviews were right! This place is sooo good! Its a bit of a commute for me, but just happened to be on my way to see a client in the area. Figured it was worth the stop with all their awesome reviews. Making an appt is slightly awkward but it worked out. I dont get my nails done often, so if Im going to pay for a manicure I want to get something really well done. My neighborhood spa does an okay job, but never could figure out how to do a half-moon design. In fact, most nail techs look quite puzzled when I show them this very simple design. This is somewhat frustrating since it is probably the earliest, most classic nail design. Well these folks "nailed" it and got it perfect without hesitation. The place is clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. Best part? Instead of awkward small talk the tv was airing some amazingly hilarious ninja warrior reality show. Everyone in the salon was into it. The ladies were super gracious when i had to run to the cash machine. I tried to leave my ID as collateral but they were very trusting. Manicure was a steal at $20 so i left a good tip. Its a bit out of the way of my normal commute but i will happily make the trip again. I'm bummed. The first time I went here, everyone was so nice, the women working took a ton of care giving me the best shellac I've had and I had a 5 star experience. I was excited to go back and get a mani from them when it was time for the shellac to come off. I sat down, soaked my nails and they removed the shellac, letting me know someone would be with me in "2 minutes." 15 minutes goes by, and I'm kind of annoyed. I get that they want to get a lot of people in to provide lots of service, but I would have rather just made an appt the next day instead of waiting around with my hand dried out from the acetone they were soaking in. I'm starting to look at the clock and finally one of the women comes over to do my nails. She was polite, no small talk which was fine with me after a long work day of being on the phone. She started to work on my cuticles and prep my nails and there was just a...lack of care. It just seemed like she didn't want to be there (which, I get it, I don't either near the end of the day), but it just seemed like she was going as fast as possible to get this done. When she was finishing up, I saw that there was a mark on one nail that didn't get covered with polish, but she got up so quick as soon as she got that last bit of top coat on that I didn't have time to say anything. I alerted one of the other women (the owner I think, super nice lady) and she came over, letting me know that "it looks like you touched the fan with your hand). I get that but no, I didn't, and I don't really see why she said that. Bottom line is that it needed to be fixed... Anyway, she fixed it and just the whole time I felt like I was a nuisance being there and didn't feel like much of a valued customer. It's too bad, having such an awesome first experience and then this. I'd like to give the salon another try and change my review if it's better the next time, but this just wasn't that great. My acrylics tend to rise, especially on my middle and ring fingers, but not with the work done here. I definitely recommend making an appointment since they can become pretty busy. read more

I guess that you get what you pay for. I have never given a business a 1-star before but this is not what I expected after the reviews I read on Yelp. I called ahead to make an appointment but I guess that this is strictly a walk-in salon because I was told to sit and wait cramped in with the others until they were ready. 25 minutes later I was in the chair with my feet in tepid water soaking for only a couple of minutes before they went to work with the same tools that they had used on the last customer. I cringed when I realized that the tub I was soaking in had not been cleaned either.The quality of the polish selection was not great either, only toxic brands. The technician barely spoke english but was very sweet, therefore the one star! I left with a pretty miserable pedicure and bought nail polish remover on the way home. I really wanted to love this place after reading all of the amazing reviews. I just moved up to Seattle and desperately needed a new nail place. I made an appointment for a Thursday afternoon at 5pm and boy was it busy - good first sign, right?. We picked our colors and were on our way to soak in the pedicure chairs. Everyone was friendly and my pedi was great. Then, I was moved to do my gel mani and thats kind of where things went wrong. While also super friendly, I got two cuts and started bleeding. She pretty much pretended it didn't happen and wiped all my fingers with alcohol which then just made it more noticeable and burned even more. The color was ok, not perfect but not horrible either. But, with 2 of my fingers still bleeding, we were just still ignoring it as it bled into my polish. My mom was visiting me so I had taken her with me. When we left she also told me that she had gotten 1 cut on her finger as well. I don't think I'll be back for a second try with both of us getting cut. read more

The girl who I haven't had before cut my toenails way, way too short. and down the sides. Big toenail on each foot is totally different, looks terrible. Very worried i'm going to get an ingrown toenail on my left big toe, it's already starting to hurt. Guys: Make sure you demand they don't cut down too deep. Bloody hell. read more

This is one of the better nail salons I've been to for sure. For $30, you get a mani and pedi. They have a great selection of colors and in addition to the usual OPI and China Glaze, they also have Butter London and even a little Chanel! The ladies here are very nice and took good care of my friend and I. They didn't rush us out of the nail drying salon, they let my friend sit with me at the drying area despite him not needing to get anything dried and they're really friendly. Unfortunately, one of my nails chipped within the day...ugh why are my nails so dry?! However, my pedicure didn't chip until one small chip 3 weeks in. So far, this is the only chip. Between the color choices, service and prices I would come again. -1 star for chip on first day. read more

I've lived on Queen Anne for 7 years, and I've been going to #1 Pro Nails since they opened. I'll occasionally try one of the other slightly cheaper (by $1 or $2) places down the street (Queen Anne is a mecca for nail salons and Thai restaurants, for some reason) - but I am always disappointed, and always come back. Anne remembers who I am when I call to make an appointment (even if it's been months) and always makes time for me in the schedule. Her staff is incredibly friendly and professional, and they do a wonderful job. I'm not sure what happened to the reviewer who said her pedicure only lasted 3 days - mine usally last 3-4 weeks, which is one of the main reasons I keep coming back. Also, for those of you concerned about the color selection, Anne will order colors for you if you go in and don't find what you want (and you know the name of the color.) The salon is very clean and comfortable and I never feel rushed through the pedicure, like at some of the 'cheap' places. True story - I went in frequently with a friend of mine for about a year (maybe once a month) and they always started her pedicure before mine - I commented once that it must be because I take so long to choose my color, and Anne said "No, it's because we know her cuticles take longer than yours." We were amazed that they remembered not only our names, but our feet. I am completely loyal to this place, and highly recommend it. read more

I am not typically a mani/pedi type of person. I have weak, crummy nails so I decided to try acrylics for a friend's wedding in portland. I had no concept of what a good nail set looked like, so I left thinking I had an okay acrylic set. Weeks later, I finally succumbed to the need to get them filled or removed. I found #1 pro nails on yelp, so I drove over and easily found parking in the garage lot (the main drawing factor of this nail salon in particular). I walked in and at that point had decided I just wanted them removed. I was quickly given a seat and started a soak. My nail technician, who I later found out was the owner, asked me where I got my nails done. I told her and asked her if they did a good job. She gave me enough of a response to know that I got played with and ended up with a bad nail job. She took on the personal responsibility of undoing the damage done, meticulously cutting and sanding away at the thick nail gel. She was so gracious and friendly regarding the whole situation. The whole process, including receiving a new polish to cover the damage, took one hour. When it came time to pay, she told me "$20." I thought I might have heard her wrong, but when the bill came I realized I heard correctly. I slapped on a tip that I realize in retrospect was not hefty enough. I greatly respect an owner who is honest and really cares about her customers. So hopefully this review will encourage you to go out and support this business. read more

It was well worth the wait I got the best shellac manicure I've ever had! My nail artist was very talented and quick, I've never had such a clean shellac without a single flaw.
