When I got home and took a closer look, I noticed the car had O2 sensor spacers installed. That raised a red flag because those are often used to hide issues with failing catalytic converters. This was never disclosed to me during the purchase, and catalytic converter repairs are not cheap. I feel like that's something that should have been clearly communicated upfront so I could make a fully informed decision. Oh and the A/C didn't work . -_-

However, bought a 2014 truck w/ 94k miles, $3700 down... and less than 60 days later, realized it needed a 3k TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY (A new transmission was recommended even), Drive shaft and Fuel pump module. The truck was never serviced either, needed an oil change, front brakes and alignment (small things that I can take care of anyways) Reached out to the dealership in good faith to see if they'd help in one way or another, wasn't expecting the repairs to get completed all by them but who knows.... I was referred to a shop for it to get checked out and they found nothing wrong with the transmission I guess, being so busy, I took time to see another person yet one month after their referral, the check engine light went on and boom, there indeed was a transmission issue. The dealership and 3 other shops all quoted total repairs at $4k to $6k in repairs, or more if I replace the transmission. Side note: Before I realized the issues in my truck, I did refer a friend to the place too and they noted that the cars they checked up on did seem like they needed maintenance too, again, small problems but something to note Can't say you all will have this experience but do carefully examine your vehicles, CAREFULLY, before signing those papers! This has been an EXPERIENCE in my books TWO stars instead of one, since I know the salesman and office staff there definitely deserve some credit I put this review on Google and Yelp since I feel it's important everyone hears me out on this honest review AND YES, I HAVE INVOICES AND RECEIPTS AND PROOF IF ANYONE DOUBTS THIS REVIEW.

I watched Jeff become visibly shaken when my husband started asking questions about the additional charges. Instead of sitting down with us and calmly explaining exactly what we were being charged for, he became defensive and tried to kick my husband out of his office simply because he wanted answers about our own money. I was sitting right there and witnessed the entire interaction. It was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and honestly shocking to watch someone who is supposed to be handling the financial side of a major purchase behave that way. What made me even angrier was that when we tried to contact him, he avoided us instead of having the professionalism to speak with us and explain the charges. Nearly $2300 in add-ons is not pocket change. We have every right to know exactly what we were charged for and why. I can't help but wonder whether the additional commission from those add-ons was more important to him than being transparent with his customers. In my personal experience, Jeff Garcia was completely incompetent and unprofessional. If you cannot explain the charges on a customer's loan and stand behind the paperwork you put in front of them, then you have no business treating customers this way. I told the salesman I was looking for a reliable car for my daughter in the $5000 range. They had 5 Lexus cars on the lot two of them in my price range but the salesman told me the best one on the lot was the 05 with a price of $7500.00. After a quick test drive around the block We settled on $6990.00 cash price plus tax and license came to $8000.00 OTD. I was happy with the price even though that was on the higher end of the blue book value. After signing the paperwork the car wouldn't start. Salesman stated it was due to the unusual low temps were causing battery issues with all their vehicles. next the car remote didn't work, assumed it was the battery. Salesman assured me vehicle came. With 3000 mile warranty so I took possession of the car unknowing the car was about to take possession of me ! Got home and noticed both vehicle. Keys were broken,one was crazy glued and the other duck taped, the read drivers side window didn't roll down and noticed vibration from font end when driving on the freeway. The next day I took the car to an independent Mechanic he stated he didn't see anything major but the tires needed to be replaced and that was probably why it was vibrating on the freeway. I phoned American Auto and informed him of the issues. He gave me the name. Of. The shops mechanic to look at the windows 2 days later the vehicle battery died and needed to be replaced. 10 days later the check engine light comes on and the vehicle starts to jerk at the stop light. I phone American motors and the Sales Manager says, you bought a used car you need to take care of it properly to maintain it and goes on to tell me used cars have problems, deal with it. Now I'm thinking I can use my handy dandy warranty. I take the vehicle to a certified Lexus mechanic and find out the lower. Control arms are broken, along with a motor mount, tranny fluid was dark brown, almost black and needed a flush, after taking the door panels off discovered all four door actuators were also broken. I phoned the warranty company and they stated your vehicle is only covered for the engine, tranny, fuel system and drive train. Sooooo you guessed it ! None of those items are covered. $2500.00 in repairs, now keep in mind dealer would have. Charged $3700.00 So 19 days from purchase and I'm in $ 10,500 with a private party blue book value of $ 6500.00, so I'm upside down $4000.00 You're probably thinking....not so bad. Wrong!!!!, I searched online and found at least 7 similar vehicles in mint condition at major dealerships with less mileage in the $8000.00 range From what I saw on the American Motors lot, I purchased one of the best looking cars they had that day. I can only imagine what problems most of the other vehicles must have...smh these seem to be auction cars, with no service history, poor quality. I wish I'd read the yelp reviews from previous buyers before I made my purchase. Please learn from my mistake purchase from a major lot that will have quality, reconditioned turn key cars or take a chance and purchase private party. No more Sanford and Son lots for me!!!
