This place is a hit and miss. The first time we got it, it was great. The last two times, not so much. After standing there for about 10 mins waitibg to order, we were finally acknowledged. I did notice a sign that said something to the effect of please excuse the long wait as we make your order to be fresh and delicious. Nice try but not so much. After placing our order for a cheese steak sandwich and a simple cheeseburger with a side of onion rings, i told the waitress we would be right out on the patio as the inside was quite small and we didnt want to wait the long wait standing 4" from someone while they ate. After 20 minutes, and seeing everyone that came in after already eating, my boyfriend went in to see about our order. Surprisingly, really, it was sitting on the counter behind the register. Never were we told it was ready, nor was it brought to us, obviously. So as it turns out, the burger was overcooked, cold and dry, the fries cold, the cheesesteak cold (might actually have been good if it were warm still) and the onion rings non-existent. We were back in Globe for a holiday event & heard good things about this place, so we found our way there between events. Clean shop, good atmosphere and friendly service. They were struggling a bit with the heater, so the girls behind the counter were cold, but we came from outside so it was perfect for us. Food was fresh and delicious, I suggest the AZ philly ... because the sandwich is great and it's a horrible shame that Philadelphia gets credit for anything positive. (Have you been?) The stringy melty cheese & green chiles were perfect in the environment of lighting the heater and rain clouds dropping outside the big picture windows. We stopped on the way home from Show Low by chance. We googled places near us and this place had a good rating on Yelp and we just went for it and I'm so glad we did! We were a little nervous walking in because it was a small little house, but seeing the comic books and super hero decor put us at ease immediately. My kids were in love with the free reading materials they offered and thought the decor was awesome. The staff was super friendly and welcoming and very accommodating for our group of 9. I ordered the Raising Arizona burger, my husband ordered the chicken tender meals and my kids each got the kids chicken tender meal. We also ordered an extra side of fries. The food came out hot and fresh pretty quickly. The fries were perfect, they had the best crunch and tasted homemade. My burger was huge! Biggest burger I've seen! It tasted delicious! First Off!!! Nurd Berger is legit!!! It's indeed more than a local spot it's a truly one of those gems. When you walk in your greeted with comics on the tables Star Wars on the wall (my fav) and at the register a sign that declares freshness. I eat here religiously so much that I got a gift card to this place and yes it didn't take long for me to use it! Burgers are always on point! This is one of those places that seems to get almost everything right, which makes it a difficult task for me to point out that one or two things that they mess up on. The location off a side street isn't a negative to me, although it seems most of their business would have to be as a destination that people drive to, and they have to know it exists before they decide to go. Even then it's not exactly two gigantic illuminated golden arches, in other words it would be easy to drive right by. But like I said, that's not a negative, they seem to be doing just fine even in this covid era. They have a limited menu that's primarily focused on burgers with a smattering of chicken and fish, primarily fried foods. Again, nothing to nitpick here other than if you were just driving by you might not get the punny name an know that berger means burger. Price? It's spot on, slightly higher than McD's but come on, there's no comparison. They don't go in much for have it your way though - the two listed styles are American way and their version of In 'n Out's animal style. This is a walkup place with a single multipurpose window facing the sidewalk and a very tiny gardenlike seating area which I assume is the also the front door of the owner's home. Charming and perfect as long as the weather is nice. The ambience reminds me amazingly of a 1950's style burger shack in a coastal California town, including a wonderful contemporary 2020 take on surf city music playing at just the right volume level. So what's my beef? (sorry) It's that horrendously tacky humungous banner hanging over most of the front of the place hawking that franchises are available. I could spend an hour extolling on why this place is the furthest thing I could think of as an ideal franchise candidate but the banner sign was enough of a turnoff that I almost turned around and walked away. If it was a review on burgers only we would give this place five stars. The issues that bring it down to four is wait staff and cleanliness. We sat on the patio this time because we brought our little dog with us, which we love to be able to do. There burgers are fantastic. They remind me of the ones my Aunt Ophelia use to fry up in her cast iron skillet!! As to the issue of cleanliness the garbage can put on the patio was overflowing , really overflowing! That bothered me because it was not that busy the waitress had some downtime , it must have been a " not my job"issue. Way too long of a wait! Waitress should have told us how long it would be BEFORE we placed our order. It didn't look all that busy when we arrived so we sat and waited for 45 minutes as we watched plates come out in single fashion, one by one even when there were multiple people at one table. They must have a single tiny grill where they can cook one entrée at a time because I can't imagine why it would take so long. Ambiance was okay. Decent vibe except for the frowning faces of hungry patrons. Burgers were good a few somewhat raw fries. All in all will give it one more try and will order ahead. read more

