Been coming here with my family since it was a San Sai 20 years ago. Not the fanciest sushi or fanciest place, but good quality food for a reasonable price. That's still the same. What has changed is the management and the atmosphere. For years the reason we came was the staff. Some became like friends. One would even text my wife. There were 4 young female waitresses, 3 Asians and one white girl. All were fun and sweet and talkative and made our visits fun. About a year ago I noticed the new management took over. One by one all the waitresses disappeared. The last was the white girl who told us they basically cut their hours until they had no choice but to find new jobs. Now it's just the old lady owner who waitresses. She's ok but very serious and unsmiling and doesn't say a word. She brings a plate, you say thank you, and she stays silent. Not even a "you're welcome" or a smile. It's uncomfortable. I feel bad because her son (I think it's her son) works sometimes and he's really cool. The same Mexican chef that's been here for years is really good too. But it's been dead the last couple visits without all the old staff. I don't think they realized what a difference the staff makes. This is how you run a business into the ground. Get rid of the good staff that makes a place a fun neighborhood place. read more

First time here and I was not disappointed at all. I had the rainbow sushi with teriyaki streak and Yakisoba noodles. The best teriyaki steak I've ever had!! Everything was soo good! The restaurant is nice and not very big. The staff was great and the sushi chef gladly answered any questions we had. I will definitely be back for more! Dined in for dinner. The staff were super kind and willing to serve. They offer outdoor dining and accommodated for my large party of eight. They sanitized the tables and brought two large heating lamps because it was cold during night. The staff was very friendly and had constant smiles on their face. Compared to other sushi restaurants, O Dai Ba's prices were a bit cheaper. I ordered the Crunchy Tiger roll and it was very good. If you are a fan of rolls with a nice crunch, I recommend! If you enjoy sashimi, they offer raw fish as well. To finish the night, I got the mango macaron ice cream sandwich. It was very good and the mango flavor was not too overpowering. Overall, I give this place a 5/5 because they follow safety precautions (which is the most important to me) and they were more than willing to help me with whatever i needed (heating lamps, extra dishes, hot water, extra sauce, etc.) read more

I ordered takeout at the restaurant during a pretty busy time, but my order came out in about 25 minutes, which was honestly shorter than I expected! If you can't tell from the picture, I love salmon and their salmon was SO good, along with their yellowtail! Not a big fan of the tuna though, it was a bit dry(?). YUMMM! Great authentic tasting Japanese food! I docked one star because they seem to be working out the kinks for in person patio dining: it's dinner and cold and they didn't have their patio heaters turned on, despite a brave couple sitting there trying to eat with no heat when it's fairly cold out. I chose the place by driving by and seeing they had patio dining available and I could see the heaters from the parking lot. Once I got there, I asked about the heaters and they said they had to wait until they got tanks for the heaters but then a few minutes later they started lighting them... so they did have tanks, just hadn't lit them. They had trouble getting them lit but after several tries they finally did. :) That made a huge difference. Their heaters are a good quality and put out good heat. They just need to set up the patio like they are expecting customers! Once we were seated and people driving by could see people on the patio, more people came! So yeah it's worth setting up the patio. This is only worth half a star down. :) Also, the other half a star is because the service was just ok. They were very friendly and cool, but one guy seemed very unknowledgeable about how to serve and the menu. He did his best and again was a very cool guy, just maybe brand new to serving and to the restaurant? WHEN THE FOOD CAME, it made up for those minor issues. It is DELICIOUS! Love love love the food! I'm assuming they are just growing through inconvenience of having to close due to pandemic and now able to reopen patio and that it will likely get better service wise. The super crunch roll is my favorite roll on their menu. The fish is fresh and the sauce on top! I could literally drink it! We always manage to come on a Friday night when they are really busy. It is a smaller restaurant, not that many servers and there is a bit of a wait, I do understand some of the reviews regarding having to wait to be seated, but at the same time, the waitresses are the ones serving AND seating guests. If there was one person in the front just seating people it would help but again, it's a small space with not many tables and a lot of customers wanting to come in. Indoor dining- if you want to eat on patio table, order take out and eat outside. Hot tea no refills on hot water. Water - ask for a straw- that is standard now a days in California. Sushi rice a little over cooked mushy. Fish tasted fresh no smells. I got oyster shooter, salmon collar- yellow tail sold out- they did not sear the edges- so ask for it well done if you like it that way. Baby greens also delicious. Baked Scallop roll -- I am a fan. Accepts credit or cash. I was very full and happy. No AYCE- I think this has gone away at every place now a days-- the "after covid" scar. Plenty of parking and good looking people chattering in the parking lot-- there's a Pilates and fitness gym , juice place, and Sprouts-- so healthy people are grazing around this plaza. We've been here many times over the years, even when it was under another name. Always had good food and service, until today. Got there right before the dinner rush and from the start, we were ignored for a few minutes after getting seated. The parties that came in AFTER us, got served and finished BEFORE us. Our server was oblivious and never even brought us utensils to eat our CA roll. No napkins either. (Again, they weren't terribly busy.) Coming from the service industry myself, a server needs to keep their eyes on every table while going back and forth to the kitchen. It makes no sense to make multiple trips to get simple things like utensils, napkins, water, chop sticks, etc... After we finally got to order, it took 30 mins. (no joke) to get our food! If the management is open to suggestions, keeping the patron waiting for their dinners and spending too much time occupying the table, (The entire meal is placed on one plate) means serving LESS patrons each night. If the salads and rice were brought out WITH the drinks BEFORE the main entrée, the patrons would be finishing their meals MUCH faster and paying and leaving, freeing up that table for more people. Also, eye contact and smiles go a very long way with customer service. read more
