Yesterday I had to spend the night in the ER to rule out some potential cardiac related critical issues. My physician and PA as well as my nurses were extremely busy as the place was packed, but everyone, from the great transport team, to the techs, worked as fast as they could with empathy, and the doc team, in particular, communicated with me in a detailed, straightforward way that was humane and respectful. After a tumultuous year of ER visits, procedures, and admissions the wait times in the ER, the once in a blue moon crabby and most likely exhausted nurse, and even a few egregious situations do not dim my gratitude for this hospital, both ER and inpatient. My hope is not to experience either for a very long time going forward, but I have tremendous appreciation and respect, especially for those who labor in the often overloaded ER and for the specialists who have saved my life if not literally, then by tackling my heart issues so I can have a great quality of existence.

VERY IMPORTANT. Please do not admit your loved one for psychiatric care here. DO NOT. If coming…read moreto the Emergency room: 1- they put them in a dismal room (only making them feel worse). Then it just gets worse from there. 2 - You have to wait 5-10 hrs for a ("more appropriate welcoming hospital room") to become available. 3 - our daughter was taken in a stretcher IN 14 degree temp (no coat allowed "for safety reasons") only a SHORT SLEEVED thin hospital top and a THIN sheet. 14 Degrees!! 4 - I noticed a previous patient was rolled out, wrapped in a comfy blanket and warm hat. 5 - If they think they are keeping patients with mental illness "safe" by making them FREEZE.... this is torture! 6 - Once she arrived to Gracie Square Hospital (horrible place) they took her out of the stretcher and made her stand there IN THE COLD, while they scratched their heads over not knowing how to carry the stretcher over the snow. They did not have the empathy to cover her up or at the very least, leave her in the ambulance while they figured things out. 7 - This happened last Tuesday afternoon. Its taken me a full week to write this review because I was focusing every breath on my daughter. 8 - THIS and Gracie Square's hospital only goal is to not get sued over a suicide. They rather torture a patient then provide adequate compassionate care that would in itself prevent a suicide. 9 - If your loved one is suffering a psychiatric emergency, Call 988, or simply bring them into the emergency room but OPT FOR OUTPATIENT CARE. DO NOT LET THEM ADMIT THEM. The hospital experience felt like a 1900's asylum. Come on NYC. get your act together. This is a sad disgrace.

Reviewing for the ColumbiaDoctors Midtown Dentistry team. As a Columbia student on the Columbia…read moreinsurance, I CANNOT recommend. Avoid at all costs if you are able to. Appointments can only be booked 5 months out in advance because of the sheer demand. My teeth are well-cleaned, but the quality of care is not worth the sheer unprofessionalism of canceled appointments and being incorrectly billed hundreds of dollars with no easy way to remedy the billing. 3/5 stars for good care from the staff at the front desk and good care from the hygienists and dentists. 0/5 stars for everything else. Here's a list of complaints from two years of care: - Canceled my appointment 1 week before (even though I booked 5 months ago), they said because of the Christmas tree lighting, and almost refused to rebook me for another 3 months (had to argue to rebook me for the same week). - Billed me incorrectly out-of-network because they messed up their Tax Identification Number with insurance. - Billed me incorrectly at a non-student price despite me confirming with the front desk that I am a Columbia student. Took 5 months to correct. - Was on the phone multiple times with multiple different people to correct billing. Every time they keep telling me "it's an insurance issue" when it turned out it was their problem. - Billed me a year later for an appointment I already paid in full. If anyone in ColumbiaDoctors or Columbia University sees this, FIX YOUR ADMIN. FIX YOUR BILLING. This is unacceptable, shameful, and predatory. You should be ashamed for treating your own students like this!

They don't know how to answer a call, make an appointment or help in any way. They take your call and will put you on hold indefinitely all the while playing terrible music. Then they come on again and put you on hold again. They are led to believe they are just wonderful because they work at Columbia. They are untalented and badly trained and probably make very little money.

Each staff member made me feel like they were genuinely concerned by either taking the time to patiently ask about my condition and listen with a careful ear and attentiveness or explain in detail, the results of my tests. Collectively, they made me feel hopeful which was especially important after being seen by other "health professionals" on Staten Island who pretty much wanted to continue to "treat" and bill me with no improvement. After the appointment, Jennifer, the coordinator walked me through the next steps, went through the paperwork and future appointments, and gave me detailed instructions. Later, I received push notifications, texts, and emails with details of upcoming tests, appointments, and procedures. It's important to make a patient feel like they're being listened to. I am thankful I came here.