EDITED MY REVIEW - used to be two stars, upgrading to four because the owner was very sweet :) The gist of my former review: I asked for my burger to be cooked rare and my waitress looked quite confused before returning to me with a well-done burger. This displeased me greatly. So, I do believe that this miscommunication is troubling because I am a VERY particular person when it comes to meat. I do not begrudge the waitress for not having any clue what I was talking about because that's something the establishment should provide while training employees. However: as I was exiting the restaurant (having already posted my review) the owner came out and asked me if I was the angry rare burger review, I said yes. She explained that the shipment of their burgers prevents them from serving burgers rare per food safety codes. I appreciated the explanation, but I still maintain that this is something which should be made available to customers when they're ordering--if I had known this, I would have gone with chicken fingers or something. THAT SAID, it was a great burger all things considered and the sauces and toppings tasted fresh and quite good. As for the rest of the meal... meh. Fries were too crispy for me. Ranch was watery enough to take shots of. Playlist was... distastefully eclectic. So, long story short: good burger if you like them well done, and a very sweet owner. First let me say, the burgers were very good, so were the fries. Unfortunately I think we happened to go on a very off day. They were out of a lot of things on the menu: onion rings, ice cream, and few ingredients to complete a good burger. We felt very limited to what we could order. Being our first time there, when our food arrived we didn't immediately realize we got the wrong order, lol. We ended up with some bacon pretzel burger and we enjoyed them, but still. For the area, this place wasn't bad. For the money I spent the burger was a decent size. For waiting 20 minutes fries were cold and the bun was kind of stale. I could tell this because the bun top was cracking and flaking off. Don't get me wrong still a decent tasting burger, though. Now my wife's food had hot fries and an excellent Philly. Best food in Globe, best burgers in Arizona! While the boys and I were headed up to the White Mountains from the Valley I queried Yelp to find a place for an early dinner in Globe. Nerd Burger got great reviews and recommendations, so we decided to stop by and check it out. It's only a few hundred yards off of the main drag, you will know it when you see the mural of Batman and Princess Leia on the side. Parking is in a dirt lot next to it or street parking is available. We were excited to find a beautiful shaded and fenced-in patio that even had a dog dish for water for our two pups. We were greeted quickly and served drinks while we reviewed the menu. We decided on a cheeseburger, power nerd style (grilled onions and thousand island sauce) and the Marsten (amazing! 4-5 large strips of bacon, fried onion ring, sweet baby rays bbq sauce, and jalapeños!), both with fries (shoe string is the default - get the ranch, it's made there in-house and delicious!). Needless to say they were amazing. You want to move quickly through the burgers, because while the buns are good, the buns can only keep it together for about 10 minutes. (I think this is a common thing with great burgers, the meat and toppings sometimes are too much for the bread). The quarter-pound cheeseburger and half-pound Marston, both with fries, were plenty for me and my two sons, ages 13 and 10. The place has a great vibe, with lots of superhero and science fiction movie posters and paraphernalia throughout. My 10-year-old love the super Nintendo they had set up at the counter. read more

Went for a little day trip to Globe and had a great day, this place had been on my list for awhile so my bf and I decided to give it a try. So glad we did! First, I will say that this place has probably the best ranch we have ever had. The dining was closed due to Covid but the patio was open and it was a nice day with a nice breeze so we decided to eat there. My boyfriend got their Arizona burger and I tried the jalapeño bacon and it was delicious. A little pricey around $14 but you do get the most amazing perfectly cooked fries with it. I just got their normal cheeseburger but I did do it nurd burger way which is kind of similar to in and out. I'm not sure what they put in there meat, but it taste like heaven in your mouth and it was about the same as the Arizona burger because I did order it as a meal (fries and a drink). Really expected more, I expected more from this place. The burgers(as in the eat patty only) tasted like something you'd eat at a backyard bbq. They could steam the buns or warm them up somehow. Instead everything tasted liked straight from packaging. The fries are "made to order" yet fresh from a bag and overcooked is more like it.
