A great looking Milwaukee bar with a dining fast food area I would more compare it than a restaurant . This is a cool urban place for watching sports and one of the many neat looking bars in and around the downtown area of this great city. There was plenty of beer choices and some usual grub to eat in tis bar that is in an old preserved building and will never be mistaken for the new constructed crap you find in the suburbs. read more

The best corned beef in the city. Yes, better than McBob's or anyone else. The corned beef burger had me daydreaming about it for weeks. Good beer selection and excellent specials. Came on Monday night for the taco special based on a friends recommendation. The taco special requires that you order a drink, so I ordered a corona and the tacos. I ended up finding a very sharp needle like shard of glass about a centimeter long that looked like a piece of a broken beer bottle after biting into something hard in one of my tacos. That could have easily led to a nice trip to the hospital that night had I ended up chewing on it at a different angle. Even worse, it could have led to severe internal damage if swallowed. Potentially life threatening and requiring surgery. Might sound dramatic but it's not an exaggeration, I graduate medical school in a few months so I have a little understanding of the potential. I brought it to the attention of the waitress and she just said "Oh, I'm sorry". I had to ask her if she could do something about it to get any more of a response. Later she came back and said she would take care of it for the bill. Pretty much the bare minimum for what you could do considering. As we were finishing up she came with the bills for our party and I was surprised to be handed one. I was still charged for the beer I ordered, that I only ordered to get the special in the first place. I asked, "You're not going to take off the beer too?" She actually laughed and said "No". At this point I was a bit irritated and went back to her and asked to speak with a manager. Surprise surprise, there was no manager there, or at least that's what I was told. I don't generally get upset enough to leave a review, but this compelled me to write my first. I wish I would have thought to take a picture to post with this review at the time. This establishment (and myself) was just a stroke of luck away from a catastrophe and major lawsuit, the stuff you hear about on the news. Though, lucky for me, all I got was just a very poor experience at an establishment I will never return to or recommend. read more

Was there before Irish Fest. Not that busy and waited 7 minutes for a Bloody Mary that was filled with crazy things, and way too much ice ( we did not understand it). Then ordered breakfast - I had a salad and my husband had 2 eggs w/ corn beef hash. That too, took over 20 minutes and it was not corn beef hash - it was just hash browns. The waitress then brought us 2 more Bloody Mary's after she misunderstood our order - we wanted the beer chasers that went along w/ the Bloody Mary's. When the bill came she charged us for the 2 Bloody Mary's that we did not drink - it took her another 5-7 minutes to get the bill straight and when she did she did not give us back the correct amount. We live 1 mile away and will never ever return to Lydia's - unless Lydia straightens out her workers. read more

Came here on Valentine's Day with my hubby. We were both skeptical but didn't have reservations anywhere where else and we didn't want to wait in line for 45 to 60min. We both had the Cod dinner and it was great. We also tryed the wings with assorted dressing ,which was pretty good as well. I came in there with a group of people after a pedal tavern. I have been in the bar a few times and I have never received wonderful service or tasted anything spectacular but it's a corner bar so my expectations weren't so high. Regardless, I took my group there because it was convenient. There was a woman behind the bar who was a straight up snob, who happened to be the owner of this place. She was angry, rude, and clearly wished she was somewhere else. Needless to say, I took my whole group somewhere else because we all felt that place did not deserve our money. Someone else will take over this place in a few years. Maybe then she will realize how important it is to speak with patrons with respect and a little smile. read more

I have never had a bad experience at O'Lydia's but last Sunday really hit the spot, we sat outside on a beautiful day, their patio usually has both sunny and shaded tables to fit your preference. The food as always was great, I had the "Big Boy Breakfast" and it delivered, it was a challenge to finish it. Our server was Ashleigh and I could not have asked for more. I work in the industry and I have a pet peeve about the line between attentive and hovering and she struck a great balance while serving other tables and helping out co-workers as well. Grabbed a beer while waiting for our ride on the way out and bar staff was on point and personable as well. The only thing I will warn you about: The patio is right next to the rail line and passing freight trains can interrupt your conversations for a moment or two as they go by so if you are super sensitive to noises maybe eat inside. Other than that O'Lydia's continues to consistently deliver. read more

I stopped in for the fish fry after reading some of their reviews. Very disappointing. Fish was over cooked and very dry. The potato pancakes served with the fish were under cooked. Plenty of great fish fry's in Milwaukee with much higher quality and lower prices. Nice bar with a good vibe and atmosphere, just order something else. read more

While I first started going here when it was Slim's, the only obvious change has been the name, and that's a good thing. Definitely a place I can relax at and have a cold beer while I peruse the menu. I've had the perch, a salad, wings, 1/2 lb burgers, fries, shepard's pie and all have been top notch "bar food". The kitchen is right next to the bar so you can watch the cook prepare you meal. I am sad they got rid of the AYCE crab legs, but the daily specials make up for it. read more

