Sushi is great here. Always served quickly during lunch times. Great place for lunch. Definitely order the Asahi.

The seafood itself was stale + the crunchy fried stuff tasted like it was fried in stale oil. Hard pass on all the food.

Oh my gosh this place was seriously so bad - we had dinner here last week and braced our self because we were so sure that we would be sick just after having a few bites. Luckily we didn't get sick, but barely had any food as it tasted seriously stale. I hate writing 1 star reviews, but definitely definitely skip this place.

My favorite place to have sushi ! The service is great but is often busy so be patient with the service staff and enjoy the best place local in upland .

Food was great. Service was great. The tempura fried bananas with green tea ice cream was exceptional and we will absolutely be returning for that dessert.

Lately the food at Kuma is extremely good! They are one of the only places left to get Bluefin! They also have a roll made with Wagu beef that is delicious!!

I haven't been to this restaurant in a while but I have always had good food here. The last time I was here I thought it was a little pricey but I was pleasantly surprised when I got there that their prices remained relatively at par with most of the restaurants around. This is a place where you can get other Japanese dishes that you might not find in most places. We ordered the sukiyaki, chawanmushi, soba noodles, and gindara. The sukiyaki had great flavor although the beef was a little tough. The soba noodles is always filling and a great value. I like how much seafood they had in the Chawanmushi (must try if you haven't had it yet) and the gindara was melt in your mouth. Service was pretty fast after we got seated. A good place to add to your restaurant rotation

Suburban sushi is a highly accurate description of Kuma. My friend and I shared the following: -albacore sashimi -salmon skin roll ($6.00) -a specialty roll -tempura soba ($13.50) We ordered a specialty roll - a spicy tuna roll topped with seared albacore with Cajun seasoning. Well my friends, I did not love the Cajun twist. It does not go hand in hand with sushi. My bad for not recognizing this sooner. What I found the most offsetting about the rolls was the inclusion of pickled carrots - the kind you find in kimpab. While they're minuscule in size, they're big in flavor and the taste is dramatically changed. Yikes. Soba noodles were good - good variety in the vegetable medley. Everything else was very mid.

    Carpaccio Roll

Holy Albacore Batman!!! Listen, you HAVE TO try Carpaccio Roll. It is to die for. The service was great and the food is even better. Come here and eat everything.

Food was ok. Im a food head and eat sushi almost every other day and it felt like the rolls tasted 12 dollars besides 20..but its upland and they gotta pay their bills. The service was ok. The usual i hate being here style servers unless its someone that might tip them well. So i tipped them 30 for a 50 dollar meal....maybe they will have some pep in their step for the next guest who comes in. The place is kinda boring looking. Not a good place to take your girl. But ill come by when i feel like getting a small snack...

We have been coming here since 2021 and never disappoints. Food is delicious and servers are attentive and friendly. Good ambiance. My daughter loves this place. Will definitely return.

I was craving Bun Bo Hue but the daughter who runs the place said her mom is still in the back making it which takes over ten hours because they slow cook pork bones to make the fabulous broth. Totally not an issue with me since they offer so many other authentic dishes. This time I got the Shrimp, Pork and Pork Hock Bahn Cahn. Bahn Cahn is a Vietnamese udon noodle soup. These udon noodles are thick, chewy and made with tapioca or rice flour. It's different than Japanese udon. The soup was light yet umami and the pork hock was fall off the bone tender. Delicious. Even better with their chili oil, which they also make in house. It's not on the table so make sure to ask for that, it has a complex lemongrass flavor and is divine! They also have another chili oil (the one with the pink cap) that's not made in house but is extremely spicy if you want to amp up the heat. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and can't wait to be back!
