Wasabi and ginger for our sushi etc. Felt like they forgot about us a lot, my husbands old fashioned took over 20 mins to get to us. Our food runner was more attentive than our waiter, grabbing us stuff we needed. Sushi broke apart the second you tried to pick it up with chopsticks, my sashimi bento box was good for the price. They give you one napkin and in my recent visit now they limit how many condiments you can order with your food. Its so sad bc when these places are growing they accomodate and care about their service. Once they become so corporate its like they stop caring. Absolutely 100% the worst restaurant in the area. My salmon was old and overpriced. Five slice slices $15.95. I had told the waiter, it was supposed to be removed off the bill. My other two rolls had small pieces of fish on them like they were totally skimping out. I'm in shock having just returned from Asia. This is definitely overpriced wannabe sushi. Service was not great...a staff member named Ellis accidentally put down a plate of edamame, and our party mistakenly thought it was complimentary. Halfway through the waiter came back and rudely announced that the dish wasn't for us, even though it was their fault that it was on our table in the first place. They then took it away, acting as if WE were in the wrong, and ruined the overall experience. Like...it's a plate of edamame...that reaction was so uncalled for. You'd think this place would improve because it's a franchise. But this specific Rancho location hasn't (food wise). Or maybe I'm ordering the wrong thing. I always go here for happy hour. The tempura isn't crispy when I get it. And I've noticed a change in the fish to rice ratio whenever I order sushi. I love this local spot. Always come for their amazing happy hour (weekdays starting at 3pm). If you're lucky enough to get bar seating, Juan and Eden are the best bartenders. The happy hour is to die for, $2 small sakes and half off rolls. 10/10 would recommend and would definitely come back. It's a local favorite. So this is an interesting review, my table ordered a lot of different dishes: sushi, noodles, small plates, appetizers, and desserts. Everything was honestly so good so I can't give less than 5 stars, BUT the only thing that really bothered us was the portion size of the sweet potato fries appetizer. This was almost $10 and there was barely any fries on the plate. I don't know if it was just a plating error or if that's the normal portion. To get the bad out the way the speed was pretty bad... went on a Monday night and it took about 8-10 mins to even be acknowledged while standing at the host stand. Wasn't too busy there was empty tables; I guess they were just understaffed but took awhile for us to be seated and people waiting for their pick up orders also waited awhile without even a greeting or a "I'll be right with you" and we had the same wait for the sushi and for the sauces we asked for. BUT... The sushi/food was solid and after we were seated the server/bartender was super nice. I ordered a salmon roll which was alright and I also got the Alaskan roll which was great with the eel sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly but raw was just mid. This has been the worst service i've had in a long time, the waitress and server seemed rude and irritated with me to the point i wondered if they were mistaking me for someone else cause there seemed to be some micro aggression coming from both of them even though i had never been there before, which says a lot considering how small the interactions were with both of them. the server rushed me to order and then she never even came back to our table i had to literally go get my own napkins and utensils.i wanted to order drinks but she never came back despite coming to tables around us she never made eye contact to see if we wanted anything or even give us the chance to get her attention. Initially, I did not get my white rice with my to-go order, and when they realized the mistake they took care of it right away, so I can't say enough about the customer service. They go above and beyond to make sure your experience is good. Now, for the rolls. My favorite thing here are the rolls, because I usually order to-go, and I LOVE the cute cardboard boxes they place the rolls in, as opposed to using plastic. I feel it's healthier. I've uploaded a picture. You can see the cute flower design of the wasabi. Love the food here. Less grease, healthier meals than most restaurants. Lunch specials are great (between11-4) and their Happy hour (between 3-6 on M-F and 2-5 on Sat -Sun). We were seated on the other side of the room for a table of six and with all the food we ordered I felt like we need a bigger table. We ordered the spicy seafood udon, some sushi rolls, and a super amazing dream boat which had kalbi ribs, teriyaki chicken and beef with tempura, gyoza, tempura roll, soup, salad and rice! I stayed away from all the carbs as I'm doing really good with being mindful but the meat was good! And this place always rocks! One thing though hubby added on the kids meal, crispy sesame chicken and thought it wasn't as good as the rest of the meal. So start feeling sorry for the kids and order them something else.
