I do not recommend receiving services from this nail salon. I thought it was good and charged a fair price, but the technicians use cheese graters to exfoliate feet. If this is not illegal, it is definitely an unhealthy practice. I asked the pedicurist to use a pumice instead, but she continued with the grater, and used a pumice in a later step. Reflecting, I should have insisted that she not use a grater at all. Immediately after disregarding my request, the technician actually hurt her finger with the grater. This is neither a safe practice for the client nor the technician. In addition, the tub was not covered with a plastic liner and the manicurist did not use latex gloves. read more

Every once in a great while I get a wild hair and I decide that I want Acrylic Nails. It's safe to say I've been to a few nail salons and with my previous experience speaking: I really liked #1 Pro. When I was there my nail tech was very gentle and friendly. During my visit there was another woman customer over yonder who was having a pedicure done. If I had to deal with her as a customer I would have probably lost my patience, and thrown her out unfinished. However the woman that was tending to her kept her composure. The witchola finally left in a better mood than she came in with. I have a great deal of respect for people who are able to handle difficult customers. My nails came out beautifully, I liked them so much I splurged for a French Pedicure too (with equally fabulous results). If I had enough patience and money to keep my nails properly maintained I would make #1 my regular shop. Plus they have their own parking lot which is a definite bonus when you've just gotten a pedicure and you're waddling about with foam flip-flops. read more

This place is amazing. Stumbled upon it walking around with a friend on Easter after brunch at Toulouse Petit when we spontaneously decided to get manicures. I'm a HORRIBLE nail biter so I feel left out when friends want manis, but she suggested I try acrylics, and I thought this could be my chance to have the pretty nails my friends have. For $27, I get durable, quality acrylics that look 100% natural. They are also amazing at remembering what I get so I don't need to specify the length or cut I want anymore. Just pick a color (or three), they remember the rest and I'm out in a half hour. Anne is super nice and their acrylic girl, Mai, is so talented. I'm sure the other girls are just as sweet and great. Decided to go after so many great reviews off of this site. Maybe it was the time of day, maybe it was the day of the week, but it just didn't have anything unique about it. The nail salon may have been full of women waiting to do your pedi, but there wasn't any conversation between the customers and sales people. It was very uncomfortable in that sense. The only conversation going on was between the sales people and themselves, and the occasional friend that would walk through the door to speak with one of the sales people. I choose nail salons based on their customer service, hygiene and, of course, their nail art. The flowers that were drawn on my toe were sub-par and smudged. I was not impressed. It was an okay place, but nothing as spectacular as these reviews make it out to be. read more

