Nunan's is a must stop. We arrived early on a night that weather was iffy to ensure that we got a seat inside. In early June, we were able to get a table for 5 without any fuss. Even on our way out, the place still had plenty of seating. We ordered lobster and the members of our party that do not eat lobster ordered steak. The lobster was great. I have been told on more than one occasion that I need to stop at Nunan's but last time we were in the area was during COVID. Cash only !

LOVE THIS PLACE! We had lobster rolls our first day in Kennebunkport and the two-lobster special on our last night -- it was fantastic! The service was wonderful and friendly and the ambiance had the feeling of an old-fashioned lobster shack. We also had the clam chowder, which was the best I've ever had! Very thick, rich, and a lot of clam. Highly recommend!

Great lobsters, friendly staff, cool nautical decor, casual atmosphere. I loved how the waitress could answer all my questions about lobster!

Found this place via a review from places to eat in Maine. Boy they were right on with this place. Early June I think is still slow season so getting a table was no issue. Our server was outstanding! Got the lobster roll and clam chowder. Was my husband first lobster roll. I don't think it will be his last. Large pieces of lobster just delicious. Needed to try dessert as well. Blueberry pie a la mode. Chose the pie since our server said it was homemade. It did not disappoint.

Fun - old fashion feel to the place - which hasn't changed all that much from our last visit - over 20 years ago! (obviously we aren't from the area otherwise...) There are outdoor picnic tables (new) and the pretty much the same indoor area. The ceilings are decorated with all kinds of nautical items and walls with newspaper articles from over the years. The clientele seem to be 75 % locals and the others tourists. We came for whole lobster for the most part and we were not disappointed in the 1.5 lb ones we received which were $$$ less than other places. Like before they came with a bag of potato chips, a roll and some pickles! For a whopping $1.50 you could splurge for a baked potato. One of our group had the Lobster Salad and was very satisfied with her choice. Off the beaten path but worth the drive. The do have wine and canned beer. Cash only ! Worth the short drive out of Kennebunkport.

Nunan's is a classic Maine lobster spot with a quintessential New England sea shack vibe. No frills here, just fresh lobster. Whole lobsters come pre-cracked to save you some of the labor and mess. Lobster rolls can come Maine-style or, if you're a CT girl like me, you can cheat and order a plain lobster roll with a side of hot butter. Served on a toasted hot dog bun the way it's meant to be! Clam chowder was flavorful and not too thick. Service is friendly, but make note they are cash only. ATM on property, indoor and outdoor seating options.

    Go inside. It's worth it.

If you want lobster, this place is the real deal. Get away from town a bit for the best clam chowder I have ever had! You have to get the lobster. It's time to get messy. You might wait a bit because they are so busy. Those ladies were working their tails off. There was a lot to look at. The inside is like a capsized boat with every spot fill with fun things to look at.

This spot is just a straight up tourist trap. It was recommended to us as the best spot for lobster but I've had better (and cheaper) lobster at chain steakhouses in the middle of the country. The lobster was mediocre, not sweet, and just tasted of water. It is served with the worst stale roll, 2 very sad looking pickle slices, and a bag of Lay's. The blueberry pie was alright but it wasn't even served warm. It was just so lackluster and unmemorable. We had much better lobster meals at others spots that this one is a definite skip. Even a local we spoke to nearby said she didn't care for it. Our server was rude. (There was one server who seemed very nice and engaging but sadly she wasn't assigned to our table.) Also beware there is NO A/C and on hot summer days, it's incredibly muggy. They are also cash only, though there is an ATM on site.