I love O'Lydia's. We come here usually once per week. The atmosphere is fun and laid back. The bartenders, owner and servers are always attentive and fun. Marcia is usually our server, and she is not only on top of her game remembering our food and beverage choices, but she is very personable. The food is great. The salad is actually healthy and tasty - I get the house salad (which always has fresh veggies) and chicken on top of it - They also put home-made croutons on it and server it in a funky bowl, adding to the ambiance of the atmosphere - The music is usually a theme - blues, jazz, funky, classic rock - Very fun. One of my favorites! I've lived across 1st street from this place for 3 years now, and leaving O'Lydias is probably going to be one of the hardest parts about moving someday. The parking is great, the staff is wonderful, the patio is amazing in the warmer months and they offer shuttles to big events like Summerfest, the St. Patty's day parade, etc! Because I live so close my husband and I go here probably more than we should but I have never been disappointed. I'm obsessed with the reuben rolls... I've had them at other places (Hooligan's being one of them) and they sucked in comparison. They have food specials every week night; the wings are great, the burgers are delish and they always have a great variety of soup offered everyday! And the most important aspect for any bar: the drinks. They have awesome specials for beer drinkers. I unfortunately don't like beer but have always been pleased with how generously they have made my cocktails. This place is great! My only request for them would be to start up the all you can eat crab legs like Slim's had... Love it here! read more

Casual corner bar restaurant. Very friendly bartenders and waitress. Stopped in for a burger while out on the Harley and what a burger we had. It was a Thursday and they have a large 1/2 cheese burger with fries or chips or mashed for $4.95. Fantastic burger and I will for sure be here to cure a hangover with a greasy burger this summer. Not that it happens often. It was also $2 Miller lite tap night so I was in. Well worth a try for a burger kind of night. read more

The food was excellent and the service was even better. Crystal, our waitress, needs to teach a class on how to be a server. She brought out napkins without asking and promptly cleared all finished plates. She was super sweet, and was a fantastic server. I said to my husband numerous times during our visit, "this is my new favorite". My only regret is we drove past O'Lydia's for years and said, "We should try it". I wish we'd become customers sooner. Love this place. I go quite often on Mondays for the tacos. So good! Plus, it's $5 for all you can eat. Can't really go wrong with that! I visited this restaurant recently and experienced something that I NEVER have in the past 30 years of life. I have been to three-star to five-star restaurants around the world and have never experienced or even heard of such egregious behavior. A friend and I stopped into this place and she ordered nachos from the menu and I ordered the roast beef. However, my friend wanted chicken on her nachos and asked the waitress if that was possible. The waitress said it was. When the nachos came out there was NO chicken on the nachos, but rather corn beef shreds. As most all would agree, when have you EVER had corn beef on nachos, and more importantly why was there no chicken on them as requested. My friend informed the waitress of the mistake and asked for a salad instead. The salad was brought out and then the nachos taken back. Given that series of events we thought the salad would be substituted for the nachos. Needless to say when we go the bill the nachos and salad were both charged on the bill. We informed the waitress and she replied "I have to get my manager." The manager, but I believe the middle aged lady to be the owner, came out and asked what occurred. We informed her of the series of events and then she began to argue with us about not liking the nachos and that she still expected us to pay for them. I again reminded her that not only did my friend NOT like the nachos with corn beef on them, but that she had ordered them with chicken instead of corn beef. The manager attempted to continue to argue what she thought made sense--mind you the nachos were $8--and to make us feel bad for even bringing up the matter. I informed her that the order was wrong and the issue had nothing to do with us liking the nachos or money as she attempted to allude to. Long story short, I was fed up with the HORRIBLE customer service from the manager (aka the owner) and told her I would pay for the nachos. Without saying, I WILL NEVER BE BACK AGAIN AND WILL INFORM ALL OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY NOT TO PATRONIZE this place again. I am guessing that the owner must be on hard times financially to argue with a customer about $8 when her wait staff was clearly in the wrong. read more

this place is a far cry from the great place slims used to be. The new owner is just terrible. the only good thing shes done is to keep slims menu. if she could get the new staff to get it right, maybe they will have a chance. all of the waitstaff that we came to love are now gone, the new young, and one very old, staff have no clue. so heres the skinny...i ordered a drink, a ketle and soda. took ten minutes, and came to me wrong. i got tonic, not soda. the owner was bartending. not only did she tell me I was wrong, but charged me for another drink instead of correcting HER mistake. We ordered appetizers and reubens, which took 25 minutes, and all came together and room temperature. did we get an apology or even acknowledgement of less than great service??? NOPE! olydias, you are destined for failure. and youd deserve it. read more
