When we moved to Old Fields O'Neills was the first restaurant we went to. What a great idea that was! The service was spot on-our waitress was attentive without 'over doing it'. Between Petersburg and moorefield, this is the best place to eat around. Charming outdoor patio during the warmer months. Food is generally pretty good, although some of the dishes are a little uncreative, for example, the burger. Steaks and seafood are good though. Enjoyed several meals at O'Neills; all of them to be more specific! The place is clean (a MAJOR deal for me), the staff are top-notch and the food is consistently great! Look out for Carrie and Beth "the dessert pusher"; love these ladies and the touch of class that they add to the experience! This is a great family place. We were just two adults and went in what we did not realize was "family night". Balloon artist made things for all and it was not to noisy even with all the kids and big groups! Very efficient and pleasant wait staff, too. A long-standing Moorefield eating establishment with surprisingly excellent menu selections. We were a party of 17 all with different taste and expectations. And I personally had the spicy shrimp with big baked potato and green beans and the shrimp were huge. The wife had the jerk chicken. Desserts was creme brûlée, not bad for rural restaurant in a small town. Everybody in Moorefield eats there, including the police guy. That is high praise indeed. There are probably only a few 5 star (in my rating system) around Eastern West Virginia, and this one of them. It would be a shame to go through Moorefield without stopping here. My brother and wife are "locals" (they live here and have a well-known business here) and they can vouch for this place. read more

I have driven by this place many times in my travels, this time I figured I would give it a try. We entered and the place was full which is always a good sign especially in these small town restaurants. The food was delicious although my baked potato was a little under cooked my steak and cooked cabbage was perfect. The staff was very friendly and quick to get us a table. From the time we sat down ordered and food delivered seemed like just minutes it was so quick. I will definitely visit here on my travels from here on out. read more

First, appearances: don't be scared by the front porch area, which looks a bit like a tenement. The plastic-as-windows look isn't attractive, but once inside it's a quaint setting. Anyways, as others have noted, the service was fast and friendly. As for the food, overall it was solid (3 stars, as the review says). I had the hot roast beef sandwich: decent, although a bit dry. My compatriots both had burgers, which got so-so reviews. The fries, cole slaw, and hot wings were all good, as was the garden salad. Also, the mashed potatoes are as-advertised: smooth and delicious. Portions are generous, and not a one of us went hungry. On a final note, I don't know how many people were in Daniel C.'s party, but this place is not at all over-priced (caveat: I'm used to prices in Washington, D.C.). There were 3 in my party; we each had appetizers and entrees, and split a desert. The total? $40. read more

First the greeting was poor. The people that came had us had to be locals because they were greeted so much warmer. The waitress never introduced herself; just said, "What do you want to drink?". The food was bland. Our son had ribs that had no seasoning and no taste. The fish and chips that I had was awful. The grease that it was fried in was old. I love this place!! I always pass by when driving to my parents and today we decided to have lunch here after reading other yelp posts and what a fantastic little diner. I had the BLT with the T being a fried green tomato (yum). I'm not a pita bread person but was otherwise a good sandwich. Potato soup was great and the creme brûlée was the best I've ever had. there is fine dining in wv. but this is not the place. better than most places in the area but still lacking. still to much stuff in the freezer. could not get a burger cooked medium rare because it was still slightly frozen. salmon is "fresh" frozen. this is not some greasy diner in the middle of nowhere so no reason to have frozen entree's. prime rib was good for the price. they need to learn to space the time between salads and entree's. would like to finish one before the other arrives. have been eating there since 2008 and feel that the quality control is starting to slip. still better than driving to cumberland or winchester. read more