Reservations recommended we were seated at a beautiful table for two right near the bar and started off with a Pinot noir and a cabernet. Both wines were delightful. For appetizers we had the braised lamb crepe and the octopus... Both dishes were delicious, presented well with sauces to die for. Followed by the pasta dish and the duck. These were the best dinners of the year for us. The blending of flavors were fantastic and it was augmented by the owner coming over and talking to us about how the food was prepared. I won't bore you with all the details but the octopus is slow boiled for 5 hours.. complete with wine. Corks it was tender and delicious with the Mediterranean flair. We go out to eat our fair share from high end to diners anywhere. The food is well prepared and delicious... This was the top for the year! From the service to the presentation to the wine to the ambiance, everything is top notch here. I will provide a warning. You will drop a pretty penny if you partake in all the courses, but we thought it was well worth it. Thank you to the staff and ownership. We enjoyed our evening.. a true date night.

So, we finally got to try the chef's table, or "Chef's Whim" as it's officially titled. Eight…read morecourses. In addition to the food, we added the suggested alcohol pairings. I say alcohol because it wasn't all wine but ... since it's a bit of a surprise in terms of what actually appears I'll just leave it at that. However, as to the food ... I'll give a taste, a flavor, a wisp of a whisper of the full culinary adventure. For complete details, see your local sous chef! Here's what we had. In the middle of my photo collage, a blood sausage slider with fennel/jalapeño sauce on toasted brioche bun. Then clockwise from top left - cornbread with maple glaze in a Barbie sized personal cast iron skillet; beet salad with goat cheese half spheres; a dessert tray of black apple cake with hay ice cream (yes, seriously), chamomile pot de creme and a duck fat beignet; an assortment of ice creams - fenugreek, fennel/maitake mushroom/burnt hazelnut (all tasted fabulous and in each you could taste the listed flavors); entree of duck and wild mushroom tart; white bean soup and finally a pasta dish of ravioli with two fillings. Just a note on what it would take to make it yourself. See that hexagonal white blob on the bottom row, middle pic? That's a potato foam. Forgive me for not recalling the full procedure but the prep is roughly 7 hours long. First, the cut potatoes are cooked in a sous vide for 2 hours so that no moisture is added to them. Then a succession of ricing, smoking, drying, undrying, mashing, placing in a foam machine that looked like a whipped cream dispenser and boom - a tiny dollop of potato. It tasted great. But man - that's a lot of effort for a mouthful of potato. I don't think I'll be trying it at home. Over two hours of eating and chatting. I brought a couple of my restaurant-based cartoons as my personal thanks for the meal and was shocked that Justin, their sommelier, had done a cartoon of his own ahead of time for me! Just stick to wine, Justin - I don't need any MORE competition with my magazine editors ... With Dylan ably providing the primary chef duties and Amaya and Justin handling the booze, the meal was a smashing success. The food pairings were masterfully chosen and timing of the dishes meant we were always primed for the next one. Although the succession of what I'd call dessert dishes made me start to feel like a Hobbit enjoying dessert, second dessert and then post seconds. As Anton Ego said in Ratatouille (and they have a cute Reme rat under glass on a shelf) "I shall be returning, hungry for more."

Some shopping and a few bits along the way. We weren't completely full for dinner but wanted the party to go on. I snagged a reservation at Hurricane and we were seated shortly after getting a round of drinks from the bar. My wife had her go to cocktail "A slightly Dirty Martini" while I opted for the citrusy Hemingway. Once seated we poured over the menu and couldn't make up our minds but our server was awesome. We weren't rushed and each passing visit continued the conversation with her about our trip, our day, our experience, and Kennebunkport content in general. At long last we simply decided to get two rounds of fresh oysters that were to absolutely die for as our meal. The snacking had taken its toll or my wife would have annihilated a 2 lb Maine Lobster on her own. I had some local Maine craft beers to go with the light fare and had to order the "Affogato" for desert. It simply called my name. The Hurricane offered a great atmosphere that was still somewhat hopping shortly before the clock suggested it was closing time. As we exited and walked over to our hotel for the last night before heading home, we found the usually crowded streets of the sea town barren and that offered some time for reflection on a great evening that was had by all.

Our waitress Seanna was the best waitress I've experienced in a very long time. I'm a NYer and my dining experience bar is high. Well she nailed it.