I have been looking for a new nail salon that is in my price range for a while now and I am so glad I found this place! The pedi's are $20 and mani/pedi's are $30. This past Saturday on a whim I decided I need a pedicure and after reading Yelp reviews, I decided on this salon. I called ahead and they were able to fit in me in about a hour and a half later. Boy am I glad I called ahead! When I went in they were PACKED! The staff was all incredibly friendly and seemed to know a large number of the customers who came in. The woman who preformed my pedicure (I didn't catch her name) did a wonderful job and I never felt rushed to get out of the chair once my pedicure was done. Also, I didn't get a hot towel at the end of my gel manicure. So those are the reasons why I took a star off. I was feeling pretty homesick the day before I flew home and figured a manicure would lighten my spirit. I asked a friend to suggest a nail salon and she told me about Pro Nails on Roy St, mainly for the free parking. The parking garage is located behind the salon, with an entry way on Roy St. It's a little small, but if you can find a spot without a sign, you're golden. On a Monday around 2pm, I had a small wait of about 10 minutes, but they sat me at one of the stations and I watched TV until a girl was ready. I chose one of my favorites; OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark. It's been 6 days since my manicure and I have yet to see a chip. This is absolutely hands down one of the best manicures I have ever got. A mani here will go chip-free for at least a week, and sometimes two weeks (if I'm diligent with my top coat). Pedis last at least a month. I recently skipped my regular appointment here and got a mani/pedi done in LA for a wedding. I was on vacation, no dish-washing or any kind of serious work on my dainty hands. 48 hours. That's how long before my top coat PEELED AWAY from my color. Only then did I realize that my normal nail salon rocks. $30 for a mani/pedi with really nice employees that do a fabulous job (my regular appt is with Mai) and great massage chairs that really massage the kinks out of my back while my toes and fingers get gussied up. This place is so awesome that my boyfriend comes willingly to get his done (sans polish) and pouts if I don't invite him along. As far as cleanliness complaints go, not really sure what that's about. I've been going here about over 2 years and everything gets wiped down after each customer and the entire place gets thoroughly vacuumed every night. How do I know this? I got the Shellac nails and I really liked how the nail technician took her time filing my nails and cleaning my cuticles. They do not rush the process at all! They have a very good selection of Shellac nail polishes, and they let you use different colors for the first coat and the second coat, which gives your nail color more of a dimension. I think my shellac manicure was $25 or $30, which really isn't bad for a manicure that will last 2-3 weeks w/o chipping! Another great thing about Number One Pro Nails is that they have a free parking garage, so you don't have to worry about finding street parking. I've never had a gel manicure before and the ladies helping me answered all my questions and even mixed me a custom color after telling them what I was looking for. Just had a lovely experience here. Everyone was sweet and efficient. (To be fair, I wasn't looking for chat, so it was just fine that the woman who did my pedicure wasn't trying to engage me in conversation.) And the massage chair was nifty. By far my favorite nail place for a quick and quality mani or pedi. I am constantly on the go and don't have time or the $$ for the spas. The ladies here are all very friendly, they work you in whenever they can, and the price is unbeatable. They are also very accommodating, so if you don't like the color or how something turned out, SAY SOMETHING! They will change the color or make adjustments. Not a big deal, but there isn't a waiting area with seats...have to sit by the nail dryer. Only one younger employee has been conversational....the rest I've been lucky to get a total of 10 words for the whole visit. If you're in a crunch, this place will do. Love this place!! I appreciate their sanitation with covid. Have you wash your hands when you enter before you touch your polish. Really gave care on my pedi and manicure every time I've been there. I really appreciate a place that manicure the cuticles really well and uses the cheese grater thing on my feet. 3 times now haven't been disappointed. Worth the price. This place is bustling with activity, but I've managed to walk in at all weird times and get a slot. The salon is clean! And they use fresh tools! The young men at the front are very polite, and it's clear that everybody respects and listens to the woman in charge. She's aware of everything happening--including when a client was running out of time on her meter but was in the middle of a mani! She offered to put change in the meter for her. There are regulars and it reminds me of a small neighborhood coffee shop, but with nails. My pedicures last a very long time. I get the Gelish manicures and my nails have never been healthier. I broke up with my previous nail salon after several years when the owner stopped doing my nails and passed me off to another girl when I ditched acrylic for au natural. I had been to Pro Nails many moons ago so thought I'd try again. I haven't looked back. I am in and out quickly since most times I have my mani-pedi at once. I am all about time, but not about compromise in quality. I have been happy with the services, get great hand massages, never been cut and am not sore the next day. The crew at #1 Pro have really cornered the market on a high quality, good value nail salon. The shop is essentially by appointment only, and you can tell why as soon as you arrive. You are never ignored or told to wait and you are welcomed warmly. I find sometimes at affordable nail salons that the staff will often talk to each other a lot but not engage the patrons, but that is just not the case here. Everyone is so nice and so happy, which is really a breath of fresh air after a long day at work. They have a great selection of shellac and regular polishes, predominantly OPI, and the salon is clean and well-maintained. If you book for mani/pedi (as I often do) they will start both your toes and your hands at once so that you are out of there faster - so efficient and thoughtful. My only complaint is that sometimes I can't get an appointment same day as this place is so popular. read more
