We had such a great experience at Polish Boutique Spa! My daughter is usually very picky when it comes to her nails but they exceeded expectations. The staff was patient, detail-oriented, and really took their time to make sure everything was just right. They listened to exactly what she wanted. The final result was beautiful, creative, and high quality--she absolutely loved her nails designs and couldn't stop looking at her nails. It's not easy to impress her, so that says a lot. I was able to get in here last minute with a gel x removal appointment. They gave me a call about 15 mins before my appointment to let me know I can come in sooner which was appreciated. I've walked by this place many times and was surprised how big the place was, albeit cramped. The technician who did my removal was friendly, but drilled areas of my nail bed too deep and left layers of gel on several of my fingernails. My nails now feel so brittle, unhealthy, and uneven. It will probably take a month for my nails to grow back healthy. I wish I was able to communicate during my appointment my concerns, but after feeling the burn of the drill several times, I just wanted to leave as soon as I could. The cost for the removal was $15 which was cheap compared to a few shops nearby. read more

I came to Polished Boutique Spa on a friend's recommendation for a mani-pedi, but my experience was pretty mixed. The vibe inside felt a little off - cluttered carts, piles of polish and tools everywhere, and not the most polished (pun intended) environment. It might've been clean, but it didn't feel clean. I was seated at a pedicure station and told my manicure would happen at the same time - no problem there. What was odd, though, was the male technician assigned to my manicure. He had been sitting at another station watching a video on his phone, feet up on the armrest, which didn't exactly scream professionalism. When he started my nails, they placed an old rough throw pillow on my lap to prop up my hands. The manicure itself was rough - my cuticles definitely felt it - but to his credit, the polish lasted over a month, so I guess the results speak for themselves. The pedicure was solid and unremarkable, which in this case is a good thing. All in all, I probably wouldn't return. There are just too many other spots that offer the same services with a little more care and polish. read more

Stumbled across this spot when looking for somewhere close to work. After scanning a few other nearby places all at $55+ for a shellac manicure, I nearly ran here seeing the $40 price tag. I walked in and received the friendliest hello (from who I later learned was Kim, I'm not sure if she's the owner) asking what service I would like. While I wasn't in a rush I was curious the wait time as it seemed pretty busy. I was shocked when Kim said, I can start you right now. She offered me water, tea, or coffee guided me to my seat and left a basket with so many choices I never thought I'd decide. I settled on a deep red. Ana was my actual nail technician, I've never had some whip through my nails with precision like Ana did! She was so kind and made sure everything was to my liking. I almost forgot, between the nail trim and start of polish application she applied SUNSCREEN(!!) to the top of hands. To protect it from the whatever that machine is called, that probably leads to cancer. Amazing, never once have I seen that. After the manicure Ana started with the hand and neck massage. It last only a minute or two. But forget about the nails. I'd come back just for this. Pressure on point. Pressure points hit exactly where they needed it most. I could've fallen asleep. $10 gets you a 10 minute add on full hand and neck massage, I will be doing that next time. Every person that was in this salon was a regular, they knew them by name. Ladies and gentlemen I think I may have found a hidden gem. I also saw a decent amount of pay to park street parking, mid week around 2pm. read more

We came in for manicures and pedicures for a friend's birthday and it was easy to get 4 of us scheduled at once. Everyone is friendly, the staff is great with suggestions, and the service is quick. I liked that they were able to recreate some fun designs based on photo inspiration and that they were able to neatly shape short nails. I have been going to Polished for years, but it's time for me to find a new salon. I went in twice last month, first for a gel removal and gel mani, and the second time just for a removal. My nails are now permanently wrecked. When I first started going to Polished, they would buff the top layer of the gel, soak it in acetone, and then gently scrape the softened gel off the nail. This occasionally left a gouge in the nail, but most often left it intact and reasonably strong. Their new method is to take a motorized buffer and grind it all off. Most recently, my tech combined the two, softening the gel first and then going at my nail with the grinder. This left my nail extremely thin, soft, and weak with visible gouges that even show through layers of polish. My nail beds have been tender to the touch for two weeks since that second removal, and my nails break the second they grow past the quick. I will have to wait for my nails to entirely grow out before they will regain their strength. It will be months before I'll have nails long and strong enough to even peel an orange. On top of this, the gel that I picked out was a bright barbie pink sparkle. It went on bright pink (sort of like you can see at the tips) and over the next two weeks slowly faded to coral, then orange, then yellow. I'm not sure what happened with that, but it certainly wasn't advertised to me as a color changing gel. (I had one finger that was treated with dip powder for a breakage, and that one held its original color a lot longer, until the break finally gave up again). I personally didn't mind the new color spectrum, but buyer beware if you expect to keep the color you asked for. read more

