We ventured back to #1 Pho Noodle Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga California and we are pleased to share it was once again a delicious experience! We had their original Pho Noodle soup-the broth was sublime and the ingredients were fresh and sooo tasty-a great place to enjoy Pho Noodle and other freshly made delicious Vietnamese cuisine dishes. We also tried a Bahn Mi sandwich made on a crispy French bagutte,delicious pork,cucumbers,veggies and sauce and tasted great! We also shared their specialty in house fried rice with veggie ingredients,chicken,beef,pork and shrimp and was absolutely delicious! First impressions? Sauce game is level amazing! They have everything out for you to make your dish seasoned to your specifications! I really appreciating not having to bother the busy staff with my annoying needs for various sauces ! The egg rolls were crispy and enough for two people. I was just rolling with Camilla the Yelping Hen... and she basically just pecks about... so if you aren't a huge eater there will be left overs! The taste was good, if not a wee bit greasy. But what fried thing isn't? I went ahead and got the bun which was passable. I wouldn't say it blew my mind but the portion was large and the price was fair for the dish. I was certainly unable to eat the entire thing! The shrimp were actually pretty darn big and they cleaned them. Which seems like a small ask, but it's shocking how many places don't... don't even get me started on how dirty breaded shrimp can be (they hide it with the batter!) This place is good & reliable. Not the best pho in the whole world but pretty good! I got the pho filet, it was good. The meat was pretty tender and the slices were huge. Personally felt like there was too much meat, but that's definitely a pro rather than a con for most people. The broth was nice, not oily, and had a good beef flavor. When a I eat pho I ask for my onion on the side and mix in hoisin sauce. I love adding it on top of my bite of pho, adds a nice crunch! Haha just wanted to share, I feel like it adds a layer to eating pho, def try it out if you feel like it! The spring rolls were good, very refreshing bite. The sauce is pretty good too, my Vietnamese mother highly approved of it. The inside is a decent size, pretty spacious. Nothing really stands out about the interior but it's nothing I really look for when I go to a pho place, so I personally don't mind at all. This is an okay food spot, but it's not somewhere I'd send people to. The employees are unwelcoming and make you feel as though they don't want you there, which creates an uncomfortable environment. Service is quick though. There is a good amount of indoor seating, but it would be difficult to host a large party as it is a small shop. Restrooms are available. The shop stays at a low to moderate noise level even when busy. They do have a shared parking lot. There are some other popular businesses in the plaza though, so the lot can get busy. They have a lot of food options, from soups to rice plates, so there is something for everyone. The food is okay, but nothing great. Prices are average to slightly expensive, especially considering that there are other more favorable pho spots in the area. Maybe they were just having a bad night, but my combined experience of mediocre food and bad service doesn't equate to me giving them another try. read more

My eldest daughter was craving some Pho last night. Where should we eat? Ding, ding, and ding! #1 Pho Noodle and Grill came to mind. We ate here many and I mean many blue moons ago. We're back! Well, this place has changed its outlook inside. It has been renovated and transformed altogether. Space appears to be tighter due to the dividers IMHO. Luckily, my daughter and I got a table that was in a more open area. They now have a banh mi station. The old staff is no longer here. It looks light they have changed ownership. Nice staff... they may be the new owners not 100% sure. We came here for Pho so my daughter got the Pho Combination. I don't eat beef anymore so I got my Shrimp Paste + Egg Rolls with vermicelli. Funny, we saw a pink handle pair of scissors in the utensils container... first time ever seeing scissors being readily available without having to ask them. Why scissors you ask? It's to help you cut the noodles or meats or anything that needs cutting. It's a very useful tool in a Vietnamese restaurant. Good job #1 Pho!!! Per my daughter, the soup was tasty, but a bit oily. She thinks they put tumeric in the soup because the soup had a slight hint of yellow LOL. I tasted it and yes, there was some kind of unfamiliar spice in it. As for my bowl, it was delicious overall. The shrimp paste was good... wished it was bigger and there was more of it. Egg rolls were just okay... not savory enough... just a little dry. Their fish sauce was different... it was thicker in consistency which I find odd... almost pasty-like... still tasted okay. Veggies were very fresh. Water was refreshing! Tried this spot for the first time and it was amazing! I ordered the Pho #9 and it was super good, really flavorful broth, tender meat, and everything tasted super fresh. The portion was big too. Yummy pho and decent service. My husband went back today to order their banh mi sandwiches and we both really enjoyed them. The bang bang chicken banh mi was packed with flavor and the bread was super crunchy. Price was also very reasonable. So I've been coming here for