Live Rock Band on this Friday night! Hee

Every time have come to this karaoke bar I've always been greeted by security and bartender seem to really like their job. From what I've seen, all the bartenders also sing so I'm glad they all have musical talents as well! Service is fast and quick, and I like the assortment of different beers on top. Especially like the cider beers they offer since those aren't as popular in other breweries. The DJ for the karaoke night, Anthony is great, he is very personable easy to help out with songs and has a great singing voice as well! Lol Since this is in the middle of downtown, sometimes things become questionable but security is always on their a game so I felt safe coming here as a single woman meeting up with friends. Hee

Good pour of Guinness, but didn't honor the HH pricing on a Thurs after 9pm (no SAP events that day). Also didn't have live band earlier that day that they said would have, but good spot to hang with a group. Classic Irish pub.

It was date night and we decided to visit the different lounges and establishments that were in the San Pedro neighborhood. Stopped in a few to get some drinks. O'Flaherty's Irish Pub was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying the ambiance and their drinks. The music was loud and the bar was crowded. Managed to get the bartender's attention and ordered a Lemon Drop. Presentation was ok nothing special but the taste was really good and nicely served with the sugar rim.

still our first choice to watch a game. the atmosphere is always great on game day, even if you're the only one rooting for the other team

bit confusing bc you walk in & nobody looks at you or tells you where to sit - but then again I guess this is legit just a bar style thing? anyways ended up sitting at the actual bar & were handed menus afterwards all the TVs were playing the golf thing & I was bored but I suppose that's what everyone wanted to watch haha got three beers - some beers only come inpre-set pour sizes so that was interesting fish & chips were a little heavy on the breading they ran out of ribs? so I got Irish fries - was basically just fries w some sauce on top

Ah, such a delight! One of my favorite places near San Pedro square to have a pint and do some people watching. Live music is available some nights and quiz night is always fun. Fantastic service too. Bartenders are superb and usually quite busy. Overall, a great vibe. I prefer the slower nights where the crowd is a bit less to allow myself time to meditate on my pint. There are TVs for live sports, which is always fun.

It is a shame that the owner/manager, whomever that may be, staffed today with just two people!! The date of this car show was announced many many months ago and the event is well attended!! There is/was absolutely no excuse for not having adequate staff!! We walked in for lunch and they were many open tables, but it took quite some time to get menus and even longer to get beverage orders taken. When the beverages arrived, we were short one/one was missing. The Reuben sandwich was very salty and the chicken sandwich under-seasoned. The other sandwich and burger were nothing special. When it came time to leave one party at our table, had to go find the waitress and ask for our bill/check. As a group we debated about not even leaving a tip, but ultimately decided that it was not the waitress nor bartender's fault but management's fault for having a skeleton crew working on an extremely busy event day.

A handsome building with three distinct areas to settle in, it's easy to find comfort here. The choice mix-tape music with ample offerings from the 80s and 90s especially, help set the mood. And though this is an English pub, the music is not confined to the U.K. The beer selection is great - and international, as well. The Guiness menu on the wall is helpful, but there's even more to explore. Tumer Pils, Stella, et al. And there is a good whiskey menu, too. Trials is also great for food. I recently enjoyed their Pub Burger, which is a hearty plate of 1/2 lb. burger, with bacon, cheese, and the usual veggie accompaniment. The 'chips' are good and plentiful, but I have now tried their beer-battered onion rings -- and those are wonderful. Perfectly crunchy, not greasy, and just salty enough. If you do opt for the salad with any of your dishes, it's deep green and crafted with care. The side salad here is no afterthought. The Shepard's Pie looks great, and apparently is (though my dining companion failed to offer me a bite). Previously, I had enjoyed the falafel plate because sometimes, you just want falafel. Also previously, I tasted the chicken curry dish (hearty and delicious). The Mac n Cheese bites got high marks at our table, though I did not partake. The sausage rolls - classic pub fare - were very good on my first trip here. The cold water is refreshing and welcome. And the Tumer Pils hit the spot. It's all good here. Special mention for Thomas, one of the gents here. Super-likable, with a sly sense of humor, Thomas is a major asset at Trials Pub. Parking is easy -- or just ride-share -- just in case.