Very friendly, accommodating, careful and kind. They do ACTUAL foot massages (and also offer the hot stones kind, which I declined) for regular pedicures and are NOT expensive (right now, $38). The staff remembered me after only one visit and I asked for the same technician (Lynn) even though her English is difficult for me to understand some times because she is very attentive and earnest about remembering my peculiarities and requests. The massage chairs work well and even get close enough for me (I'm very short; under 5') for my feet to get serviced. It's not too loud (quiet, inoffensive music in the background), not very smelly (I go early so it's not crowded), and extremely conveniently located (right on the 11 bus line; stop right outside their shop) on Capitol Hill. They also have a nice array of colors for choosing my toenails' polish each time I come. Highly recommended. read more

This was my third time here and definitely my last time. I thought to give a place three shots is fair to evaluate their work. They rush, even when it is not busy! They don't do a good job with the manicure, and even if you object, they continue, it is not relaxing at all more stressful if anything . A particular incident that bothered me the most was the manicurist sprayed acetone on my hands and, instead of drying them with a towel, added hand cream on top!! I asked for a French tip on Sunday (3 days ago) and paid $90. You be the judge and let me know if this is acceptable. So sad that you can't request a refund for terrible service. read more

Overall 3.5 stars. Nice salon environment, excellent color selection, and hot stone massage is a nice touch. Owner Kim does a great job recommending color selections based on what you're looking for. My shellac mani was amazing - lasted a solid 3 weeks and they beautifully shaped my nails which were in super rough shape. My regular pedi was not so much - very blunt nails which resulted in a visible chip the same week I got my pedi, which is super rare for any good pedicures. Fairly mediocre massage, unfortunately. Pricing is on the higher end, so while I would give them another try, was disappointed by the pedi quality I received at these prices. read more

Usually I'm a one and done but the salon manager really wanted to make this right for me and I truly appreciate people who are humble and appreciate constructive feedback to try and correct a situation instead of becoming defensive about it. This was probably one of the worst salon experiences I've had. I do not understand why this place has good reviews. Maybe they treat customers differently? My manicure and pedicure came out uneven and my shellac manicure came out lumpy. My nails looked out grown when I left the salon. The blonde lady, whom I can only presume was in charge because she was bossing everyone around and answering the phone, was extremely rude. She rushed me to pick a color and had an attitude, as if I was bothering her by giving her salon a shot. Her customer service was greatly lacking to say the least. Not to mention this place is overpriced. There are salons in Ballard that will do a better job for less. The only reason I gave this place a try was because I had just moved to the neighborhood. Now I know a trip to ballard is worth it. I do not recommend and I will not be back. read more

I don't get my nails done super often, but when I do this is where I go! I've always gotten great service for a fair price. I've previously gone for acrylics but I'm a recently recovered nail-biter so my husband booked me an appointment for my birthday this past weekend and it ended up being my best visit yet! As soon as I sat down the two women helping me had me so relaxed that I forgot to ask their names, which I deeply regret. I got an exceptional calf and foot massage with my pedicure and a great polish job that was undisturbed by mile long walk home in my sneakers. I picked a color outside my usual selection, which both earned compliments from the front desk AND required 3+ coats from my nail tech to get total coverage. She paid attention to detail and continued refining between steps like I've never seen but worked with quick precise movements. My nails ended up ended up looking incredible in what felt like no time at all. She rubbed my back while my last layers of gel cured and it was incredible! My husband was stoked that it cost half what he had budgeted so I will be back sooner rather than later this time around! TLDR; the staff is welcoming, the salon is super cute, and every tech I've worked with has delivered exactly the nails I wanted (and often more than!) read more