years I just wasn't big at writing reviews back then. I used to come here before the remodel. I lived in Rancho then. Now I live in Fontana but will still drive past many Pho spots to come here for my Pho especially on cold and rainy days. The remodel is cute. They've added some accents walls and a chalkboard wall where they write their specials and some menu items. I got the pho special combination. It's basically the works, it has it all. My date got the filet mignon Pho. The little condiment plate with the bean sprouts, jalapeño, mint and limes comes out first. Please note if you don't use all the mint and limes in your Pho ask for a water and put some mint leaves and limes in your water and get ready to take the most refreshing water ever! It's so good I never get beverages here and even ask for a to-go cup to take my concoction with me. I'm telling you best water concoction ever! But enough about water the Pho's come out piping hot. The bowls are huge I always have to ask for a to-go container for my leftovers. I am usually only able to eat about half because the portion is so big. I asked for egg noodles instead of rice noodles this time. I enjoy both but felt like egg noodles today. As always the Pho hit the spot. All the different meats, the noodles it was all fresh with all the flavor. My date is a big man lol he finished his bowl down to drinking the last drop of broth from the bowl. Which leads to my next comment. We used chopsticks but when it came time for my date to drink his broth he asked for a spoon. They have a container of spoons and forks on each table. This set up is not my fav. I picked up more than a few spoons and they did not look clean. Then I reached for the other container of soup spoons those were even worse. That's why my date was drinking his broth out the bowl because I wasn't letting him use a dirty spoon. Plus with the silverware on the table all day I don't know what the person before did with them. No thank you. As for the service. They say "hi", take your order and hand you your check. Not much in between. I did have to ask for more lime 3 times. They didn't even ask us if we needed anything before handing us the check. They literally just put our check on the table and walk away. So my date had to get up and ask for the to-go containers because they weren't big on checking on us. Well they weren't today anyways and they weren't busy so I can't even give them that as an excuse. So in short, the place is cute and cozy the food is very fresh and tasty, utensils on the table is a no for me and the service will just get it done but don't expect much extra. One of the first things I do in an Asian restaurant is look for Asian customers. Check. Plenty of Asian customers. Another thing I look for are attentive servers. Check. The cook and the server both brought me food and plenty of water. The thing I came in here to have was a Banh Mi sandwich. CHECK. I used to live in San Jose where I used to frequent Little Saigon in the downtown area. Banh Mi sandwiches for $3. The $8.25 Bahn Mi here is every bit as tasty and authentic, so good that I was taken back to 1990. There are other things on the menu, but that and the egg rolls are the only things I can rave about. Not bad. I work across the parking lot from this place! I come by once a week at least, with co-workers. The pho is solid. I always usually get a pho filet mignon. My picture is a mi wonton, I was craving egg noodles. The soup came out piping hot and I liked the soup flavor. I liked the filling for the wontons but the outside of the wonton was thick. This is my first time back here since 2016. They have renovated since then and the food has also improved! I ordered take out and the front greeters/cahiers were welcoming. My to go order took less than 10 mins! (Granted it wasn't super busy.) I thought it was great service! I ordered the Báhn Mì Db it's the first one on the Báhn Mì list. And my husband demolished it. I had the #48 Bún bò chao tom chà giò which is a rice noodle with shredded lettuce, sliced cucumbers/carrots, fish cakes, beef, peanuts, bean sprouts, fried pork egg rolls and fish sauce. I haven't been here for a while and I'm surprised to see that they have recently made changes to the place. They installed a new chalk wall and also a new accent wall. Listen, pho is my most favorite food in the entire world. I've been enjoying it for over 30 years and if I had to have my last meal on earth, it would have to be pho. If I could eat pho all over the world, I would. With that being said, you can only imagine how many times I've had it, especially from this place. I came here once during Covid and it wasn't memorable so I never came back. However on a whim looking for a place to eat the other night we came back and it has totally changed. The inside has been renovated and it looks very nice. The food is pretty good. I love their Banh Mi's- it's the best I've gotten around here. Their grilled pork one is my favorite. The Pho is pretty standard, but I like that they will do side orders of the meats (even if you don't order pho). My go to is usually the Crispy Noodles which they do tend to add a lot more veggies than meat but it's okay, the flavors are good so it's my opportunity to get my Veggies in. Their beef stew is also very good. The meat flavorful and they pick the right cut of meat, not too lean. They don't have any shakes which is a bummer but overall it's our new quick dinner spot! read more