Five stars, and every one of them is for Dunncha. If he didn't bartend here this would be a two,…read moreand the second star is only because they carry the Rye I like. He wasn't on tonight. Adam was. So, here we go... Quick background so you know who's writing this. I grew up in downtown San Jose and I've owned and operated bars and coffee shops there, including on 1st Street. All front facing, all customer service, nothing hides behind a kitchen door. I am 26 years old and it's a quick way to see how service staff treats young/non-regular service. Over +10 years in this industry, four of those as an owner. I've hired bartenders, trained bartenders, and fired bartenders. I've watched the tape at 2am trying to figure out why a our best bar-fly stopped coming in. So when I walk into a bar, I'm not just a guest. I'm watching how the room gets run. I got recommended Fibbar's on the Caltrain. I had a tight timeline and made room for it anyway, because I love supporting local and I know what it takes to keep the doors open. I came for Dunncha. I've had him behind the bar before and he elevated the whole night, every time. His name gets around downtown San Jose, and as an owner I've seriously considered hiring him myself. The guy on the train swore by him too. I figured with a pro like that on staff, I'd get put in the queue, served quick, and be back on the train. Instead Dunncha was off and I got Adam. Oh boy... He told me he'd be right with me, then filled 3 beers and mixed a drink for the woman next to me (I've pulled enough bar cam to know that's easy to check). When I checked in he called me "Mr Impatient." I let it go. I tried to make friends with him, even offered up my cowboy hat, because I had a train in 15 minutes and didn't want to make it worse. He grabbed my wallet off my hat (front bar video) and paraded around with my hat while I waited to close out. I told him about the train. He shrugged. This was after I'd already ordered three drinks. I paid, thanked him, and thought we were on good terms. Then he loudly confessed to scissoring my fingers. What a weird thing to do. Then "He made me!" Weirder thing to say. The people next to me didn't know what that meant either. They just... Starred??? Probably weirded out by their bartender telling them he was scissoring my fingers LOL I usually don't review a place until I've had the food. Didn't happen tonight. Adam's demeanor made me feel unwelcome and honestly unhungry, and I'm not the kind of guest who loses his appetite easy. Owner to owner: gaining a new customer is the most expensive thing you do. I was scouting Fibbar's for my workgroup, my GeoCache group, and the Sunnyvale Restoration Cleanup Group. Three groups, all local, all regulars once they land somewhere. Adam lost all three in 15 minutes. If he were on my payroll that's not a bartender, that's a liability. And he had the gall to tell me good luck catching the Caltrain. Caught it, by the way, no help from you, little buddy. If Dunncha's on, go. I'd trust him with my own bar. If it's Adam, don't. The magic of Fibbar's is gone. He killed the vibe. Definitely not welcome at my bars with that "friendly" attitude. P.S. Owner-to-owner, I'd pull the tape. Seen it before. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

First night was a Thursday. I ordered the fish and chips which were ok. Nothing spectacular. The scene was dead and there was maybe only 7-10 other people in the entire pub. Second night I came was on a Saturday. I only ordered drinks. There was a bigger crowd but barely, 15-20 people. Overall my opinion of this place is positive and yet I was disappointed that it wasn't better. It's in a great location. There's hotels and condominiums in the area all within walking distance. The atmosphere is great. The staff is awesome! It has so many positive aspects that should make it a regular hangout spot but for some reason it's failing. I'm giving it 5 stars because I feel it deserves better. People should give this place a shot. There is a dart board that is free to play which I think is awesome. A big patio area for large parties. The beer prices are very reasonable. Suggestion to the establishment: They have an AMI juke box, but on both nights the volume was turned down pretty low which kind of made me feel like I wasn't getting my money's worth. Turn it up!!! This place needs to figure out if it wants to be a restaurant that serves beer or be a bar that serves food. Personally I think it needs to realize that it needs to focus on being a bar. There's 15 other restaurants within walking distance from here and that food is 100 times better. This place should focus on getting the customers that leave those restaurants for after meal drinks.

The total for both (without tip) was $19.70. Not the cheapest, but I've seen more expensive pub fare elsewhere. The club soda was as good as any, but the grilled cheese sandwich was a bit disappointing. It was small and lukewarm, and the accompanying fries were bland as well. We made the most out of our games and still felt joy. However, it does need to be fixed! I can't say enough about the staff. The lady waitress who served and helped us was so wonderful. She came back several times to check on us and even convinced us to order dessert which we did enjoy! Going to try other theme nights, its that fun there!
