Maggie sells the cicada bridal line, which is very much my style, as well as a few of her own creations and can make just about anything you can dream up. I fell in love with her creations. She uses little touches that make each dress unique - vintage flower pieces, beautiful sashes, etc. I found a dress I LOVE LOVE. I just wasn't sure I could bring myself to spend ~$1500 on a dress I will wear once so I needed to sleep on it. Maggie was super awesome about the whole thing, let me try everything on, over and over. Just a note that Maggie's studio is not a box store. No fancy bling, no ladies in waiting. If you want someone who will hold the dress while you step into it and let you stand in it under a fancy chandelier, this is not the place. That said, I have been to the fancy places (Pronovias), and they charge the same prices (or more) for dresses made from scratchy synthetic material. Maggie is a self identified "fabric snob," and everything she sold was top quality, many, if not all, in silk.

Tori was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful in assisting me to find the most beautiful gown for my special day. Unfortunately, my excitement was short-lived after having to deal with the tailor, Natalya, who completely ruined my $3,000 dress. I was introduced to Natalya through the bridal shop and was told that she did amazing work, which unfortunately was not true in my case. I informed Natalya that my wedding was three weeks away, and she repeatedly said--rather rudely--that it would be a lot of work and that she would need to charge me an additional $1,000 if I wanted it completed in time. I agreed and paid the extra amount, appreciative that she was willing to fit me in with such short notice. However, when I arrived to pick up my dress two days before my wedding, Natalya told me she had been sick and was unable to hem the dress. I was shocked and frustrated--why not tell me sooner so I could find another tailor? When I asked for a refund, she then said she would finish it and promised it would be ready the day before my wedding. Because I live two hours away, I had to make two unnecessary trips. To make matters worse, she removed the original pads from the dress and loosely stitched them back in place, which made the bodice look unflattering and made me appear heavier than I am. I am extremely disappointed and heartbroken that I couldn't fully enjoy my wedding day because my dress was not what it should have been. I even had to pay my photographer extra to edit the flaws out of my pictures and eventually ended up buying another dress and redoing my photoshoot, which caused even more unnecessary stress and expense. I'm sharing this experience so other brides can avoid the same disappointment. If you need alterations, please do your research and read reviews carefully--it can save you from a lot of stress and heartbreak on one of the most important days of your life.

I promise I wasn't asking for much. I asked for the straps to be replaced with lace. In 3 sessions this was not completed. They were finally replaced by the fourth time. I repeatedly asked for my dress to be shortened and the alterations team kept saying that they didn't want to as "My shoes would show". I stated that is actually what I wanted. I also had flats for the reception that required the dress to be shorter as well. The alterations team suggested that I just get a different pair of shoes then. For my final session the lace was finally replaced for the straps. My dress However was shortened by a half an inch if not less. I had asked for at least two inches off at the previous session. At his point I did not have time to come in for another session as my wedding was 10 days away. I took it as is and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, with the dress being too long I had many issues throughout my wedding. My dress kept getting stepped on even when bustled up. Several of the buttons on the bustle broke as a result and I had half my train out on the floor. All of the beads at the bottom were stepped on and broken. I had to carry my dress for most of the night. My dress also slipped under my shoes and I took a VERY hard fall. I bruised my elbow and my hip badly. The owner was apologetic but was covering for the team for the most part. Bottom line. Unless your dress is good as is when you buy it here, go ANYWHERE else for your alterations.
