Great breakfast place we found on our first morning in Newport. The staff was over worked and service a little slow but with the kitchen right there you can tell they were doing the best they could. The food was excellent and lots of hot coffee you can refill your cup as many times as you like was cool. We come to Newport at least once a year and the Nye Beach Cafe is always a destination. Each of us ordered off the menu yesterday and had the specials today. Superb breakfasts both days!! It doesn't matter what you order: breakfast hash, scrambles, omelette, ricotta pancake, meatloaf with eggs. All superb! The ingredients are highest quality(organic eggs and grass fed beef). The food was good,the way we were treated the waitresses were rude and very lazy.my wife had to get her own coffee and place settings,and after hour are food arrived and then we were almost done the lady that cleans noticed we didn't have water,she should of been our waitress. read more

This place is a complete trainwreck. We went in for brunch at 1 pm. Ordered a breakfast burrito and a breakfast bowl. About 20 minutes later, I made an observation - every table was occupied, zero tables had food. I can honestly say I've never seen that before. There are maybe 12 tables inside and 3 outside. Then eventually I saw food go out to a big top outside. It took over 10 minutes to get all the food to that one table! A few others got fed. I started shooting glances at the waitress, she said "you're up next". 5 minutes later, we get asked what we ordered. 2 other tables got the same question. 5 minutes later, asked what we ordered my a different waitress. A table next to us who came in about 15 minutes after us gets there food. Finally about an hour later- food! Never go to this place. read more

We've been customers of this little place for a couple of years now. The breakfasts are simply the best on the coast (or any other place we've been). Had the crab cakes and eggs yesterday and they were simply the best. Fresh made (everything is and you should taste the jams) always cooked to perfection and a nice group of people too. read more

Such a great place for breakfast! We almost passed it because there wasn't a long line of people waiting, but I'm so glad we stopped! We both got the crab cake breakfast with a biscuit. Horrible experience. We waited over an hour for our food, and every other table that came after us got their breakfast first. It was crazy to watch it all happen before or eyes. Somehow I think they just forgot about our order and then acted like they didn't. It's way overpriced for what you get. 14 dollars for a scramble , which was like a half a cup serving . They didn't even use real parmasan cheese. I had high hopes for this place but left feeling disappointed. Also the gluten free pancake was not gluten free. Beware. I am having a bad reaction from it. They knew we were disappointed and that our food toook waaaaay to long and they didn't offer to do anything about it. Really sad . read more

We have to wait for over 20 minutes to get our water and waitress's attention. It was not busy when we were there, also one waitress pass by our table many times and didn't ask us anything at all like we're invisible. my husband got up and went to front counter to order food, finally one of waitress noticed. I love this place. My first time in Nye Beach and just walking by the place, I'm so glad I gave this place a try. Both waitress and big guy owner/chef are super friendly with great prompt service. I had the seafood omelette which chef specially made for me and it was fantastic ! It came with shrimp, crab meat and oyster. My wife had the rancho hueverta omelette which was also good. I'm so torn on giving this place 3 or 4 stars because on the one hand the food was really delicious -- I got the portobello panini and it was everything a panini should be; cheesy, buttery and perfectly toasted -- but on the other hand, the service left SO MUCH to be desired. I couldn't tell if our waitress was just bad with people or annoyed to be serving anyone an hour before they closed but she certainly wasn't friendly. Both my dad and I ordered meals that, 5 minutes later, we were told they were out of and my mom had to walk up to the counter to ask for the chowder she had ordered but was never delivered. Maybe the service is better when they aren't so anxious to close up? read more

I stopped on a random long drive on the Oregon Coast. For some reason, it just called out to me. I was VERY happy with my meal. The customer service was great. The waitress was really nice and on top of refills. The owner was in the restaurant speaking to everyothe. Which goes a long way. The food = amazing. I had the baked french toast. Amazingly friendly cafe, you really do feel like family here. Judy and her staff make you feel like you are sitting in your own kitchen with a bunch of friends and family. Stopped by for the first time for lunch on Saturday after a sunny walk on Nye Beach. Had excellent gluten free clam chowder (you wouldn't know it was gluten free) served along with a choice of their own bread or gluten free bread (both toasted with garlic). They also have a gluten free beer among the many other bottled beers available. Will add this place to our "must eat" lunch list whenever we're in Newport. read more

Hands down our favorite eatery in Nye Beach. The cafe is cozy and the staff so very pleasant. The food in predominantly locally and ethically sourced, the menu has a few standby items, but often mixes it up. This week my husband had the Farro bowl with a variety of tasty vegetables. Eggs are free range local, meat is grass fed beef, these folks are working hard to provide real food to the local market, and we love them for it. read more

Wish we hadn't gone, and we hate to say that. Went on a holiday, so it was expectedly busy, but we waited about 40 minutes for one sandwich. Water came with no ice and wasn't cold, which should have been an omen. Our hot pastrami sandwich was edible, but lackluster and served with a little bag of Lay's chips set on the table. For $11 a sandwich, please consider making your own chips. Actually, you should just make your own chips, period. read more

We had high expectations from the yelp reviews, and found the whole experience lacking. We ordered the fisherman's stew which didn't have a lot of seafood and the veggies were probably canned. The panini we ordered was HUGE and the fillings were good, but the homemade foccacia was not what I usually expect for that kind of bread. read more

Very unimpressed. The baked French toast was horrible. The whipped cream was forgotten and they never checked on us so couldn't ask for it to be remedied. If you're expecting French toast this is NOT. It's a weird lump of thick bread with no flavor. Our other meal was a omelette and that was pretty good but the hash browns left something to be desired. Was frustrated with their service also. Wasn't given ketchup and eventually had to go hunt some down since we could never get someone to help us. read more

Great for comfort food, this place offers a host of gluten free options. I have tried many items for both breakfast and lunch and am never disappointed by both quantity and quality. I especially like the grilled spicy tuna sandwich. It is so fresh and mouth-watering. Also, they often put a unique spin on something like a sauce or the type of soup of the day, which makes it all the more interesting. Only downside is the small dining area and short hours (open until 3) so it can get really packed at rush times. read more

Amazing breakfast spot in Newport! The staff was dog friendly and let us tie up our dog just outside where we could see her. We ordered a breakfast burrito, and a half order of baked French toast with marionberry jam and a side of eggs. This was perfect! The right amount of French toast without going overboard since it's so sweet, with some eggs to balance it out. Coffee was great too, and service was excellent. They were able to accommodate a dairy allergy, and had a good amount of vegetarian options for me as well. We will definitely be returning next time we are in Newport! read more

This review is for the fish tacos, black beans and rice meal. And coffee. Albacore tuna was the fish and I will never order this again and I do not recommend. The fish was actually bad, and the remainder was just bland aside the avocado which was good and ripe. All and all, rather awful. Two stars for the food. I asked the lovely waitress if the coffee was good (since they charge for refills), yes she responded. Not. It was watery, bland diner coffee. No desire for a refill. However, the staff is very nice and this is a sweet laid back place. I will repost when I try something else. read more
