I walked into the store this morning at approximately 0945 hours. There was only one female employee behind the counter and there were several customers waiting in line. I stood near the batteries for a bit hoping someone would assist me but help never arrived. The female employee was overwhelmed (why would they put her in this position?) After getting no help or acknowledgement, I left the store and drove to Auto Zone on Clayton Rd. As soon as I walked into Auto Zone two employees immediately began helping me. I wanted to making my little Miata look nice with some good quality car soaps and waxes, so I decided to go to O'Reily's on Clayton Road. I interacted with a couple of sales people who were very attentive and helpful. One of guys took me over to the car wash area and showed me his personal favorites. I ended up buying all of his recommendations. One recommendation that stood out was a Chemical Guys spray wax that he said worked great and smelled good too. I didn't think about that comment too much until I used it. It worked great and it smelled fantastic! He was right! The people that work at this location are very friendly and knowledgeable, and seem to enjoy their work , which made the experience really nice for me! read more

My car was over heating and I stopped by here to see if someone knew what I could do to temporarily address the problem. I went in and asked to person at the counter. A young man tried to blow me off but then Jose came up from behind him and started to ask me some questions. After explaining, he offered to help me check the coolant. Since I don't know jack about cars I took him up on his offer. He also helped me check the oil and even helped me find the correct brands and fill them properly. He ended up with a $20 tip and I was able to make it home safely without it over heating. Great job Jose. I really appreciate it. read more

SUMMARY: Outstanding customer service today provided by Tyler (who's been mentioned by other customers as well). Great shop, well stocked, clean, no bad attitudes, etc. I'd send my wife and mom there and know they'd be treated right. BACKGROUND I have owned a Toyota 4Runner for nearly 19 years and unfortunately for many reasons, I've not taken as good of care of her as she has of me. Mind you, it's not the daily driver that it used to be (I ride the miserable BART to work) so I've not done the routine maintenance as religiously as before. Having moved up here too, I've gotten rid of a lot of things during the move up that I had to repurchase today. SERVICE I had a lot of items, large and small and Tyler was very accommodating and said I could leave the bigger items near the counter while I scrounged up the smaller items later. After reviewing what I was purchasing, he suggested two other options that would save me money. Now that's a mark of a good employee who is looking out for the customer's interest as well as the company's too. After ringing me up, he also helped me carry some of my items back to my car. The guy with a blue bandanna was a total jerk, didn't want to help me at all, in denial in knowledge what a Lincoln aviator is/ was so he didn't have to help me. C's car needed new wiper blades. I came by here to buy some, and was told that they offer a complimentary installation of the blades. I took them up on it, and gland that I did. The young man struggled with it, then told me that I would be better off buying another brand with a more conducive attachment adapter. He led me back in, refunded my purchase, then rang me up for my revised purchase. We then went back outside, and he had them installed in no time. The whole process took awhile, but it was worth it. First of all don't miss this store, its not called Kragen, its called O'Reilly Autoparts.It's right next to Starbucks The management as this location was very helpful after I came back to complain. I bought tire chains from them and was told that they were the right ones. I was not warned to actually put them on before I went off to the snow. So let me tell you this now: Word of Warning: Please put on the tire chains ASAP in order to see if they fit your tire. Even if the tire size is listed as the correct tire for the chain. You don't want to find out that they are too big or too small in a snowstorm, that can be very inconvenient and dangerous. If you can't figure out how they work, hop on youtube to see a demonstration. Unfortunately for me, I found out the hard way that my tire chain were grossly oversized. In the middle of a snowstorm, I could hardly go above 5mph without hearing the loud banging and scratching of the chains hitting my wheel well. It was an absolute nightmare. I managed to find a police offer to direct me to a gas station and then I figured out I could get adjusters to help. These adjusters pull the chain taught so it doesnt bang, but even with the adjusters the chains still banged at about 15mph. The 4 hr trip took 15+ hours and caused me a great deal of stress. I brought my story to the management here after I returned and they were very helpful and understanding. They issued me a refund even though the chains were "non-refundable." They claimed that the chains were likely defective. read more

He talks and enjoys what he does with a passion you can't find in many people. I am sadden to the fact that he no longer works there but is delightful to find that he is working in a different area. Erick is a great employee that is always cheerful and greets you with such a understanding manner that brings joy to having problems with my cars. I don't know much about cars, so when there was a little white smoke coming out from my hood, I panicked. Did a little google research and found out it could be something with the radiator and coolant reservoir. Sure enough, I was out of coolant. Not completely sure how severe the damage, but I just needed to get my car back home to San Jose safely. I went to this O'Reilly and was promptly assisted by Andrew. He was an absolute life saver. Very attentive and helpful! He even took the time to take a look at my car, noticed the radiator cap was broken and fished out a broken metal piece in my radiator! I was able to purchase a replacement cap and coolant. Andrew even poured the coolant for me! I seriously don't know what I would have done if it weren't for him. Auto parts stores are NOT all the same. Yes, there is a reason that most of them get 2-3 stars and this one is averaging 5. Because of these yelp ratings, I drove about 20 miles to come to this one. My quest involved headlights for my beloved 2001 Honda Prelude. My headlights were dingy discolored, ruining the entire look of the car. I shopped on-line for new ones, but I had questions about the different types of lights available. I realized that I needed to talk to a human - hence my trip to O'Reilly. I asked the nice man behind the counter about headlights and he explained about the different types I had questions about. We also talked a bit about the logistics of putting new ones on the car. Then he realized that they didn't carry headlights for my car, nor were they even available for order. After I convinced him that plastic cleaners were useless, he thought about it a bit and suggested wet sanding with 2000 grade sandpaper then using rubbing compound. He even found a little piece of sandpaper for me and I bought a new tin of compound. Lo and behold, I tried it out today and my headlights look FANTASTIC!!!! Yeah, I had to use some elbow grease on them, but all that yellow dinginess is gone. Amazing. This is my new store. read more

Chuck helped me and he was absolutely fantastic!!! He not only checked my battery but also tested my starter and alternator. .. all for free! Some people may knock these type of auto parts stores for whatever reason, but my experience here is first class. I had some elementary questions about electrical issues with my car and had my battery tested. They tested and charged the battery at no cost to me. Not only that, Adam and Chris were very friendly and offered great assistance and were sincere in helping me troubleshoot my issues. Its easy for auto guys to behave condescending but the guys here are classy. I greatly respect that. read more
